William “JR” Leonard Tougaw

FORT EDWARD – William “JR” Leonard Tougaw, Jr., 57, passed away on March 16, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on December 10, 1967, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Marion (McDonald) Tougaw and William “Bill” L. Tougaw, Sr.

JR worked as a handrail layout man for NS Associates in Gansevoort for many years. Most recently, he was employed at Wallace Supply in Fort Edward. He also lived in Warrensburg for several years.

He was a simple man. His family was very important to him, and he remained close with his four siblings throughout his life. JR enjoyed spending time in the outdoors: hunting, fishing and camping.  He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include: his brother Randy Johnson of Cambridge; brother Scott Johnson, Sr., of Glens Falls; his sister, MaryAnn Johnson of Queensbury; brother Robert Tougaw of Gansevoort; nephew Scott Johnson, Jr., and his family of Fort Edward; niece Danielle (Johnson) Green and her family of Glens Falls; niece Jamie Johnson of Hudson Falls; niece Heather Johnson and her family; nephew Matthew Johnson; niece Chelcee (Johnson) Richardson and her family of Queensbury; his former wife, Virginia (Gailor) Rivers; his best friend, Paul LaCross; his girlfriend, Kelly Russell of Fort Edward; many cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and his dogs.

He was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Bill; siblings who passed away in infancy, Matthew and Eileen Johnson; former sister-in-law Victoria (Farnsworth) Johnson; and nephew Patrick Smith.

The Rite of Committal will be at 1 pm on Thursday, March 27, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
