FORT EDWARD – Wally Petty, 94 of Fort Edward, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Slate Valley Healthcare Facility.
Born July 11, 1929, in Rutland Vermont, he was the son of the late Curtis and Helen (Hatch) Petty.
Following high school, Wally enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1946-1950.
Wally married the love of his life Doris Nelson on November 3, 1950, in Cambridge.
He was employed by Decora Paper Mill for several years and then went to work for Stewart’s on Ridge Street where he was a store manager.
Wally loved gardening and maintaining his lawn. He also loved taking care of his neighbors’ driveways with his tractor. He enjoyed taking trips to Lancaster, PA. Wally’s family was the center of his life, and he enjoyed spending time with them. He always looked forward to family reunions.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Doris (Nelson) Petty; his brothers Lester, Earl, Phil, and Neil; and his sister, Janice Robertson.
Wally is survived by his daughters Dorothy Beecher (Ed) of Glens Falls and Margaret Doyle (Richard) of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Todd Beecher (Jenn), Eric Beecher (fiancé Lauren Ashley), Angela Hogan (Joe), Matthew Doyle (wife Bridget); his great grandchildren, Dalton (fiancé Alexandra), and Jack and Alexandra Hogan; his brothers and sisters Tom (Laura)Petty, Wayne Petty, Carol Yanke-Nason, and Nancy Cary. Wally is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls from 1 pm to 3 pm.
A Funeral service will be held at 3pm following calling hours.
Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the spring.

I am so sorry for your loss of your. We had good time with cb club camping had a great time. He will be missed very much.
