HUDSON FALLS – Gardner L. Eddy, 54, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home, on Sunday, December 15, 2019.
Born on February 17, 1965 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Shirley Wilson and the late James Eddy.
Gardner was a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, where he graduated from Hudson Falls High school in 1983.
He has been with the love of his life, Mary Lynn Martel since 2001. In 2003, he proposed while attending the Daytona 500 in Florida and on June 12, 2004, they were blessed in marriage at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Glens Falls.
For the past 16 years, Gardner was a route salesman for Koffee Kup Bakery and prior to that, for 15 years, he delivered for Wise Chips.
Gardner had many interests. He loved following the Boston Red Sox and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. For many years, he coached his daughter, Marissa’s softball team and loved watching her play sports. He was a bit of a pool shark and passed his pool skills to his son, Derek. Together with Derek, he enjoyed working on his GTO and talking about sports. Gardner was a GTO enthusiast and loved all cars. Rain or shine, every year to show off his GTO, he looked forward to spending the entire weekend with his wife at the Adirondack Nationals Car Show in Lake George. His favorite times were driving his GTO with his kids by his side. Family was so important to him. He cherished eating out with family and friends and going to the Recovery Room, where he knew everyone. Gardner was so well liked. He had an infectious smile and laugh, never in a bad mood. Wherever he went, he always knew someone and shared a bit of life with them. Gardner also enjoyed traveling. He went to Disney with his family and enjoyed trips to Memphis to visit his brother.
Gardner was loved by his family, friends and everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Duane Eddy, his stepfather, Walter Wilson, his uncle, Ralph Williams, his in laws, Robert E. and Marie L. Martel and brother in law, Robert W. Martel.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 15 years, Mary Lynn Eddy of Hudson Falls; his two children, Derek Eddy of South Glens Falls and Marissa Eddy of Hudson Falls; his mother, Shirley Wilson of Schuylerville; his siblings, Sharon Hill of Mooresville, NC, James “Randy” Eddy and his wife, Catherine of Collierville, TN, Darryl Eddy and his girlfriend, Janet Bates of Hartford and Lisa LaChapelle and her husband, Ron of South Glens Falls; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gardner “Bubba” had many friends too numerous to list; and his beloved pets, Mookie his dog and Butterscotch his cat.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Following the funeral service, everyone is welcome to join the family at Saluto’s on Main Street in Hudson Falls to celebrate Gardner’s life.

FORT EDWARD – June L. Traver, 83, a longtime Fort Edward resident, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family, as a result of complications from a fall.

Born on June 8, 1936, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jennie (Stewart) Lapoint.  In 1955, she married William Traver, who passed in January of 2006.

June was a communicant and Eucharistic minister for many years at St. Joseph’s Church.

June was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her most important goal in life was to be a loving and caring person to her family and friends.  Her door was always open to those who needed a hot meal, wanted to enjoy a good cup of coffee and have a good conversation.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, holidays and bragging about her family.  June was the center of her family universe and extended friends and family.   Always loving a good time, she enjoyed a good jitterbug and a family gathering.   She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her grandaughter, Kathleen “Beaner” Traver and her three sisters, Adelaide, Hazel and Nathalie.

She is survived by her children, Cindy Burke and her husband, Dan of Queensbury, Cheryl Godfrey of Plattsburgh, Colleen Stockwell and her husband, Mark of Hudson Falls, Matthew Traver and his wife, Mary of Fort Edward and Claire Bromley and her husband, Brian of West Fort Ann; her grandchildren, Michael (Christa) Burke, Patrick (Ashley) Burke, Meghan (Mark) Quaresima , Lindsay (Sonny) Farnsworth, Sarah (Steven) Shutts, Mary-Ellen (Vincent)  Stockwell, Mark (Cassandra) Stockwell, Tara (Jack) Ketcham, Matthew “Bud” (Cathleen) Traver, Amanda (Andy) Kostyk and Laura (Chris) Fischer.  16 great grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Lemery and Lois King, a brother, Edward Lapoint, Jr. several nieces, nephews and cousins and a life-long friend, Sharon Roberts.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 am on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Hudson Falls – Ruth K. Hogan, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends in the comfort of her own home.

Born November 20, 1934, in Schuylerville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Mary Ellen (McLaughlin) Hughes.

Ruth graduated from Schuylerville High School in 1951 at the age of 16 where she was coined Athlete of the Year. Ruth’s unconditional love and compassion was evident early on when she put her life on hold to take care of her ailing mother to ensure her peaceful passing.

After high school, she began working at the Glens Falls Insurance Company where she was introduced to the self-proclaimed dairy tycoon from Hudson Falls, Francis J. Hogan. Frank, again with his “self-proclaimed” charm, good looks and wit was able to sweep her off her feet. Frank and Ruth were married on June 16, 1956, at the Church of Visitation in Schuylerville. There began her unbelievable journey of managing both a large and ever expanding family as well as the family business, Hogan’s Dairy. Being a homemaker, she was able to devote her full attention to Frank in building a large, unique and drama filled life with several comedic adventures.

Ruth was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, her faith was of great importance to her. She was a huge supporter of St. Mary’s Academy and volunteered many hours and much of her time while her children were attending. She and her sister-in-law, Betty Hogan, were staples at their Annual Christmas Bazaar. What other little free time she had was spent playing bridge, volunteering for the Glens Falls Hospital Guild and impromptu shopping trips with her beloved sisters-in-laws and close friends.

Ruth’s fondest memories were created when she was around family and friends. Most of all, Ruth loved entertaining whether it be at the farm or ‘Camp Hogan’ on Summit Lake where she cherished her time with fun filled company. For 11 years in a row she was voted ‘Loudest Voice on the Lake.’ Ruth was President of the Dunham’s Basin Wine Tasting Committee, a position she devoted enormous amounts of time and research on. Ruth treasured her lunch dates with her sisters-in-laws, friends and members of the Naughty Ladies of Shady Lane.

In addition to her parents and her in-laws, John J. and Catherine Hogan, she was predeceased by her husband Frank on March 9, 2000, her brother Robert Owen Hughes on March 27, 2001 and several treasured in-laws and close friends.

She is survived by son, Andrew Hogan of Hudson Falls, son, Sean (Courtney) Hogan of Hudson Falls, son David ‘Buggar’ (Lisa) Hogan of Queensbury, favorite blue-eyed daughter, Mary Ellen of Del Mar, CA, son Kerry Hogan of Hudson Falls, son PJ (Jessica) Hogan and favorite brown eyed daughter, Sarah (David) Hogan-Gauci of Hudson Falls; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Hogan, Shane Hogan, Kristin Hogan, Dylan Hogan, Jake Hogan, Sean Francis Hogan, Jack Hogan-Maguire, Reagan Collier-Hogan, Maggie Hogan, Lily Kathryn Hogan-Maguire, Andrew Hogan, Nicole Hogan, Drew Francis Gauci, Clare Gauci and Lola Kathryn Hogan, great grandchildren, Trinity Cote, Dalton Hogan, Joseph Hogan and Carter Francis House;  daughter-in-law, Kelly Hogan; sisters and brothers in-law, Joan Hughes of Schuylerville, Jim & Joan Hogan of Auburn, Jeanne Hogan of Auburn, Betty Hogan of Hudson Falls, Roger Hogan of Hudson Falls, Darlene Hogan of Hudson Falls, and Bob Hogan of Queensbury and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, December 14 at the Church of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch officiating.

The Rite of Committal will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

Andy, Sean, Buggar, Mary Ellen, Kerry and P.J. would like to offer their immense appreciation to their sister Sarah for her unconditional care and compassion she provided to mom without which her last few years would never have been as happy and rewarding as they were. Who would have thought that Frank and Ruth’s “biggest surprise” would be “their greatest gift”?

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Michael “Mike” Wiley, 53, passed away, after a short Illness, on December 3, 2019 at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on May 12, 1966 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Bruce and Marjorie (Campion) Wiley.
Mike attended Hudson Falls High School, where he enjoyed pitching on the baseball team.
He also enjoyed traveling with his father and occasionally with the entire family to football and baseball games and NASCAR races. In the past, his favorite teams to watch were the Kansas City Royals and the New England Patriots. Mike spent many hours scanning through the guide to pick out a TV show that would interest him.
The family sends a special thank you to Steve Bhatti, Mike’s landlord, who treated him like family and always made sure he had a working TV. They also are very thankful for the love and care given by his friends, Sue and Daryl, T2 Oncology and High Peaks Hospice. They are most appreciative for the Behavioral Health Unit at the Glens Falls Hospital for years of care and Lori Bishop, Director of Care Management at Warren Washington County Association for Mental Health for all she has done for Mike through the years.
Survivors include his two sisters, Deborah Wiley and her partner, Julie Everson of Moreau and Sharon Wiley of Queensbury; his nephews, Nick (Rachel) Graham of Gansevoort and Brian Kozelouzek of Glens Falls; his niece, Lacey (Kendall) Kozelouzek of Hudson Falls; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial will be at Union Cemetery at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

GLENS FALLS – Dominic Alexander “Dommer Doo” Smith, 17, of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2019 at Albany Medical Center.

Born on March 12, 2002 in Albany, he was the son of Jason A. Smith and the late Trudy Chesney.

Dominic attended Myers Center Exceptional Learner Center in Saratoga Springs. He was an exemplary student who stood out.   Dominic loved everyone at the school and was also well liked by all those who were in his life.  He was a selfless young man who made everyone around him smile.  Even in his death he helped others.  Dominic shared himself through organ donation.  He had fun with everything in his life.  Dominic had many ambitions.  He loved to sing, dance, play guitar with his teacher, Frank Palangi.  Dominic surrounded himself with music and his favorite band, Halestorm. 

Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his grandfathers, Brian Chesney, Lee Smith and Stanley Pultorak, his gram, Joan Ramsey, his great uncle, Michael Ramsey and his cousin, Jesse James Smith.

Those left behind to grieve are is father, Jason (Tammy) Smith of Glens Falls; his step dad, Duane Breault of Fort Ann; his siblings, Alexandra Smith of Delaware, Mackenzie Porter (Smith) of Glens Falls, Victoria French of Hudson Falls, Michelle Barber of Queensbury and Jason Hart of Queensbury; his grandparents, Eleanor (Papa Ted) LaFreniere of Glens Falls, Melody Chesney of Hudson Falls and Tammy Rivers of Hudson Falls; his aunts and uncles, Brian (Nancy) Chesney of South Glens Falls, Christy (Mike) Smith of Fort Edward, Patricia (Ardy) Genier of Hudson Falls; Leland (Ashley) Smith, Jr. of Hudson Falls; Lisa Smith of Hudson Falls, Matthew (Lisa) Pultorak of VA, Charity Bosford of Lake Luzerne and Melissa (James) Lawson; many loving cousins, great uncles and aunts; and friends, too numerous to name.

HUDSON FALLS – Irene E. Roccasecca, 95, formerly of Earl Towers, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, at the Glens Falls Center in West Glens Falls.

Born on July 16, 1924 in Keeseville, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Rachel (Way) Mussen.

In 1943, she graduated from Keeseville Central School.

After graduating from high school, Mrs. Roccasecca was employed at Native Textiles in Glens Falls and The Scott Paper Company in Fort Edward.

While working at Scott Paper Company, she met and married her former husband, Salvatore Roccasecca.  For many years, Mrs. Roccasecca was a hostess at her son’s restaurant, Saluto’s located in Hudson Falls. 

While raising three children, Mrs. Roccasecca spent many hours in the kitchen, cooking for her family.   She also loved to go square dancing.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.

Mrs. Roccasecca enjoyed going to meetings at the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Queensbury Post 6196 Ladies Auxiliary, Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574 Ladies Auxiliary and 40/8 Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Philip Mussen and James Mussen; her sister, Catherine LaFountain; and her grandson, Salvatore Roccasecca

Survivors include her three children, Bernard Roccasecca and his wife, Tina of Glens Falls, Jeffrey Roccasecca  and his wife, Maureen of Hudson Falls and Marianne Burnham of Hudson Falls; four grandchildren, Andrew Dickson, Danita Winchell and her husband, Ken, Scott Burnham, Jr. and Sean Burnham; her sister, Grace Good and her husband, Dwight all of Keeseville; her brother in law, Norman LaFountain; her sisters in law, Mary Edna Mussen and Carmella Mussen; her honorary daughter, Betsey Dunkley of Lake George; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

HUDSON FALLS – Thomas Lee Graham, 70, of Washburn Drive, died on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at his home after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born on August 3, 1949, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George Henry Graham Sr and Mildred (Farr) Friedman.

Thomas was a 1969 graduate of Hudson Falls High School, where he attended B.O.C.E.S, Future Farmers of America.

He married Judith Ann Yole on August 30, 1969, at the home of Edward and Mildred Friedman in Middle Falls, NY by the Rev. Maurice E. Korb.

Thomas worked as a Corrections Officer for NYS DOCS, he retired from Washington Correctional in 2004. He also worked as a School Bus Driver for 46 years retired from Hudson Falls CS in 2015.

He was a previous member of the Fort Ann Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad and at one time served as Captain.

Besides his parents, Thomas was predeceased by a brother, Robert R. Graham in June 2014 and brother-in-law Terrance Bruno in March 2019.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Graham of Hudson Falls; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Mark LaFay of Hudson Falls; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Tonia Graham, II. of Surprize, AZ, and Shaun and Rebecca Graham of Broadalbin; seven beloved grandchildren, Nicole and Andrew LaFay of Hudson Falls, Briana and her fiancée, Adrian Marquez, Brendan and Brooke Graham of Surprise, AZ,  and Connor and Noah Graham of Broadalbin; three sisters, Mary Lou and Emil Novohradsky, Susan Barrett, and Nancy Bruno; four brothers, George H. Graham Jr., Edward E. Graham and wife, Carolyn, Joseph M. Graham, and Charles E. Friedman and his wife, Lisa; several nieces and nephews;  his beloved ‘Therapy Dog’, “Zoey”, a much appreciated gift from Charles and Lisa Friedman; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Douglas Ryan, and Nancy L. Blanchard-Bartlett, who was a special additional member of our family, that had countless daily chats with Tom and helped raise our children.

Friends may call on Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 11 to 2 p.m. at the Gospel Lighthouse Church, 30 LaCross Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Church, with the Reverend Paul Mead, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
