SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Olive Mae McClellan, 93, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on July 23, 1925, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late W. Kenyon and L. Beatrice (Denis) Briggs.
Olive was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School. Following high school, she graduated from Morrisville Agricultural and Technical School and earned her bachelors from State University of NY of Oneonta.
On January 1. 1948, Olive married Elmer McClellan, he passed away in 1958.
She lived in Speculator for 10 years and Colebrook for 18 years before moving to South Glens Falls in 1970.
Olive was a social worker for many years at Eden Park Nursing Center, now known as the Pines.
She enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing at Dick Ladd with her late partner, Angelo Aurelia and attending the meal sites in Hudson Falls, Glens Falls and Moreau.
She was an active communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls, where she was a member of the Rosary Alter Society, she was an Extra Ordinary Minister and a first-grade religious education teacher. Olive also was a literacy volunteer, a member of the Business of Professional Women’s Club, an associate member of the Post Stroke of Glens Falls, a member of AARP, a member of the Utica Dog training Club and the Utica Kennel Club. She also was involved in the North East New York Health Systems Agency and a member of the Board of Directors, Nomination Committee and Administrator and personal volunteer of the Wilton Developmental Center.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Elmer McClellan.
She is survived by her three sons, Barton Joseph McClellan of Argyle, J. Arthur McClellan of Utica and Ross Allen McClellan; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, April 22, 2019, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.
The Rite of Committal will be at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
The family as asked that memorial donations be sent to the St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
