HUDSON FALLS – William (Bill) J. Coon passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Bill was born on September 15,1975, the son of the late John and Joan (Priest) Coon.
Bill graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1994 and spent one year at SUNY Adirondack studying criminal justice. In 1996 he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for four years, being honorably discharged as a Senior Airman. Bill went on to create a career as a Senior Project Manager overseeing site work divisions. He most recently worked for Marotta Construction.
Bill was a beloved father, and his boys were the center of his world. Watching his oldest son, Will, play college football while attending Springfield University this past fall was a dream that he always wanted for him. He also loved attending his youngest son, Brody’s, basketball games and enjoyed watching him thrive on every team he played for.
He coached Hudson Falls Little League baseball and Hudson Falls Basketball for years and loved being able to, not only coach his boys, but also all of the other kids who he considered his own. Bill was named coach of the year and earned many championships and well-deserved awards. He was the “winningest coach” in the area…as Bill would say.
His life revolved around sports, whether it was coaching, playing, or watching on every level, sports was a big part of his life and something he truly enjoyed. He spent his last few years building his life with his fiancé, Megan, and became the best stepfather to her children, from giving Emma life advice, to teaching Landon about sports, to listening to Lena’s play-by-play of her day. He was one of a kind.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, John and Joan Coon. He is survived by his sons, William M. Coon, and Brody J. Coon of Hudson Falls; his fiancé, Megan Marshall and her children, Emma, Landon, and Lena of Hudson Falls; his stepmother, Rose Coon of Hudson Falls; his siblings, Leslie Coon of Hudson Falls, Joe Coon and his wife, Cindy of Florida, and Cindy Hemphill of Florida; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be missed by his closest friends, Aaron and Jackie Diffee, Joel and Jesse Benoit, Jim Shaw, Chris Caruso, Erik Hafner, Jason Eisenhardt, Chad Signor, and many more.
Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Road in South Glens Falls. Burial with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, in Schuylerville.

Bill was an amazing guy!! Outgoing, great dad and friend to many people, a great coach to not only his kids but to many in the HF district! I will remember fires, Halloween parties, cornhole games, ugly Christmas sweater party, dance parties in your kitchen with Theresa and my sister (which I know you enjoyed so much haha) and so many more things!! You will be missed!!!! Rest in peace Bill
My deepest sympathies on the loss of Bill. I used to work with him and remember his willingness to always help, his love for his boys and how proud he was of them. May God comfort all of you during this time of healing.
