Sharon (VanNess) Jenkins

HUDSON FALLS – Sharon (VanNess) Jenkins, age 56, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side after a 21-year battle with cancer. Sharon had incomparable strength and spirit, and her love for her family kept her on this earth. She was a valued employee of Washington County Head Start, serving as the Transportation Manager. As former president of the Hudson Falls Wrestling Boosters, she revitalized the program which remains vibrant to this day. Despite her illness, she lived each day to the fullest, travelling through the country, undertaking craft and home renovation projects, and spending time with her extended family, friends and her pets.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary Jenkins; her son Peter (Kate) Jenkins; her daughters Sarah Genier (Brian) and Heidi Jenkins; her mother, Margaret VanNess; her brothers Edward “Butch” VanNess (Stella); Art (Diane) VanNess; Leo VanNess; James (Judy) VanNess; Steven (Lisa) VanNess; Thomas (Michelle) VanNess; and Timothy VanNess; her sisters Margaret Quirk; Linda Dugan; Janet (Ken) LaFay; Virginia (Fred) Whiting; Gail (Perry) Wittmer; Tina VanNess; Lisa VanNess and Laurie (Mark) Havens. She is also survived by her in-laws, David (Cindy) Jenkins; Janice (Steven) Butler; and Donald (Nancy) Brace; and by many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and aunts and uncles.

She is predeceased by her father Leo VanNess, brother Kenneth VanNess, her brothers-in-law Patrick Dugan, Richard Quirk and Frank and Shirley Holeman, her father-in-law John Brace and mother-in-law Marion Jenkins, and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Friends may call on Friday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson falls.

Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, following the calling hours.

Kenny B. VanNess

VanNessKINGSBURY – Kenny B. VanNess, 47, of Route 4, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness.

Born on September 30, 1965, in Glens Falls, he was the son of  Margaret (Winters) VanNess and the late Leo VanNess.

Kenny was a 1985 graduate of Hudson Falls Senior High School.

On June 3, 2000, he married Tina Hart in his parent’s backyard in Hudson Falls.

He worked in maintenance for The Epic Company and for several years as a custodian the Hudson Falls School system.  He also helped his brother work on slate roofs. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Kenny enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley. The sunshine of his life was his grandson.  He was a loving, giving man who loved everyone.  Everywhere he went, he served as the comic relief!  He liked Little Debbie’s snacks, loved company and he was more than the life of the party; he was “the party”.   He enjoyed burning picnic tables and loved his bird, Cookie.

In addition to his father Leo, he is predeceased by a brother in law Artie Hart and a good friend, Jeff Bardin and his GooseLucy.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Tina (Hart) VanNess of Kingsbury; his mother Margaret VanNess of Hudson Falls; his three children, Patrick (Terra) VanNess, Stephanie VanNess and Crystal “Moe” VanNess, all of Kingsbury; his cherished grandson, Dominick VanNess; his brothers and sisters, Margaret (Dick) Quirk of Hartford, Edward “Butch” (Stella) VanNess of Arizona, Linda Dugan of Gallway, Janet (Ken) LaFay of Hudson Falls, Virginia (Fred) Whiting of Gansevoort, Art (Diana) VanNess of Hartford, Sharon (Gary) Jenkins of Hudson Falls, Leo “leaper” VanNess of Fort Edward, Jim (Judy) VanNess of Queensbury, Gail (Perry) Wittmer of Buffalo, Lisa VanNess of Lake George, Laurie (Mark) Havens of Argyle, Steven “Beaver” (Lisa) VanNess of Fort Edward, Tom (Fiancé Michelle) VanNess of Fort Edward and Timothy “Trouble” VanNess of Hudson Falls; his adopted son, Adam Wells of Hudson Falls; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; his in laws, Art and Sandy Hart of Kingsbury; his brothers in law, Shawn Hart of Kingsbury and Jeff Hart of South Glens Falls; his sisters in law, Mindy (Mark) Suprenant of Fort Edward and Megan (Art) Catellier of Fort Edward; and his close friends, Sandy and LeRoy Catone of Hudson Falls, Darrell and Sue Allen of Corinth, Mike and Kim Ryan of West Glens Falls, Brian and Cindy Yole of Texas, Scott Kelly of Hudson Falls and Jeff and Cindy Wheeler.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.  Kenny’s family has requested that in honor of Kenny, all dress casual.

Funeral services will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Gospel Lighthouse Church on LaCrosse St. in Hudson Falls.

Burial will follow in Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
