HUDSON FALLS – Richard A. Vaughn, 84, of Hudson Falls, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, December 11, 2016.
Born May 26, 1932, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Karl and Mildred (Tyler) Vaughn.
Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, and fought in the Korean War.
He was married January 21, 1972, to Carolyn Whitney at Truthville Baptist Church.
Richard was an employee of Native Textiles for 48 years.
He enjoyed cutting and selling firewood, hunting, camp, spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, and trips to the ocean.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Valerie Vaughn; his son, Stewart Vaughn; his son, Stephen Vaughn; his sister, Eleanor MaCauley; his brother, Wilbur Vaughn; and his first wife, Barbara (Morse) Vaughn who passed away in 1963.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carolyn (Whitney) Vaughn of Hudson Falls; his sons: Tony Matteson and his wife, Diane of Waynesboro, VA, Thomas Matteson and his wife, Sonja of Hudson Falls, Timothy Matteson and his wife, Lanell of Roger, TX; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. Immediately following calling hours at 1 p.m., a funeral service will take place at the funeral home, officiated by Derek Hanson.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, in Fort Edward, with full Military Honors.
