Frances (Pagano) Combs

GLENS FALLS – Frances (Pagano) Combs, 79, of Stichman Towers, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at The Pines in Glens Falls.

Born on January 5, 1936, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Martella) Pagano.

In 1964, she married Lowell Combs and began her family, raising her two children, Joe and Paula.  Her family was the center of her life.   She was a loving mother and an adoring grandmother to Brandon and Sean.   Frances also loved animals, especially her grandpuppy “Oreo”.

She was a humble, faithful servant of the Lord, who lived her life according to her faith.  Frances was a kind woman with a warm heart.   She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Frances also enjoyed traveling all over the country and going out to eat with her family.  She was an avid hockey fan and treasured the time she spend going to games with her son, Joe and grandson, Brandon.   Frances always looked forward to attending family events.  One of the joys of her life was spending time with her friends at Stichman Towers, especially Betty and her late friend, Tina.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Mario Pagano, Paul Pagano, and Sebastian Pagano.

She is survived by her two loving children, Joe Combs of Queensbury and Paula Canary and her husband, James of Saratoga Springs; her daughter in law, Susan Combs of Glens Falls; her two grandchildren, Brandon Combs and Sean Canary, both of Saratoga Springs; her siblings, Anthony Pagana and his wife, Elaine of Fort Edward, Carmello Pagano and his wife, Dorothy of El Dorado Hills, CA and John Pagano and his wife, Janet of Queensbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

The family expresses a heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Pines for the wonderful care and compassion given to Frances and her family.

Preston Combs

CombsWESTFIELD, MA – Preston Combs, 89, Westfield MA, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Noble Hospital in Westfield.

Born June 2, 1925, in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Norris Combs and Viola (Baker) Combs Tomlinson.

Preston was a graduate of Fort Ann High School.  He was employed at Union Bag in South Glens Falls, Singer Sewing Machine in Utica, and retired from Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, after 33 years.

He married Jean Place, who was the love of his life and best friend.  She was the center of his universe.  They did everything together after his retirement. She passed away after 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Survivors include his two sons, Ronald Combs of Hartford and Kevin Combs of Williamstown, MA; his two daughters, Paula Phaneuf of Springfield, MA and Brenda Morrissey of Westfield, MA; his brother, Paul Tomlinson of Salem; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., on Saturday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Robert Flower, pastor of South Granville Congregational Church, officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
