It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard C. Cook, who passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 94.
He was born in Glens Falls to Irene and Delos Cook on May 5, 1930.
Richard married the love of his life, Gladys Stark, in 1953 and was blessed with six children of his own.
He was very proud that he had served in the US Army, in the honor guard during the Korean War.
Richard was a family man, that loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as they were the light of his life. His true love was farming, but he retired from Scott Paper in the early 1990’s, where his coworkers knew him as “Cookie”. Richard loved to joke around, and it was known, if he was picking on you, that meant he liked you. He taught his children what integrity was by leading them by example. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Delos and Irene Cook, two siblings, Bob (Rose) Cook and Betty (Stanley) Galka, and his son Richard (Linda) Cook and an infant daughter, Patricia Cook.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Gladys Cook; his siblings, Patty (Gordon) Aubrey, Janet (John) Pagano and Ronald (Lucy) Cook; his children, Debra (John) Cahill, Jeffrey (Kay) Cook, Scott (Karrie) Cook, Randy (Cindy) Cook; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudosn Falls.
The Rite of Committal will be at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
The family would like to give their heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Marcella from the Essex Center. She was a guardian angel for Richard and his family.
The family request memorial donations be sent to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or online at www.dav.org.
