MOREAU – Alfredo A. Simione, 91, went home to the Lord, on Friday April 20, 2018, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.
Born on August 6, 1926 in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of Italian Immigrants, the late Alberico and Carmella (Bove) Simione.
Alfred was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during WWII.
In 1954, he married Eleanor DeLorenzo. They have been married for 63 years.
Alfred was employed as a bus driver at Wilton Developmental Center in Wilton. He also worked as a bus driver for the Queensbury School District. At one time, Alfred owned a pizza/sub shop called Gino’s, located in Corinth. Alfred was Mr. Fix it at Hudson View/Simione’s Bakery. Anytime something broke, he would get a call at any hour and was always there to help.
Alfred enjoyed visiting his friends and family. He loved going to places like, Pete’s Diner, Lox of bagels, ACE Hardware and Roma’s Imports. Alfred especially enjoyed helping Matt at Rockhill Bakehouse, doing whatever was needed. He liked spending time with his children and siblings to make sure that everyone was doing well. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren take part in activities, such as singing, going out to breakfast and dinner with his grandson, going to school events and spending time on the farm. Alfred believed that a good education and going to church, were the most important parts in a person’s life.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Varney, his two brothers, Dominick and Frank Simione and several in-laws and close friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Eleanor (DeLorenzo) Simione of Moreau; his four children, Donna (Mark Ehrhardt) Nolin of Lake Luzerne, Peter (Libby) Simione of Moreau, Stephen Simione of Moreau and Christina (Justin) Sievers of Easton; four grandchildren, Jeremy John Nolin of Fort Edward, Isaac Frederick , Paul Simione and Sarah Eleanor Sievers, all of Easton; his siblings, Mary Simione of Brooklyn, Anthony Simione of Moreau, Edith Orsini of Glens Falls, Rosey Granger of Glens Falls, Victoria Mumblo of Hudson Falls, Diana (Robert) Martin of Queensbury, Michael (Gail) Simione of Hudson Falls and Fannie Tatsie of Moreau; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Michael’s The Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue in South Glens Falls.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s The Archangel Church, with the Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, following the Mass, at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Stillwater.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Moreau Emergency Squad, Inc. 1583, US 9, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
Arrangements are under the care of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
