HUDSON FALLS – Sandy L. Catone, 57, of Mosher Lane, went into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 18, 1958 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Shiralee (Richmond) McCrea.
Sandy was a graduate of Fort Edward High School and on March 13, 1976 she married LeRoy Catone, Sr., in Hudson Falls.
She loved children and ran a day care center at her home where she provided wonderful care and attention to all the children that entered her door. Sandy enjoyed watching football, especially the Hudson Falls Tigers, also NASCAR racing, with her favorite racer being Number 88, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She had a green thumb, growing healthy vegetable gardens from which she made her own tomato sauce. Sandy loved cooking and would often cook for gatherings at the Gospel Lighthouse Church. She liked taking rides on her pontoon boat on Stewarts Pond and the Hudson River. Sandy was on a bowling league where she would bowl with her friends and had a knack for decorating for the holidays. She enjoyed helping her husband and sons in the garage and loved her dogs, Jack, Bear and Copper and her cat, Koda. She also loved to crochet but her favorite activity was spoiling her six grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her brother, Robert Monroe.
Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years, LeRoy Catone, Sr. of Hudson Falls; her three children, LeRoy Catone, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Whitehall, Patricia May Catone of Hudson Falls and Matt Catone and his girlfriend, Karyn Cassidy of Hudson Falls; her six grandchildren, LeRoy III, Damien, Autumn and Lukas Catone, Jonathan Bennett and Noel Dickinson; her sister, Beth Shields and her husband, Virgil of Hudson Falls; her extended family, Misty Dickinson and her husband of Argyle and Gabriella Istudor and her husband, Alin Popescu of Chicago, Illinois; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.
The funeral service will follow the calling hours at 5 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Reverend William Kenna, officiating.
Burial will be in the spring, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
