HARTFORD – Charles Francis Winch, 76, passed away on his beloved Dolly Parton’s birthday, on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Glens Falls Hospital, with his daughter, Tami, and his niece, Tracy by his side.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James O. and Dolores (Duffy) Winch, Sr.
Charles owned and operated Lebanon Valley Truck Stop, where he also sold Arctic Cat and Ski-doo snowmobiles. Later he drove school bus for Hudson Falls Central School and New Lebanon Central School. Upon moving to Hartford, Charles and his mother built his beloved home, where he lived until his death. The home sat at the top of an old logging trail with breathtaking views. Charles was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He also loved listening to classic country music, especially, Dolly Parton.
He leaves behind his daughters, Tami Elise Winch and her fiancé, Andrew Hill of Valley Falls, Heidi Ann Bell and her husband, Randy Lee of Franklinton, LA, Karen March of Bradenton, FL; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Bell of Slidell, LA, Jeremiah Bell and his wife, Jessica , and Andrew Bell and his wife, Amanda, both of Franklinton, LA; his great granddaughter, Presleigh Bell of Franklinton, LA; his brothers, James O. Winch, Jr. and his wife, Diana of Pisgah Forrest, NC, Gerald P. Winch II and his wife, Patricia of Hudson Falls; his niece, Tracy Winch-Colomb of Hudson Falls; as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles’ family thanks Sharon and Jack Deyette and Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Norton for their years of friendship to Charles. They would also like to thank the nurses and doctors of Glens Falls Hospital T3, T5 and 4 West for their care, love and compassion.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be in the spring, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward.
