SCHENECTADY – Ethel S. Bubbins, 96, formerly of Schenectady, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016, at The Pines in Glens Falls.
Born on December 27, 1919, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Zolnowski.
Ethel was a 1936 graduate of Hudson Falls School and at the young age of 70, she graduated from Spencer Business School in Schenectady.
After high school, she married Victor Bubbins at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls and shortly after their marriage, they moved to Schenectady. Victor passed away in 1969.
Ethel worked as an administrative assistant and home health care aide for many years. She was an active member and Eucharistic Minister at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Schenectady.
Ethel and her family loved spending summers at her camp at Hadlock Pond.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Rodney Bobbins, her sisters, Estelle Francato and Genevieve Garrant and her great niece, Marcia (Francato) Perrin.
She is survived by her sister, Helen McCann; her grandson, Stephen Bobbins; her granddaughter, Alexis Carter; her great grandson, Alexander Carter; her nieces and nephews, Marc Francato, Ann Marie Francato, Kathleen McCann, Thomas McCann and his wife, Sharon, Richard McCann and Brian McCann; many great nieces and nephews; and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls, with Reverend Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
Ethel’s family would like to thank the third floor staff at The Pines in Glens Falls for their excellent care and kindness.
