Shirley Granger

GrangerHUDSON FALLS – Shirley Granger, 95, a long time resident of Ferry Street, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015, at the Fort Hudson Healthcare and Rehab Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 7, 1919 in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Elizabeth (Cutler) Tougas.

Shirley was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

For 25 ½ years, she was employed at General Electric in Fort Edward.

She was a life member of the United Methodist Church of Hudson Falls where she was a member of the Ladies group and assisted in the Lenten lunches until her health prevented her from doing so.

Shirley enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and reading.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her four brothers, Edgar, Harold Paul and Ray Tougas, as well as her sisters, Elizabeth Griffin Ruth Launder and June Whalen

Survivors include her four children, Thomas Granger and his companion Dianne Bell of Indiana, Michael Granger and his wife, Barbara of Glens Falls, Shirley Cole of Hudson Falls, Debra Record and her fiancé Frank Gitto of Glens Falls; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; her brothers, Alan Tougas and his wife, Ann of Richmond, VA; her sister, Lorraine Richelt of CA; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, at the United Methodist Church of Hudson Falls, 227 Main St., in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Dereck Hansen, pastor, officiating.

A luncheon will follow the services at the church.

Interment will take place in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
