GREENWICH – Spencer Reese Lewis, passed away peacefully at the age of 9 months on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

He was born on November 5, 2018, in Glens Falls, he was the son of David J. Lewis and Andrea R. Benway.

From his first day in this world, Spencer was a fighter.   Everyone who came in contact with him, fell in love.  Spencer was an all-around happy baby that made everyone who met him fell in love with his big, contagious smile.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Catherine Benway, his paternal great grandparents, Pete and Frances DeLong, Bea Chadwick and Shirley Graves.

He is survived his father David J. Lewis and his mother Andrea R. Benway; his sisters, Justice Harris, Liberty Benway and his twin sister, Serenity Lewis; his paternal grandparents, Pam and Bill Graves; his maternal grandfather, Patrick Benway; his maternal great grandmother, Joanne “Nana” Moffitt; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

All services for Spencer will be private.

Spencer H. Baldwin

HUDSON FALLS – Spencer H. Baldwin, 79, of Dean Road in Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 9, 2019.

Born on August 6, 1940, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late James and Marjorie (Crouch) Baldwin.

After his graduation from Granville High School, he joined the U.S. Army.  During his service, he was selected 4th Army Soldier of the year.

In 1963, he joined the Machinist Apprentice Program at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass in Hudson Falls and retired in 1995, as Manufacturing Manager.  During his retirement, he and his wife, Sandra traveled extensively throughout the United States, visiting all but one of the major national parks and the Caribbean.

Spencer enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling, caring for his lawn and garden, and just enjoying life. He was a kind and thoughtful man, who will be missed by many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James Baldwin.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra (Bain) Baldwin; his sons, Scott (Stephanie Schulze) and Stephen and his wife, Laurie (Nolan) Baldwin; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 15, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be private, and interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

A celebration of Spencer’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Wayne King

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Wayne King, 77, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, with his loving family by his side, at the Granville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born on October 24, 1941, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva (Haiber) King.

Wayne was a 1959 graduate of Hudson Fall High School.  Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp from 1960 to 1966, serving a tour in Vietnam.

On March 1, 1968, he married Kathleen Robinson at Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.

Wayne worked for Finch Pruyn Paper, he retired after 31 years as a supervisor.

In his younger years he was a member of the Elks Lodge.

Wayne loved golfing, bowling and traveling.  Most of all, his grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, he never missed their games.  Wayne will be remembered for always being there for anyone, others always came first.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Keith Gorton, Rob Gorton and Bill Gorton, an infant brother, Ricky, his sister, Denise “Dee Dee”, his mother in law, Evelyn Robinson and his three brothers in law, Richard Chabot, Ray Chabot and David Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Robinson) King of South Glens Falls; his son, Kevin King and his wife, Holly of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Kelsey DiCaprio, Abbey King and Ryleigh King; his siblings, Guy King, Roy Gorton, Steve Gorton, Jeff Gorton, Terry Gorton, Fay Speck and Christine Carlson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 11, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial with full military honor will be 9:30 a.m. on Monday, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Maxine Munger

Gansevoort – Maxine Munger, 85, of Leonard Street, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Saratoga Hospital.

Born on July 16, 1934 in Fort Ann, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Elma (Darling) Brownell.

Maxine graduated from Greenwich High School.

On July 25, 1953, she married Frank D. “Pete” Munger in Greenwich.

For over ten years, Maxine was a cook at the Georgian Restaurant in Lake George and later, she was a cook at the Ramada Inn in Queensbury and the Sheridan in Saratoga Springs.

Maxine was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist in Wilton, where she was also in the Trinity Women’s group.

The most important thing in Maxine’s life was spending time with her family.   She loved being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching them grow up.   Maxine also enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank “Pete” Munger, who passed away on January 14, 2006 and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children, Frank Munger and his wife, Nancy, Brenda LaFountain and her husband, William, Tina Munger, Christopher Munger and his wife, Jody, Christina Kilburn and Tricia Shinn and her husband, Stace; her grandchildren, Kandi O’Hara, Jaime Munger, Allie Swears, Eran Swears and his wife, Amy, Phil Swears and his girlfriend, Nancy, Christopher Munger and Cody Munger, Nicholas Benson and his wife Rebecca and Kayla McKittrick and her husband, Duell, Jeffrey  Farley and Weston Farley; many great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank Brownell and his wife, Pam; her two sisters, Violet Tobin and Janice Frisbie;  several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 155 Ballard Road in Wilton, with the Rev. Jeffrey Stratton, pastor officiating.

All are welcome to a gathering at the church, following the memorial service.

Patricia “Pat” Jacobs (McCarthy)

GLENS FALLS – Patricia “Pat” Jacobs (McCarthy), 83, a lifelong resident of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019 surrounded by family in her home after a short illness.

Born on January 28, 1936 at Glens Falls Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Jere and Laura (Campbell) McCarthy. 

She grew up on Third Street in Glens Falls and graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy in 1954. 

Pat married George “Jake” Jacobs in 1956, and the couple resided in the home that they built on Oneida Street for 58 years. 

She worked at New York Telephone Company as a switchboard operator as a young woman, and after her marriage was a stay-at-home mother to her daughter, Marie.  She also babysat children in her home for many years.  In her later years, she also cared lovingly for Marie’s children, Andrea and Daniel, throughout their childhoods.

Pat was a skilled baker of the world’s best pie crust, and especially enjoyed baking apple pies.  She also loved to crochet afghans and read mystery novels.  She adored camels, and her diverse collection was ever-growing.  She could often be found caring painstakingly for her marigolds, hostas, tiger lilies and other flowers in the summer, or playing solitaire at the kitchen table in winter. 

She and Jake were longtime members of the community at the Talk of the Town restaurant.  They enjoyed spending winters together in Florida for many years, where she especially loved to visit Sea World.

She was a member of and volunteer at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Glens Falls in her early life, and a member of Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church in her later years. 

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, George “Jake” Jacobs; her daughter, Marie Jacobs Johnston; her brother, Richard “Dick” McCarthy (Nancy); and her grandchildren, Andrea (Johnston) Jacobs and Daniel Johnston.

Funeral Services will be held at St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 55 Main St., South Glens Falls, at 11:30 am on Wednesday, August 7, with visitation preceding the service at 10:00 am. 

Patricia will be laid to rest at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery immediately following the funeral. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church.

Joyce M. (Coveleski) Ellis

FORT EDWARD – Joyce M. (Coveleski) Ellis, 81, of Fort Edward passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at her home, with her family by her side.

Born on January 6, 1938 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Omiecinski) Coveleski.

She attended St. Mary’s grade school and was a 1955 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On October 23, 1955, she married Robert Ellis.

She worked for many years at the Fashion Shop in Glens Falls, then retired from Genpak.

Joyce loved hockey and was a season ticket holder for the Adirondack Red Wings, as well as an active member of the Booster Club. She was a participant in the Relay For Life as a Cancer Survivor. Most importantly, she never missed one of her grandchildren’s accomplishments or sporting events.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Anthony F. Coveleski, Jr. and her infant brother, Joseph A. Coveleski.

Survivors include her two children, Ann Marie Williams and her husband, Dennis of Fort Edward and Robert Ellis and his wife, Pamela of Argyle; four grandchildren, Stephanie Williams, Denny Williams and his wife, Kristi, Ashley Ellis and Dylan Ellis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express a special Thank You to all who helped in Joyce’s care over the last 3 months, especially her caregiver, Lisa who was by her side when she passed.

Marilyn (Myette) Garnsey

HUDSON FALLS – Marilyn (Myette) Garnsey, 87, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019.

Born on June 26, 1932, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Florence (Barrett) Myette.

In October 0f 1950, Marilyn married Raymond Garnsey at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.  He passed away on December 20, 2009.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’/St. Paul’s Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, ceramics and camping.  She especially enjoyed time with her family and was a member of the 60Plus Senior Citizens in Hudson Falls.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a son, Raymond “Mike” Garnsey and a special cousin, Jean Delair.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Suzanne Picard and her husband, Herman of Voorheesville, Deborah Diamond and her husband, Frank of Hudson Falls, Terry Garnsey and his wife, Kathy of Limington, ME and Scott Garnsey of Hudson Falls; six grandchildren, Timothy Diamond, Nicholas Diamond, Michael Picard, terry Garnsey, Rachael Garnsey and Christopher Garnsey; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Jane Myette of Hudson Falls; her brother, David Myette of Lake Sunnyside; two special friends, Mary Stewart and Gladys Monahan and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Geraldine “Geri” M. Mound

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Geraldine “Geri” M. Mound, 76, of Town of Moreau passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness.

Born on January 11, 1943, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Hazel M. (Bates) and Donald F. Prouty.

Geri attended Glens Falls High School. On April 26, 1960, she married George H. Mound, Sr. in North Carolina.

In addition to being a stay at home mom for her six children, Geri held many long term jobs throughout the years to include the Hudson Falls Central School district, Georgian Restaurant, Fitzgerald Brothers Beverages, and Entertainment Video.

Along with her husband George, Geri was a past Cub Scout Master of Pack 8 and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 6.

She loved spending time with her family especially during the holidays. And she adored her dog Sammy.

Geri was gifted with many talents and in her early years we can remember her having multiple projects going on at once. Anything from painting, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, etc. She also enjoyed going to auctions, bingo, casinos, garage sales, antiquing and traveling.

Geri was always a caregiver at heart. She was a natural about caring for those in need. She cared for her mother, mother-in-law, a family friend and her husband in their time of terminal illness.

She is predeceased by her husband of 39 years George H. Mound, Sr., her siblings Rodney, Irv, Bob Sr. and Ella.

Survivors include her six children: George (Sherri) Mound, Jr., William Mound, Sr., Michael (Karen Winne) Mound, John (Andree Mosso) Mound, Christine (Michael) Yakush, Jennifer (Glenn) Atchinson. Twenty-one grandchildren: Justin Mound, Aaron (Meagan) Mound, Hillary (Eric) Fitzgerald, Katie Mound, Bill Mound, Jr., Ashley Dunlavey, Anthony Mound, Jessica (Rocky) Casey, Kayla Mound, Tyler (Molly) and Megan Brockway, Kasey Mound, John-John Mound, Tres and Amber Johnson, Jessica (TJ) Brunell, Ryan Yakush, Lauren Yakush, Chris McGuirk, Lexi and Jamey Atchinson. She also has fifteen great-grandchildren.

Three brothers Floyd, Earl and Jim Dean and two sister-in laws Merle Mound and Ruth (Willis) Gonya and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, New York.

A prayer will be said for Geri at 7:00 pm (following the calling hours).

The burial will be held at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Pawlet, VT at the convenience of the family.

Jean M. Parker

MOREAU – Jean M. Parker, 89, of Moreau passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at home.

Born on September 11, 1929 in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena (Guerin) Henderson.

On September 3, 1950 she married James Parker. They were married for 33 years before he passed away in 1983.

Jean worked for many years as a winder at General Electric before retiring.

She was a member of the Fortsville United Methodist Church. Some of her interests include being an avid Mets fan and her love for gardening.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, James and Robert Henderson; her sisters, Ruth Willard and Rose Henderson; and her beloved grandson, Adam Kline.

Survivors include her children, David and Mary Lee Parker of Hudson Falls, Sandy and Rick Kline of Johnstown, Nancy and Gordon Hadsell of South Glens Falls, Kathy and Jeff Hughes of Manchester, Tennessee and her adopted son, Don Paddock of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norma Louise Trackey

HUDSON FALLS – Norma Louise Trackey, 92, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, passed away, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Glens Falls Center.

Born on November 17, 1926 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Louise (Stockwell) Chase.

Norma enjoyed bowling, bingo, reading and most of all being around babies and surrounded by her family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Trackey, her brother, Nelson Chase, Sr., her sister, Ellen Hodge, as well as her in laws.

Survivors include her children, Joseph (Doris) Trackey of Hudson Falls, Ronald (Jacqueline) Trackey, Sr. of Queensbury, Timothy (Nancy) Trackey of South Glens Falls, Linda (Stephen) Green of Hudson Falls, Mark (Aileen) Trackey of Hudson Falls, Joy Lindsey of Moreau, May (Christopher) Keays of Georgia, Valerie (Daniel) Ryan of Moreau and David (Kathleen) Trackey of Glens Falls; 14 grandchildren, Joseph (Rachel) Trackey, Ronald (Angela) Trackey, Stacy Trackey-Meagher, Elizabeth Trackey, Garrison Trackey, Jennifer (Jerry) Kadien, Walter (Denise) Green, John “Jake” Trackey and Brianne Keith, Brittany Lindsey, Rebecca Keays, Amanda (Justin) Rodriguez, Joshua Ryan, Paul Trackey and Helena Trackey; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bertha Marie (Lewis) Ingraham

HUDSON FALLS – Bertha Marie (Lewis) Ingraham, 93, of Locust Street, Hudson Falls passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Born on February 23, 1926 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Gertrude Mae (Beaudoin) Lewis.

Bertha married her High School Sweetheart, John Herbert Ingraham (the son of Herbert L. and Susan (Baker) Ingraham) on March 23, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls. They were married for 69 years (18 days short of 70 years) up to the day John Herbert Ingraham passed on March 5, 2016. They celebrated their honeymoon on Garnet Lake in Garnet Lake, NY.

Bertha was employed in 1944 doing clerical work for The Griffin Lumber Co. of Hudson Falls. In 1945, she was employed by The Imperial Paint and Pigment Company in Queensbury, also doing clerical work.

Bertha was a devoted and loving mother of six children: Jack Edward Ingraham, Robert Lewis Ingraham, Gerald Elliot Ingraham, Jane Eileen Barsukoff, Diane Marie Cabral and Katherine Elaine Jones.

Bertha’s favorite pastimes involved family gatherings, cooking, baking her favorite “Never Fail Chocolate Cake”, a family recipe which was handed down from her mother (from whom was handed down by her mother). She also enjoyed having Fish Fry’s with her famous cottage cheese pancakes and spoiling all her grandchildren with love.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Herbert Ingraham; her parents, George Henry and Gertrude Mae (Beaudoin) Lewis; and her siblings, George Lewis, Donald Lewis and Violet (Lewis) Cox.

Survivors include: her sister, Nancy (Lewis) Hutyanszki; her children, Jack Edward Ingraham, Robert Lewis Ingraham, Gerald Elliot Ingraham, Jane Eileen Barsukoff, Diane Marie Cabral and Katherine Elaine Jones; her 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

At the request of Bertha, there will be no services.

Hazel Mae Trackey

FORT EDWARD – Hazel Mae Trackey, 90, of Seminary Street, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on March 19, 1929, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jennie (Stewart) LaPoint, Sr.

Hazel attended St. Mary’s Academy in Hudson Falls. Following school, she went to work at Kresge’s (Five and Dime) as a fountain girl.  While working at the store, she met her future husband and the love of her life, John Francis Trackey.  He lovingly called her his “Five and Ten Cent Girl”.  They were married on August 20, 1950, at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.  Together they shared 66 wonderful years, until he passed away on July 24, 2016.

Through the years, Hazel babysat over 48 children and enjoyed every moment.  She also was secretary to John P. Burke, who was President of the International Paper Workers Union.  For a short period of time, she was employed by Glens Falls Insurance Company and finally, she was deputy Town Clerk, under Edith Amorosi. 

Even though she worked outside the home for many years, her heart was with her family.  Hazel took wonderful care of her husband, her children and her home.  She had an open-door policy, at all hours, you were welcome for hugs, coffee and conversation.

Hazel was a faithful communicant and Eucharistic Minster at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three infants, who passed away at childbirth, Jean, Jane and John and her two sisters, Adelaide Duval and Nathalie Hammond.

She is survived by her two loving children, Anne Carpenter and her husband, Edward of Fort Edward and Michael Trackey and his wife, Diana of Queensbury; her adoring grandchildren, Blaine Carpenter and his wife, Lisa of Fort Edward, Jennie Carpenter and her partner, Amber Allen of Queensbury and Lauren Trackey of Queensbury; her great-grandchildren, Finley John Carpenter and Cora Hazel Carpenter; her siblings, Barbara Lemery of Hudson Falls, Lois King of Florida, June Traver of Fort Edward and Edward LaPoint, Jr. of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn Louise Vaughn

HUDSON FALLS – Carolyn Louise Vaughn, 69, passed away unexpectedly, on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Shenendoah Acres Campground in Virginia.

Born on January 30, 1950, in Granville, she was the daughter of the late Paul R. and Jesse (Bounds) Whitney.

Carolyn grew up in Granville and attended Granville High School.  She met her future husband, Richard Vaughn, while square dancing and they were married on January of 1971, in Granville.  Richard passed away in 2016, after 48 wonderful years of marriage.

Carolyn was a proud mother of seven children.  She stayed home to crack the whip on her five sons and two daughters.  Carolyn enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.  She also could be found helping her husband with firewood.  Carolyn created a warm, loving, caring home for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone will remember her for being a wonderful cook, who loved preparing meals for her family.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, infant, Laurie Matteson and Valorie Vaughn, her two sons, Stewart Vaughn and Stephen Vaughn and her siblings, Barbara, Betty and Sonny.

She is survived by her sons, Tony Matteson, Sr. and his wife, Diane of Waynesboro, VA, Thomas Matteson and his wife, Sonja of Hudson Falls and Timothy Matteson and his wife, Lannel of Rogers, Texas; grandchildren, Valerie Morrison and her husband, Andrew, Nicole Wright and her husband, Matthew, Tony Matteson, Jr., Mariha Edwards and her husband, Jason, Amanda Smith and her husband, Will and Megan Matteson and her significant other, David, Barbara Vaughn, Kevin Vaughn, Stephen Vaughn, Jr., Christina Vaughn and Sarah Vaughn; her great grandchildren, William, Jonathan, Colton, Brayton, Makenna, Alison and Mercedes; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, August 2, 2019, from 11 to 1 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Prayers for Carolyn will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
