Thomas “Tom” H. Clum

QUEENSBURY – Thomas “Tom” H. Clum, 69, of Luzerne Road, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, on Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home.

Born on February 11, 1949, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George and Leanora (Fitzpatrick) Clum.

Tom was a 1967 graduate of South Glens Falls High School.  Soon after his graduation, he began his 41-year career with the Glens Falls Post Office.

On August 27, 1977, he married Teresa Wood at the the Township Baptist Church. They have spent 41 wonderful years together.

Tom enjoyed going to Lebanon Valley Speedway to watch the drag races and also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.  He loved playing sports and spent many hours playing basketball and tennis.  Tom also enjoyed watching all kinds of sports on TV, except golf.

He spent many years homeschooling his three children, on top of working full time.  Tom loved hard, played hard and worked hard.  He was a talented craftsman, having built all kinds of shaker style furniture.  Adding to his other interests, Tom was an avid gardener.  Every year more and more of his yard became the garden.  He had a great sense of humor, always willing to help anyone in need.  Tom was a kind and loving husband, father, poppa, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Joan Rivers, Linda DuFour, Peter Clum and Michael Clum.

Left behind to carry on his memory, his loving wife of 41 years, Teresa “Terri” Clum of Queensbury; his children, Tommy Clum, Bethany Smith and Kristen Jarrett, all of Queensbury; his adopted daughter, Brandy Shoemaker and her husband, Bob of Hannacroix; poppa to his grandkids, Jesse Clum, Kennedy Smith, Deshun Jarrett and Reathalynn Swift, Scarlett Bain, Shylee Bain and Waylon Shoemaker; his siblings, David Clum and his wife, Vicki of Panama City, FL, Marion Kohls of Queensbury and Virginia Boisclair and her husband, Norman of South Glens Falls; his mother in law, Viola Ladock of Berne; his sisters in law, Linda Clum of  Gansevoort and Patricia Clum of Hudson Falls; his brother in law, John Wood and his wife, Starleen of Middleburgh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, following the calling hours, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Loren Gage, officiating.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Estherville Animal Shelter, 100 Russell Road, Greenfield Center, NY 12833.
