HUDSON FALLS — Celia E. Clippinger, 85, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Slate Valley Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Granville.

Born on July 11, 1934 in Fair Haven, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mae (Gates) Ballard. After her mother’s death, she and her siblings were raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Lillian and Wallace Manchester.

Celia grew up in Wells, Vermont and graduated from Granville High School.

On October 20, 1962, she married Robert G. Clippinger. He passed away on September 13, 2000, after 38 years of marriage.

Up until about a year ago, she was still working cleaning homes and assisting some of her closet friends. She was a dependable hard worker who made many friends helping others. Throughout her life, Celia was a caregiver. She loved preparing meals, shopping and sitting for her elderly friends. Celia also enjoyed playing cards, going to lawn sales, participating in flea markets and collecting an assortment of her favorite things. She was a wonderful cook, best known for her baked beans and rice pudding.

Besides her parents, husband, aunt and uncle, she was predeceased by her two sons, John R. Taylor (2019) and Robert S. Clippinger (2000), her siblings, Jeannine (Isaac) Wright, Shirley Hogan, Richard Ballard and Betty Manchester.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne (Patrick) Appler of Granville; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Julie) Appler, Damian (Kim) Appler, Michael (Rebecca) Taylor, Eric (Crystal) Taylor, Zackery (Mindy Roche) Clippinger, Jacob Clippinger and Dakota Clippinger; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margo Ballard and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

HUDSON FALLS – Lisa M. Tougaw, 47, of 70 Oak Street, passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, April 3, 2020, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 23, 1972 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Michael Tougaw of South Glens Falls & Dale (Monroe) Brauser & Jerry Brauser of Moreau.

She dedicated most of her professional life to housekeeping, but most recently was a home maker. Her hobbies included painting, fishing, caring for the grandchildren for which she cherished and playing with her dog Lilly and cat Benny. She was lovingly known as “Boo” by her father.

She was predeceased her grandparents Vida and Arthur Monroe, Albert and Theresa Almy, Great grandparents Leonard and Genevieve Tougaw.

Besides her parents previously mentioned, she is survived by her fiancé Michael Hermance ll, her daughter Shelby Sharrow and fiancé Nicholas Quinn, son Christopher VanGuilder and fiancé Paula Suarez, step-daughter Briana Hermance, two granddaughters, Emma & Paisley and step-granddaughter Aubree, her brothers and sisters, brother Michael Joseph Tougaw and his wife Elizabeth of Dixon MO, sisters Tammy (Tougaw) Shaw and her husband Tim of Bolton Landing, Michelle (Tougaw) Aiken and her husband Richard of Glens Falls, Michael J Tougaw and fiancé Danielle Sweet of Whitehall, sister in-law Carla Fish and significant other Robert,  Nephews and nieces Joseph, Amber, Cassie, Devin, Raislan, Michael, Ryan, Alex, Matthew, Brandt, Christian and Brandon as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

KINGSBURY – Susan Ann “Susie” Kaveny, 68, of Kingsbury, died peacefully from brain cancer, at The Pines in Glens Falls, surrounded by love on April fools-day, April 1, 2020 .

Born on August 26, 1951 in Canandaigua, she joined her parents, the late Robert L. and Dorothy Mary (Smith) Kaveny, Sr. in heaven.

In 1969, Susan graduated from Hudson Falls High School and soon after began her life-long career at Macy’s Department Store in Colonie.

Susan had a great love for animals, especially her four cats.  She treated them as if they were her children.  She also loved her horse, Spring.  Susan spent many hours riding and brushing her horse’s beautiful coat.  She shared her love of horses with Colleen O’Rourke and enjoyed spending time with her and her dog, Haylee in Vermont.

Susan enjoyed listening to the peepers in the spring, watching fireflies and taking rides in the country with her family. One of her favorite drives was along the Tow Path where she watched and took photos of big birds of prey, the ospreys and hawks, turtles and ducks.  It was a special time for Susan to go on whale watches and eating seafood in Cape Cod and Maine.  She loved spending time at the ocean.  Finally, she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, having her first cup of coffee in the morning and an occasional sip of Baileys Irish Cream.

She loved watching TV, the holidays, especially Christmas and Easter. Her favorite holiday time was searching for Easter eggs in her crocs with her five grandnieces, whom she simply adored.

Those left to miss her are her siblings, Robert L. (Marilyn) Kaveny, Jr. of Florida and Margaret Nims of Kingsbury; her nephews, Adam (Jenn) Nims and Chad (Trisha Sawyer) Nims, all of Hartford; her five grandnieces, Ally, Karlee and Tori Nims, Ava Nadeau and Lilly Nims; several cousins, including, Kathy Gillis and family of Victor and Dr. Amy Gillis and family of San Francisco; two very special friends, Deborah and Pat Norris and their children and Donna Zobie and her family.

Susan may you rest in peace.  Your body is now healed, and your soul is set free.  May you now fly with the angels till we meet again.  We miss you and will always have you in our hearts.  As her sister always said, “See you later alligator and she would respond “After while Crocodile.”

Susan’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Pines for the wonderful care and compassion given to Susan and her family.  They made her feel at home and loved.

Burial will be at Kingsbury Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents.

KINGSBURY – David C. Manley passed away at home after a long illness.

Born on Oct. 10, 1942, in Glens Falls, Dave was the son of the late Elias (Bud) and Doris (Dot) Manley.

In 1960 Dave married his wife Jo at the Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Hudson Falls.

Dave worked for Hudson Falls Central School District for over 40 years. Many a day Dave could be found mowing the fields around the school or working on the equipment that helped the school run.

Dave loved his workshop, riding on his tractors or motorcycle and taking apart this or that.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother, his sister Joyce Bramer, brother Roger Manley and several in-laws and cousins.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Jo Manley of Hudson Falls; his children, David Manley of Hudson Falls, Stephen and Lisa Manley of Bonaire, GA and Donna Riley and Peter Sheeran of Hartford; his grandchildren: Rebecca Allen, Kyle Manley, Quinn Manley, Meg Gallagher and Victoria Manley and his sister-in-law Mitzi Robinson. Plus many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to offer a special thank you to; Tom and Eva Brown, Jim and Pam Shavau, Tom and Jeanie Belden, and Dr. Joe Mihindu and his staff.

ARGYLE – James Rolland Armstrong, 90, died peacefully, Thursday evening, March 19, 2020, at Slate Valley Complex Nursing Home in Granville, where He had resided tor two years due to Alzheimer’s Disease.  His wife Dale was at his side.

Jim, born on December 4, 1929, to James Kellogg Armstrong and Gertrude M. (Robbins) in Ticonderoga.

Jim spent his early years in the north woods, where his father worked as a guide and trapper.  He loved the quiet woods and was happiest there.

In 1948, he graduated from Woestina High School and two years later was drafted by the U.S. Army.  Serving in post war Germany he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.

Back in New York, he worked as a printer at Chase Bag and he retired years later from the Maintenance and Security Department at ACC.

When not working, Jim was able to work with his boys to build a long home with beautiful stonework and fireplace.  Preparing early for retirement, he bought a farm in Argyle covered by acres of forest.  There he built his own log home with stonework and fireplace.  It glowed under his care.

The rural cemetery at South Argyle Presbyterian Church was totally overgrown by brush Jim and his boys reclaimed the land and totally refurbished the cemetery.  For many years Jim was its Sexton and Caretaker.

When he married Evelyn Durkee, Jim became an instant stepparent to her seven children; Crosby Durkee (Cheryl), Donna Peters (Frank) and Jim Durkee.  Predeceasing him were Clint Durkee, George Durkee, Doug Durkee and Dave Durkee.  The Three Armstrong children are Joy Hennessey (Steven) and Jody Armstrong, survive him and Mark Armstrong predeceased him.

In 1995, Jim married Dale Evarts and her two children are Wendell Evarts (Erica) and Wendy Evarts.

Jim was a quiet man, a friend and his word was good.

A memorial service and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

GRANVILLE – Christine Fay O’Neill, 68, a longtime resident of Granville Center in Granville, was taken by the angels after a long illness on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

Born on January 23,1952 at Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Dorvee) Pickett.

Chris graduated from South High in South Glens Falls in 1970 and Adirondack Community College in 1975.  Her work history included many different careers. Her most rewarding job was as a certified nurse’s aide at several nursing centers in the area. Chris liked reading, crocheting, camping and swimming.

Besides her parents, Chris was predeceased by her two husbands and several siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Kelley; her son John Oakes; three grandchildren; her stepmother, Florence Pickett; her brother, Paul Pickett of Queensbury and her close family friend, Mary Sue Saville.

HUDSON FALLS – Marie A. (Norton) Monahan, 94, of Clark Street, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family, on March 28, 2020.

Born on July 14, 1925, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Lewis B. and Lida (Boulet) Norton.

On June 3, 1945, she married Richard T. Monahan, at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  He passed away on September 29, 2013, after 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Marie was a past Vice President and Director of Monahan & Loughlin, Inc. in Hudson Falls.  She also was an officer of Mim Realty in Indian Lake and Moon Realty in Hudson Falls.

Marie was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and was a former member of Court Mater Dei # 1442 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She attended Hudson Falls High School.

She was a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls and enjoyed playing golf and going out to eat and enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail.  Marie’s family was her life.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Marie also enjoyed spending time with her husband, Richard, at their second home in Indian Lake, attending hockey games and following hot air balloons.  Most of all, she and Richard loved just being together enjoying each other’s company.

Besides her husband, Marie was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael L. Monahan.

Survivors include her son, Patrick J. Monahan and his wife, Joan, of Moreau; her three daughters, Kathleen Hallenbeck and her husband, Kurt of Hudson Falls, Karen McLaughlin of Hudson Falls and Joanne Davidson and her husband, Jeffrey of Hudson Falls; her daughter in law, Donna Monahan of Naples, Florida; her thirteen grandchildren, Brian Monahan and his wife, Bridget, David Monahan and his wife, Marika, Michelle Santor and her husband, Jason, Stephen Monahan and his wife, Meegan, Sean Monahan,  Christine Monahan, Marc Monahan and his wife, Desiree, Joshua Hallenbeck and his wife, Paula, Mickey McLaughlin, Heather Battiste and her husband, Joseph, Erin McLaughlin and her significant other, Lucas, Chelsea Lemon and her husband, Wil and Melissa Davidson; 34 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at the conclusion of the current pandemic.  A date and time will be announced in a later edition of the Post-Star.

The Rite of Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, at the convenience of the family.

In Marie’s words, she would like everyone to “have a day.”.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Joseph “D.J.” Gorrie, 29. His family will miss his beautiful blue-green eyes, his bright smile, his easygoing personality and loving heart.

David was born on March 11, 1991 to his parents Anne E. McKinney and David A. Gorrie.

David was a graduate of South High, class of 2009.  He was a proud Bulldog, who lettered in basketball, baseball and football four years of High School.   He looked forward to wearing dress clothes and a tie, before suiting up for games with his teammates.  David played All-Star baseball and football.  His favorite baseball positions were shortstop and pitcher.  David received the 2008 Class “A” Football All-Star Team Punter First Team Award.  Besides sports, he looked forward to participating in the Marathon Dance, dancing his heart out, with schoolmates, for the recipients.

Following high school, David attended Adirondack Community College majoring in Liberal Arts.  He played for the Timberwolves baseball team, earning a Varsity Award, then transferred to Schenectady County Community College for Spring of 2001 to continue classes and play for their Royals baseball team.

David had a love for sports, whether participating, watching, teaching his mom, or learning from his dad at an early age.  He was a faithful fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys.  David also attended and enjoyed the hockey games at the Cool Insuring Arena.

He received his security guard training certificate in 2017.  He had since been employed by Great Escape Theme Park and Lodge and the Cool Insuring Arena as a security guard.   David enjoyed his jobs and worked with wonderful team members.  From Great Escape he received several certificates of appreciation and gratitude and the Security Guard of the Month Award and Lead of the Year in 2019.

David was predeceased by his grandfather, William Gorrie, his grandmother, Harriet Gorrie, his uncle, Billy Gorrie and his aunt, Theresa Ryther.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving parents, Anne E. McKinney and David A. Gorrie; his grandmother, Joan McKinney; his grandfather, Dave McKinney; his aunts and uncles, Steve and Maureen McKinney, Brian and Shelly McKinney, Rich and Karen (McKinney) Lancette, Mary and Bill Weseman, Peter and Mary Gorrie, Debbie Gorrie/ Michael Seabury, Annie Gorrie (Al Bardin) and Amber and Brian Imotichey; many fun-loving cousins; and friends and co-workers, who meant so much to him. 

Because of the current health care crisis, calling hours and a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s The Archangel Church will be private.  There will be a celebration of David’s life at a later date, when it is safe for all his family and friends to gather.

David, your mind is at peace, your body is at rest and your spirit is in Heaven.  We love you always.  We will miss you so very much.  We will keep you in our hearts and thoughts and cherish and share our wonderful memories of you in all the days to come.  Until we meet again, may you rest in peace.

QUEENSBURY – Richard (Rich) Warren Baudoux, 73, died on March 26, 2020, after a long illness of which he gave a good fight. Stubborn to the end, he gave his all as he did in everything he has done during his life.

Born on January 9, 1947 in Trenton, NJ, Rich grew up in Edison and Westfield, NJ.  He was the son of the late Lillian M. (Olsen) Baudoux and Zen Charles Baudoux II.

Rich lived in NC and FL before finally coming to NY in his remaining years. He was a jack of all trades and master of them all as well! Rich could do anything he put his mind to. He learned to play the guitar at an early age, and it was a major part of his life. Rich was proud that he and his band, The Fabulous Dimensions were the opening act for Jimmy Clanton at the Flagship in Union, NJ, way back in the 1960’s. He worked several jobs while still in school, always busy at something. He did everything with perfection and precision. Woodworking was a specialty, building elaborate staircases, one of which was featured in a magazine. Rich served in Panama during his stint in the US Army.

Besides his parents, Rich was predeceased by his older brother, Zen Charles Baudoux III., and his longtime companion, Dixie Britton.

Rich leaves behind his sons, Richard Baudoux Jr. of Willmington, Delaware, Casey Baudoux of Belle Meade, NJ; his daughter, Michelle Burris (Billy) of St. George’s, Delaware; his grandchildren, Danielle Baudoux, Billy and Christine Burris; his sister, Candi Seiler and her husband Pat of South Glens Falls; his brother, Clay Baudoux of Garner, NC and many loving nieces and nephews.

The memory of Rich should be as the happy go lucky man he used to be.

HUDSON FALLS – Elizabeth Clara “Betty” Brunelle, 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in Glens Falls, after a long illness.

Born on April 11, 1940 in Hadley-Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Harold Johnson and Charlotte Rebecca Mickel .

Betty and her husband, James Brunelle, Sr., were united in marriage on September 28, 1957.

Throughout her life, she worked for many area businesses.  But, her primary life-long job was as a loving and supportive wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend to all who knew her.   Betty also spent decades supporting the Hudson Falls Fire Company and the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company.   Her work ethic and devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed.

Betty enjoyed reading, bowling, camping, clambakes, holiday dinners and taking care of her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, John Johnson and Joseph Johnson and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include her husband of over 62 years, James Brunelle, Sr., four daughters, Kathy Palmer (late Henry), Sue Studler (Andy), Pamela Brayton (Dan), Mary Chase (Nelson) all of Hudson Falls; two sons, James Brunelle, Jr. (Michelle) of Hudson Falls and Thomas Brunelle (Jenn) of Granville; her brothers, Doug Johnson of Fort Ann and Arthur Johnson of Whitehall; 15 grandchildren, Shaun, Heather, David, Beth, Colin, Dereck, Matthew, Ethan, Christopher, Emily, Abbie, Megan, Jenann, Kristen and Thomas, Jr ; 12 great grandchildren (3 on the way), her best friend, Marilyn Spiezio; and so many other, too numerous to list.

HUDSON FALLS – Joanne M. Kibling, 53, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 24, 2020.

Born August 30, 1966 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Ralph G. Kibling and the late Judith M. (Havens) Kibling. 

Joanne was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and after attended SUNY Plattsburgh.  She obtained her Associates Degree from Adirondack Community College.

She worked for many years at AngioDynamics, Inc. in Queensbury as a quality assurance inspector.  Most recently, Joanne worked for her best friend, Tammy, at Bubbles and Sun. 

Joanne was a free spirit who enjoyed traveling anywhere.  She loved going camping and just being outdoors.  She enjoyed riding horses and going to music concerts with “the girls”.  She often could be found attending tractor pulls with her dad.  The most important role in Joanne’s life was being a grandmother.  She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world. 

Survivors include her father, Ralph G. Kibling of Hudson Falls; her children, Jordan Neumann and his wife, Katie of Queensbury, Benjamin Saville of Latham; her grandchildren, Kenna, Jack and Landon; her siblings,  Michael Kibling and his life companion, Darla of South Glens Falls, Brian Kibling of Glens Falls, John Kibling and his wife, Marion of South Glens Falls, Derek Kibling and his significant other, Sam of Kingsbury, and Glenn Kibling and his wife, Kim of Hartford; her beloved dog, Lily; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

ARGYLE – Bruce E. Miner, 81, formerly of Argyle, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Washington Center. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Born on February 3, 1939 in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mildred (Colvin) Miner.

Bruce graduated from Argyle High School in 1958 and lived in the immediate surrounding area his whole life.  He worked for Scott Paper Company for approximately 35 years as a millwright.   Upon his retirement from Scott Paper, he worked part time at DLV Construction and then the Dollar Tree.

Bruce loved to fish, bowl, watch NASCAR and his beloved NY Yankees.  He also loved metal scrapping with his son, Glenn Miner.  Bruce camped and traveled extensively throughout his life.  His favorite adventure was a vacation to Australia during which he had very long- lasting memories.

Bruce was known for lending a helping hand to those in need, especially if it involved lunch! He very much enjoyed coaching his sons in little league baseball, spending time with his daughter, Christine and watching his daughter, Lori, cheer.   Later in life, he enjoyed watching his granddaughter play sports.  Lastly, “Gumpa” as he was called by grandsons, Josh and Kile, spent many days at afternoon matinees together.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Todd Miner, who passed away in 1963.

Survivors include his former wife, Sandra (Groome) Eastman of Crystal River, FL; his children, Scott Miner (Angela) of Leesburg, VA, Christine Petty (Rob) of Cossayuna, Glenn Miner (Ronnie) of Argyle and Lori Severance (Nick) of Hartford; his grandchildren include, Adam Miner, Victoria Miner, Joshua Miner, Kile Miner, Justin Genier, Nichole McKinney (Brian), Erin Winchell (Charlie), Cailin Severance and Cole Severance; two great grandchildren, Maelyn and Layleigh; as well as many cousins and dear friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his life-long friend, Gary Gilchrist for his assistance through the Argyle American Legion.   Additionally, the family sends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff at the Washington Center.  Lastly, the family deeply appreciates his caring grandson, Kile Miner, who visited him daily at the Washington Center and brought him his favorite hotdogs.

KINGSBURY – Donna M. Graham , 66, of Kingsbury, passed away peacefully, on March 21, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 1, 1953 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Hart) Ringer.

Donna was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On October 28, 1972, she married Walter A. “Rusty “ Graham.  He passed away on July 19, 2009, after 37 years of marriage.

Donna operated Quilts and Crafts by Donna Marie from 1991 to 1997.  Following the closing of her business, she became  the Human Resources Manager at Amsterdam Printing in Queensbury, until her retirement in 2018.

Donna was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church.

The center of her life was her family.  She loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Tom Ringer, Jim Ringer and Barb Short.

Survivors include her children, Mary Graham and her companion, Joe Reynolds, Michelle Hurlburt and her husband, Matt, Michael Graham and Dianne Cantiello and her husband, Lou; her grandchildren, Brian and Elizabeth Hurlburt and Sam and Ben Cantiello; her beloved companion, Paul Bromley; her siblings, Dan Ringer and his wife, Kathy, Cindy Ward and her husband, Mike and Anne Palmer and her husband, Mike; a special aunt, Bev Brown and her husband, Tom; her sisters in law, Loretta Ringer,  Leo Ringer, Jan Pranschke and her husband, Tim and Kathryn Schulenburg and her husband, Neil; her brother in law, Wayne Short; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Yun and Dr. Taylor for the wonderful care and compassion given to Donna and her family.  They also would like to give a special thanks to Anne Palmer and Kathy Ringer, for their love and care.  Donna appreciated all the love and visits from her friends and neighbors.

Because of the current health crisis, calling hours and services will be private.
