HUDSON FALLS – Andrew “Andy” J. Willig, 52, of Morgan Drive, passed away suddenly, on Monday, May 6, 2019.

Born on April 28, 1967 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Shirley (Smith) Willig and James R. Willig, Jr.

Andy was a graduate of the class of 1985 at Hudson Falls High School.

He was the proud owner of Sprague’s Mermaid Pools in Fort Edward. His life passion was providing others the enjoyment of owning their own swimming pool. Prior to owning his own business, Andy drove Washington County Head Start bus #45. The children who rode on his bus, touched his life and brought him great joy.

Andy enjoyed watching the New York Football Giants with his family and friends.  He was not only a great son, brother and uncle, Andy was an outstanding friend and supporter of his community, who will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He loved to tell great stories, had a quick wit and loved to laugh.

As a boy, Andy was a member of the Catherine Street Gang and was a Derby Park legend. He always wanted to play ball with the older kids and Coach Luciano sent him to “Tidewater” more times than he could count.

He loved riding in his antique Hacker Craft “Liebchen” at the family camp on Lake George in Bolton Landing.

Andy is predeceased by his uncles, Dick Smith and Bill Willig, his aunt, Ann Pociluk and his cousin, Kathy Pociluk.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Willig of Hudson Falls; his father, James R. Willig, Jr. of Arizona; his siblings, Debra Asplund and her husband, Brad of Knoxville, TN, James R, Willig, III of Hudson Falls, Michael J. Willig and his wife, Tianna of Hudson Falls and Anne-Marie Brancati and her husband, Tony of Hudson Falls; his aunt, Nadine Smith; his nieces and nephews, Alexandra (Lucas) Allamon, Michael (Shaylyn) Brancati, Mark Ostrowski, Geno (Abby Wendell) Brancati and Anneliese Willig; his cousins, Marianne Smith, Brenda LaMere, Cindy Lammon; and several wonderful friends, that Andy cherished like family.

Friends may call on Friday evening, May 10th from 6 to 9 p.m. at McManus Hall, next to St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s on the park in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 11th at St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Following the cemetery service, everyone is welcome to the Kingsbury Fire House on Burgoyne Avenue for a celebration of Andy’s life. For those that would like to bring a dish to pass, it would be greatly appreciated by his family. HUDSON FALLS – George E. VanAernem, 74, was reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Carol on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

Born on August 5, 1944 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late R. Gorman and Edna VanAernem.

George was a 1962 graduate of Hudson falls high School, where he excelled in sports.  He was the ultimate “supervisor” of every event he was involved in.. His life centered around his children and grandchildren.

George loved his kids and became a father figure to so many of his children’s friends.  He opened his arms to everyone and everyone was safe within those arms.

George always had a laugh and a story to tell.  He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.

Besides his parents and wife, Carol, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dick and Robert VanAernem, his brother in law, Harry Hafner and his sister in law, Colette Smith.

Survivors include his three children, Kathleen Abare and her fiancé, Scott Moulthrop of Hudson Falls, Kimberly Grover and her husband, Michael of Fort Edward and Timothy VanAernem and his companion, Monica Puryear of South Boston, VA; four grandchildren, Ryan Carpenter of Fort Edward, Tyler Carpenter and his fiancee, Tyler Monroe of South Glens Falls, Nicholas Abare of Hudson Falls and Landon VanAernem of South Boston, VA; one great grandson, Layne Francis Carpenter; his siblings, Mary Ellen Hafner of Hartford and Thomas VanAernem and his wife, Renee of Hudson Falls; sister in law, Barbara VanAernem of Conway, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and too many friends to count.

Per George’s request, there will be no public calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude place, Memphis, TN  38105.

QUEENSBURY – Barbara E. (SMITH) Arnold passed away at home, May 2nd, 2019 surrounded by her loving children.

Born on December 4`, 1934 in Fenimore, NY. She was the daughter of the late Ellen and Powell Smith.

Barbara graduated from Glens Falls High School, class of 1952.

She was employed at Glens Falls Insurance Company, The Lumberjack Restaurant in Blue Mountain Lake, NY and she retired from General Electric in Fort Edward after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she was employed by TPI Payroll Service.

Barbara was a Life member of The Glen Star Chapter #95 of Eastern Star.

She enjoyed square dancing, riding her motorcycle, going out to eat with her family and friends, doing word search puzzles, and watching her Soaps, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. She very much enjoyed listening to old time country music, especially Smokey Greene. She was a very generous and giving person and never put herself before others. She will be deeply missed by all who new and loved her.

Barbara married Ralph Arnold in 1953 and had three children, Steven R. Arnold of Hudson Falls, Ronald R. Arnold (Debra) of Lake Luzerne, and Marilyn R. Williams (Jerry) of Lake Luzerne. She had six grandchildren, Kimberly Delisle, Andrew Arnold, and the late Matthew Arnold, Melissa Spangler (Matt), Bryan and Timothy Arnold, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her Blue Mountain Lake family. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Donald P. Smith (Barb) and sister Alberta Pedersen Hill.

Per Mom’s request, services will be private for the family. Rest in peace Mom, God knows you suffered enough.

FORT EDWARD – Marie (Bentley) Nichols, 84, of Fort Edward, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, with her beloved family at her side.

Born on August 25, 1934, in Hudson Falls she was the daughter of the late Vaughn and Alice (Welsh) Bentley.

Marie was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.  She then furthered her educations by taking accounting courses, following her graduation.

On March 22, 1953, she married, Tom Nichols at the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church.

Marie worked for many years at Sheridan Catheter in Argyle, retiring in 2000.

She was a giving lady, who enjoyed watching hockey, dancing, traveling and swimming. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Vaughn Bentley, Jr., her sister, Alice Simmons and her granddaughter, Sara Hunt.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Nichols of Fort Edward; her son, Terry Nichols of Hudson Falls; her daughters, Sharlene Hunt and her husband, Richard of Hudson Falls and Pamela Elderkin and her husband, Bryan of Jefferson, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Tiffany and Jessica Nichols, Peter Hunt and his wife, Jenny, Jared Hunt and partner, Steve Walsh, Rachel Kaidas and her husband, Michael, Gillian German and her husband, Adam, Gene Mattice and partner, Heather Morava, Tyler Elderkin and Ashley Elderkin; several great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born on October 7, 1942 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Ada (Lonogdue) Chadwick.

Jo-Ann grew up Baptist and loved bible studies. She also loved animals, especially dolphins.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Gage; her brothers, Gary Chadwick, Stephen Chadwick and Thomas Tyminski.

Survivors include her daughter, Katrina Whorf and her significant other, Dale Cook of Glens Falls; her ex son-in-law, Elliott Fuller, Jr.; grandsons, Elliott and Matthew Fuller; 4 beautiful great-grandchildren, Landen Fuller, Anreas Fuller, Gabriella Fuller and Maryella Fuller; her sisters, Rosemary Sanders-Fuller and her husband, Albert Fuller of Hudson Falls and Betty Lou Graves and her husband, George of Glens Falls; her brothers, Gerald Brian Chadwick of Fenimore and Joseph Tyminski of Hudson Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins. HUDSON FALLS – Joseph F. Campbell, 97, of Hudson Falls, NY and Naples, Fl., peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Matilda (Pidgeon) Campbell.

Joseph was a graduate of Bentley College, Class of 1942, in Boston.

After college, Joe served his country from 1942 – 1946, in the Army’s 337^th Signal Corps Troop Carrier Wing Company, achieving the rank of Sergeant.

On September 4, 1954, he married Margaret West of North Creek, NY.  They shared 64 wonderfully blessed years together.

Upon returning home, Joe began his career at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass for the next 41 years.  He held various positions at Sandy Hill and retired in 1987 as Treasurer-Secretary.

Family was always the focus of their life.  Joe and Marge enjoyed the Adirondacks, they were avid skiers, campers, boaters and square dancers.  He and Marge shared an amazing 32 years of retirement, filled with one adventure to another, including 10 weeks touring Alaska.  Joe lived life to the fullest, his heart was always filled with love, harmony and inspiration from his best friend Marge. 

Joe was a member of the Advisory Board of the Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. He served as director and treasurer of the Lake Champlain Cancer Research Organization, Inc, since its establishment in 1978, at the University of Vermont.  Joe contributed to the Hudson Falls community as past director of the Hudson Falls Chamber of Commerce, he was a member of the Mohegan Council of Boy Scouts and a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Theresa and infant grandson, Nicholas.

Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (West) Campbell; his daughter who resides in Glastonbury, CT Kathy Campbell & Jack Foster and their children Ashley & Ryan Bradley with son Tristan; Joseph Foster and John Foster: his daughter who resides in Burlington, CT Karen & Andy Selinger and their children Elise Selinger, Daniel Selinger and Scott Selinger: his son who resides in Amherst NH, Michael & Anna Marie Campbell and their children, Alyssa Campbell, Tom Campbell & his finance Chelsey Canavan and David & Aimee Campbell: his son who resides in Queensbury, NY Jon & Rhenda Campbell and their children Justine & Nick Ameden with daughters Everyn & Adalia, Samantha & Larry Hill, Gabe & Katie Campbell, Neal & Katie Campbell with daughter Lilah, and Margaret Campbell.  Joe is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Patricia, Margaret Ann, Irene, Barbara, Nancy, Kevin, Dave, Jeff, Mark, Peter and Joe.

HARTFORD – Greta M. Ross, 69, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, April 29, 2019 at her home.

Born on May 4, 1949, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence C. Dunning and Shirley (Carlson) Jones.

Greta lived most of her life in the town of Fort Ann and attended Fort Ann School.

She worked many places such as Joy Store, Glens Falls Hospital and also CR Bard – where she had retired from in 2014.

Greta loved animals especially her cats. She enjoyed staying at home and spending time with the cats, that she adored.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Michael Jones.

Survivors include her children, Ronald Runnalls and his wife, Anna of Glens Falls, Rick Runnalls of Argyle and Rhonda Sexton and her husband, John of Fort Ann; grandchildren, Alisha, Heather and Sarah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

HUDSON FALLS – Yvonne (Huntington) Goldsmith Jones, 84, of Swan Street, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on August 22, 1934 in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Adoniram J. and Jean (Hoag)Huntington, Sr.

On February 15, 1958, she married William H. Goldsmith in Hudson Falls.   They were married for 39 years before his death on January 29, 1997.

Yvonne married her second husband, Steven R. Jones, on June 2, 2001.

For many years, she was a machine operator in the garment industry.   Yvonne also worked as a seamstress at Periwinkle Children Clothes and Gruber’s Dress Factory, both formerly located in Hudson Falls.  She also enjoyed working at C.B. Sports in Queensbury, where she was supervisor of sewing, bundling and shipping. While she was at Gruber’s Dress Factory, Yvonne was chairlady for the International Ladies Garment Worker’s Union (ILGWU).  She was also, an organizer and business agent for the ILGWU.   In 1974, Yvonne was elected as the first woman recording secretary of the Glens Falls Central Labor Council.

Her faith was central in Yvonne’s life.  She loved attending weekly Mass at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Hudson Falls.

For many years, Yvonne was on a women’s league bowling team and a couple’s league, with her first and second husband.  She was also active in the Hudson Falls-Fort Edward AARP.

Yvonne was well known for her delicious hot dog sauce.  She loved going out to eat with her family and enjoyed taking family cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska.  Yvonne loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by them.

She loved doing what she wanted to do, when she wanted to do it!

Besides her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by her infant child, Norman Joseph Goldsmith, her daughter, Marijane Hall and her husband, Henry, her brother, A.J. Huntington, her sister, Patricia Joan Sweet and her husband, Norman and her aunt, Edna Copeland.

Survivors include her husband, Steven R. Jones of Hudson Falls; her son, William M. Goldsmith and his wife, Lisa of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, Henry “J.R.” Hall, Jr., Angela Hall, Michael Goldsmith, Morgan Goldsmith and Nicholas Goldsmith ; her step-granddaughter, Sally Vachula; her aunt, Jeanette Hoag; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her sisters in law and brothers in law, Penny and Jack Milici, Barbara Ryan, Rick Jones and Lou Ann Piccirillo and Chris and Craig Willson.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 27^th at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church on the park in Hudson Falls.
