Sonya Beagle Burke

NASSAU – Sonya Beagle Burke, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at her home.

Born on February 9, 1964, in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Harold Beagle, Sr. and Elma (Daha) Beagle Simione.

Sonya attended Hudson Falls School before moving to Queensbury and graduating from Queensbury High School.

Sonya worked for Comcast in fiberoptics for many years, before going to work for Equine Advocates, Inc.  She loved working with horses.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and children.  Sonya also enjoyed shopping and decorating her home.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold “Butch” Beagle, her grandson, Caeden Burke and her stepfather, Domonic Simione.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Lisa) Beagle, Darrell (Amanda) Burke, Jr., Paul Burke and Tracey Burke; her grandchildren, Sofia Burke, Taylor Burke, Oliver Sanders, Izik Sanders, Malichai Savage, Priscilla Burke, Hailey Burke, Isabella Burke, Eliana Burke, Abbigail Labshere and Mason Bannister; her great grandchild, Zay’vion Bartee; her longtime partner, Manuel “Mannie” Ramirez; her siblings, Francis Simione, Paul Simone, Wanda Savage and her partner, Mike Dickinson, Terry (Anne) Beagle, Harold Beagle, Jr., Aaron Beagle, Cathy Bennett, William Beagle and Debbie Rooks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

A prayer and time of remembrance will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Dorothy Elaine Gilman

FORT EDWARD – On October 12, 2023, our family said goodbye for now to a wonderful, strong woman. Dorothy Elaine Gilman was 97 years old and was born on July 3, 1926 to the late Francis Fayette Dingman and Dorothy Elizabeth (Kirby) Dingman. One of six children, Elaine, as she was known by all, grew up in South Glens Falls.

In 1946, she married Arthur Allen Gilman. She was the one who proposed, and fortunately he said yes! Arthur passed away in 2001 at the age of 84. Together, they had four daughters. Elaine was a stay-at-home mom until she graduated from Nursing School in 1971 as an LPN and started working at the Glens Falls Hospital.

She was the best wife, mom, and grandmother and many wonderful memories were made in the house we all grew up in. She loved all of her children and grandchildren very much. Her grandchildren affectionately called her Grammoo.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Colleen Gilman Eldred; her brothers, Richard Dingman and Frank Dingman; her sisters, Claire Wadleigh and Martha Dickinson; a special cousin, June Corentto; sisters in law, Carol Dingman, Ann Dingman, and Shirley Dingman, Polly Harvey, and Eleanor Viger; brothers in law, Sheridan and William (Waddy) Gilman, Fred Viger, John Dickinson, and Harry Wadleigh; her mother in law and father in law, Wiliam (Winky) Gilman and Anna Mae (Rozell) Gilman; and sons in law, Robert Eldred, Sr., Ronnie Naatz, and Richard Lane, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Alecia Naatz, Karen McKinney (Frank), and Janine Gilman (Kevin Alden); her brother, Ron Dingman; her fourteen grandchildren, Lisa (Eldred) Mastrangelo (Pete), Terry Eldred (Robin), Tracie Eldred (Jason), Robert Eldred, Terri Kingsley (Eric), Heather Naatz (Alton), Lonnie Naatz (Nicole), Rick Lane (Margaret), Mindy Lane (Mike), Robert Lane (Erin), Christine Lane, Corrine Lane Smith, Stacie (LeBlanc) Wozniak (Adam), and Shawna Anderson (Rob); She is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way), and many, many nieces and nephews. Elaine had a very special bond with her great-great-granddaughter, Karlee, who visited her often and will miss her dearly.

Friends may call from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A service will follow the calling hours, 12:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Elaine will be laid to rest with her husband, Arthur, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, following the funeral services.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the S Wing staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Home. We came to love you like family. You know who you are! A very special thank you also to the wonderful team of nurses from The Community Hospice who helped care for Elaine. 

Donna Marie Manchester

GANSEVOORT – Donna Marie Manchester, 77, of Gansevoort, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on July 10, 2023, after a short illness.

Born on May 10, 1946, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Henry Hunt.

On March 7, 1970, she married Alfred Salmonson at the Baptist Church in South Glens Falls, together they had two children, Heidi and April.  He passed away in 2019.

On February 15, 1996, she married Wendall Manchester at their home in Greenfield Center.  He passed away on May 15, 2017, after 21 years of marriage.

Donna worked for various employers over the years in different factories and as a seamstress, eventually retiring from Target in Wilton.  The most important role she had in her life was taking care of her daughters.  She met her husband, Wendall, during her employment at Elsworth Ice Cream Factory in Saratoga Springs.  She enjoyed sewing and was a very talented seamstress who could duplicate just about anything.  When her girls were younger, she could be found making custom clothing for their Cabbage Patch Kids.  Donna also enjoyed square dancing and bowling in her younger years, she was an avid Elvis fan and loved sitting down to watch a Hallmark movie.

Besides her parents and husbands, Donna was predeceased by her brother, Michael Hunt.

Survivors include her two daughters, Heidi Taylor and her husband, Mike of Saratoga, April Salmonson of Gansevoort; her step grandchildren, Emily and Jazmyne Basped; her siblings, John Hunt, Robert Hunt (Sharon), Pearl Jarvis and Marjorie Dickinson (Zenas); several nieces, nephews and cousins; her close friend, Annie Pierce and her daughters’ dog, whom she loved, Brownie.

Friends may call, Friday, July 14, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, at 2 p.m., following the calling hours.

Georgie Mosher

FORT ANN – Georgie Mosher, 52, was reunited with her family in Heaven on Monday, March 21, 2023, at her home in Fort Ann.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wesley and Gracie Mosher; her beloved son, Michael Sanders and her brother, Wesley Mosher.

Survivors include her partner of 28 years, Garry Dickinson; her daughter, Tiffany Olson of TN; her sisters, Joyce Rose and Tanya Mosher; her brother, Randy Mosher and her five granddaughters.

Friends may call Monday, March 27, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., following the calling hour, at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the spring, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Matthew Jay Chambers

GLENS FALLS – Matthew Jay Chambers, of Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his home. He was 67.

Born on May 16, 1955 in Glens Falls, he was a life-long area resident and son of Lena (Underwood) Coons and the late Ralph Chambers.

Matthew worked for several years at the Former C.R. Bard, now Becton Dickinson, in Glens Falls. He was a graduate of Queensbury High School and after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country from 1974 to 1978. Matthew then went on to get his Bachelor of Science degree from Oneonta University.

Matthew was an avid Dungeons and Dragons player and played with his nephew, Zachary, and several other friends.

In addition to his father, he is predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Chambers; and a nephew, Randy Jenks.

He is survived by his mother, Lena Coons of Warrensburg; his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Ed O’Brien of Wilton; and his niece and nephew, Robin Jenks, Zachary Potter-Chambers, and Cale Potter-Chambers.

Services will be at a time to be announced.

Allan Walter “Bud” Chatterton

QUEENSBURY – Allan Walter “Bud” Chatterton, 84, passed away Thursday morning, December 16, 2021, at his home with his family by his side.

Born on January 28, 1937 in Indian Lake, he was the son of the late Loren and Minnie (Moulton) Chatterton.

Allan was a graduate of Indian Lake High School.  After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Tokyo, Japan for much of his service.

He retired from Web Graphics after 28 years of dedicated work.

Allan enjoyed playing bingo and playing slots at the casinos.  He spent a lot of time at the Saratoga Racino and made many memorable trips to Atlantic City. In his younger years, he followed and bet on the horse races.  Allan enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles in his quiet time. Most of all, he adored spending time with his family and spoiling his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Loren Walter, Loren Victor, Ruben, Glen, Neil and Alan; and his sisters, Mavis Blanchard and Alice Bates.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Loretta Dickinson of Kingsbury, Yvonne Flewelling and her husband, Peter of Queensbury and Vivian DeLong and her husband, Ronald of Queensbury, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hour, 1 p.m., at the funeral home. All visitors are required to wear a face mask upon entering the building.

Burial with full military honors will follow the services at 2:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, in Schuylerville.

Gail M. Ingleston

FORT EDWARD – Gail M. Ingleston, 73, of Fort Edward, left us unexpectedly, but peacefully, on November 26, 2021, at her home.

Born on March 3, 1948, in Schuylerville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Dickinson.

Gail was a proud graduate of South High, class of 1967.

She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.   Family was her life and she valued the time she spent watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.

Gail was a longtime Auxiliary Member of the Gansevoort Volunteer Fire Department.  She loved lots of Cumby’s coffee and going fishing, wherever she could throw a line in.   Gail also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially her favorite racers, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  She was an avid animal lover, who treasured her fur babies, Teddy and Cinnamon.  Gail loved collecting cherubs and also enjoyed listening to country music.  Her family and those who knew her will always remember her for her big heart.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Ingleston.

Survivors include her children, Frank Burns and his fiancé, Maria DiCicco of Hudson Falls, Chuck Burns and Dot of VT, Billie Jo Hughes and her husband, Matthew of Hudson Falls, William Wells and his wife, Sherry Brownell-Wells of Fort Edward and Richard Wells and wife, Jenna of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Sanita Meade, Tiffany Lunt, Kyle Burns, Caleb Burns, Catherine Wells and Ann Marie Wells; her step grandchildren, Sarah Brownell and Asya Tatsey; her great grandchildren, Kelsey Williams and Nikolai Williams; and many other loving friends and relatives.

Friends may call on Monday, December 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Elizabeth Ellen Langer

OSWEGO – Elizabeth Ellen Langer, 92, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021, at Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego.

Born July 29, 1929 in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Thompson) Dickinson.

In May 31, 1948, Betty married Edwin Langer.

For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for Harris Stores in Hudson Falls and Pulaski.

Betty enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.

Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; her son, Thomas; her brothers, Frederick, Kenneth, Gerald, and her sisters, Dorothy and Virginia.

Survivors include her sons, David and his wife, Georgette, Richard and his wife, Lee, and Jeffery and his wife, Lacole; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her sister, Carol; her sister-in-law Loretta, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Lou “Grumpy” LaValley

KINGSBURY – Lou “Grumpy” LaValley, 68, of Kingsbury, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 30, 1953, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Perley and Katherine (Forcier) LaValley.

Following school, Lou proudly served in the United States Navy.

He spent many years working for area farms, landscaping at King Phillips Campground and he also worked at Grasshopper Gardens.

Grumpy enjoyed fishing, tinkering on small engines and doing any kind of mechanical work.  He was known for his contagious laugh and not being able to keep it together, to get through to the punchline of a joke. Grumpy had a big heart and would give the shirt off his back and help anyone out who needed it, no matter who you were. Lou could be found many times with his two lifelong best friends and partners in crime, Roland “Ralo” Wade and Bill “Woody” Woodard.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, John LaValley, Linda Tougaw, Rose Jordan and Perley LaValley and his father in law, Kenneth Dickinson.

Survivors include his wife and companion of over 43 years, Rose (Dickinson) LaValley; his children, Crystal Wheeler and her husband, Mike of Fort Ann and Jeremy LaValley and his wife, Krystal of South Carolina; his children from a previous relationship, Terry LaValley and his wife,  Melody of Fort Ann and Louis LaValley, Jr. of Hudson Falls; his six grandchildren, Emily and Taylor Wheeler, Cameron and Caleb “Lebby” LaValley, Kayla and Savannah LaValley; his great granddaughter, Aubrey LaValley; his sister, Beverly LaCross and her husband, Eugene of Gansevoort; his mother in law, Loretta Dickinson; his brother in law, Robert Tougaw; several brother and sisters in law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to all of the Nurses and the PCA’s on Tower 5 who cared for him.

Dorothy “Dot” Morehouse

QUEENSBURY—Dorothy “Dot” Morehouse, 89, a longtime resident of Queensbury, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

Born on September 4, 1931, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Thompson) Dickinson.

On December 23, 1951, she married Walter F. Morehouse and they spent 51 years together, before Walter passed away in July of 2002.

After graduating from Fort Edward High School in 1950, she began working at Glens Falls Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Dot stayed home to raise her children before going back to work at Clark’s Department Store in 1963. After that, she worked at the family businesses, Walt’s Bike and Walt’s Grocery with her husband.

When her children were young, Dot started the West Glens Falls Cub Scout Pack 17 and was involved for over 15 years. Then she helped her husband with Boy Scout Troop 17 in West Glens Falls. Dot loved working with the young children. She was a very talented craftsman, building many beautiful creations in her workshop. Dot spent many hours working in her gardens. She was also talented at knitting and crocheting wonderful gifts for her family. She enjoyed square dancing with the Merry Mohicans Square Dance Club.  Dots greatest treasured love was time spent with her many family members and she held a special place in her heart for her dog, Roo. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Kenneth Dickinson, Frederick Dickinson, and Gerald Dickinson, her stepson, Butch Morehouse and her sister, Virginia Austin.

Survivors include her children, Linda Morehouse and her companion, Nelson Dixon of Queensbury, Theresa DeCastro and her husband, Gino of Queensbury, Walter Morehouse of Stony Creek, Roger Morehouse and his wife, Gail of Queensbury, Ronnie Morehouse and his companion, Karen Holcomb of Glens Falls and Brenda Lewis and her companion, Ron Petty of Hudson Falls; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; her two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Langer of Pulaski and Carol Gibbs of Queensbury; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may call on Sunday, April 25, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 2 p.m. following the calling hours at the funeral home with the Reverend Penny Brink, of the United Methodist Church of South Glens Falls, officiating.

Burial will follow at Moss Street Cemetery.

Marjorie Patricia (Manney) McKittrick

HEBRON – Marjorie Patricia McKittrick (Manney), long time resident of Hebron, NY passed on March 3, 2021, after a two-year battle with CNS Lymphoma and recent complications from pneumonia. She passed peacefully while surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was born to the late Edward and Mary Manney, April 10, 1945, in Glens Falls.

All who knew Margie would attest that being a mother and nana were by far her greatest joy and accomplishment in life. She gave tirelessly her time, energy and love to her family.

Margie was loved by many for her generous nature, her quick, sassy playful comments, her ability to make all feel welcome and accepted for exactly who they were. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, a ready smile, a warm cup of coffee, a home cooked meal, a non-judgmental ear and an embracing hug. She was quick to forgive and move forward, often reminding us that life is too short to hold a grudge. She enjoyed road trips, bingo, and playing with her grandchildren.

Margie was immensely proud of her family, and she leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined, she often reminded us of the importance of living life to the fullest, to dance, to laugh, to love and to find the happy in all situations. She was a strong, loyal and loving wife, mother, nana, sister, daughter, and friend.

She was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Barbara Anderson, as well as her brother, Hank Manney and two grandchildren: Connor and Gavin Furey.

Margie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Garry McKittrick; four children, Laurie Hayes (Asa) of Hebron, Arnold Bardin (Alexa Fosmer) of Hebron, Billie McCann (Michael) of Saratoga Springs and Mary McKittrick (Dan Furey) of Hudson Falls;  she is also survived by six grandchildren, Philp Hayes, Kody Bardin, Kalyn Hayes, Carter Furey, and Grayson and Myles McCann; and three great grandchildren, Philip Hayes Jr., Iralynn Hayes and Antonina Bardin; her siblings, Edward (Phyliss) Manney, Robert (Doll) Manney, William (Donna) Manney, Clara (Dick) Young, Mary (Bill) Young, Constance (Pete) Bailey, Vivian (Jeff) Lazure, Thomas Manney, David (Dody) Manney, James Manney, Joanne Manney, and Cindy (Royal) Swan; she had 80 nieces and nephews, of whom she shared a particularly special bond with, Sheryl Havens, Bonnie Anderson, Pauline Anderson, Ashley Livingston, Kevin Dickinson and John Hunt Sr.

Calling hours for friends and family will be Saturday, March 13 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. in Hudson Falls.

A eulogy will be given in her honor at 3:00 p.m. for family only due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions.

A celebration of her life will be held at a date to be disclosed in a future service announcement.

Margaret (Wright) Hunt

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Margaret (Wright) Hunt, 94, formerly of the Gansevoort Road, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the Wesley Health Care Center.

Born on April 10, 1926 in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Pearl M. (Phillips) Wright.

She married Henry “Hank” Hunt on June 23, 1944 in Greenwich, NY.

Margaret started working at age 16 in the Steven & Thomson Paper Mill in Middle Falls then she worked at the Linen Thread Company in Greenwich. For 10 years, Margaret worked at H & F Binch, Inc. and then 10 years at Valcour, Inc. in Glens Falls. Her latest employment was with Greater Adirondack Home Health Aides.

At one time she was active in the Rebekah Lodge # 73 of Glens Falls and also the Mohican Grange. She was a member of the Funtime Mix League and the Girls Night Out League, both at Pine Lanes in South Glens Falls.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her  son, Michael J. Hunt, her brothers Walter, William, Robert and Raymond Wright, her sisters, Marjorie Betty Wright, Beatrice Gosselin, Marie Weatherwax, Delia Rhodes and Mary “Gert” Carr; her granddaughter, Michell Hart and two son in laws

Survivors include five children, Pearl I. Jarvis of Argyle, Donna Manchester of South Glens Falls, Marjorie B. Dickinson (Zenas) of South Glens Falls, John Hunt, Sr.  (Sherri) of South Glens Falls and Robert Hunt (Sharon) of South Glens Falls; 16 Grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; her sister in law, Brenda Wright of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.  

Funeral services follow the calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides at the Wesley Health Care Center for all their care and compassion, especially Bri and Sandy for staying with Margaret to the end.

Loretta MJ Hall (Robbins)

Loretta MJ Hall (Robbins), age 81, passed away peacefully on July 19th 2020, surrounded by her children after losing her struggle with heart disease.

She was born on August 14th, 1938, to the late Clara Jane Robbins-Bellinger (Warrington) and Edward Robbins.

A resident of the Glens Falls area for more than 50 years, she is best known for her long-lasting friendships, connection with her family, devotion to her faith, love of bingo, a CB’er, and her admiration and passion for music, singing, and dancing.  Loretta’s presence was always known, as her smile and ability to warm the hearts of anyone she encountered could take over the room.  She was especially fond of her family, which extended well past three generations including her great grandchildren.  She will be most remembered for her compassion, sharing of her life story, and her desire to sing and dance the night away.

Loretta is predeceased by her mother, Clara Jane Bellinger (Warrington), her father, Edward Robbins, her step-father Henry Bellinger, loving husband James Alfred Hall, who passed away in 2009, her brothers Henry Robbins and Warren Ballard, and son, Jeffrey Hall.

She is survived by her partner, Tom Neddo; daughter, Deb Stevens and partner John Blaney; son, James Hall; daughter, Jana Shackett; and daughter in law, Toni Hall (Pistoia).  She is also survived by her niece, April Dickinson and husband David; her friend of over 43 years, Nora “Pip” Hale, who were often found together in mischief; and grandchildren, AJ Hall, Dominic Wilson, Annette Smith (Hall) and husband Jason, Justin Wilson, Stacey Brower, Ashley Hall and partner Adam Vosh, Travis Skelton and partner Rudy Gardner, Adam Hall and wife Shalyn Hall, Andy Hall, Maria Pistoia, Tyler Bouyea and partner Kaitlynn Sousis, Samantha Brown and Jonathan Shackett; along with many great grandchildren.

There will be no public services at this time and a celebration of life will be held at a time to be determined.
