SOUTH GLENS FALLS – March 12, 1930 – June 2, 2020   Laurentia (Tia) Leburn Marino, 90, of South Glens Falls, NY died of natural causes on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 while a resident of Brunswick Health & Rehab in Ash, NC.  Tia was at peace and surrounded by family. 

Tia was born March 12, 1930 in Glens Falls, NY to the late Fridolin Lebrun and Marie Beatrice Lemery Lebrun Reeves.  Tia was retired from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals as a medical machine operator. In her younger days, Tia loved to bowl, knit, crochet and cook.  With her late husband, Tony, she was also a member of Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81. Tia was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Glens Falls prior to her move to the Carolinas.

Tia was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Anthony (Tony) Marino, Sr., her parents, brother, Joseph Roland and sister, Bernadette Lebrun, and grandson, Douglas Marino.

Tia is survived by her brother, John Paul Lebrun: children, Tonie (formerly Anthony Jr.) (Susan), Donna Marino Murray (Michael) and Deborah Marino Ermis (Daniel); grandchildren, Melissa Murray Nixon (Michael), Shawn A. Murray Love (John Roberts), Christopher Ermis (Elizabeth), Jennifer Ermis Hamm (Paul Michael), Sharon and Lily Marino.  Loved and known as TT by her great-grandchildren, Tia loved the smiles and antics of Kasey Love, Abby and Evan Nixon, Lexi and Nati Roberts, Daniel, Eva, Catherine and Benjamin Ermis; Grace and Gabe Crawford and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, June 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.   Because of the Covid-19 restrictions, only ten people will be invited into the funeral home at one time.

A graveside service will follow the calling hour on Monday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.

FORT EDWARD – Christopher D. Floutin, 54, passed away at home with his loving family by is side on Monday, June 1, 2020.

Born on March 25, 1966, in Hudson, NY, he was the son of Helen (Bleau) Floutin and the late Ralph Sanford.

Christopher attended Chatham High School.

For several years, he worked as a painter for North Country Painting in Queensbury.

Christopher loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed spending time camping, fishing and spending time in nature.  Christopher was also an avid sports fan, especially the 49ers, the Yankees and watching Jeff Gordon.  He also enjoyed sitting down and listening to country music.  

Most of all, his family was really important to him.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Jack Springer, Sr., his maternal grandparents, Midor D. Bleau and Grace I. (Decker) Bleau and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Helen E. (Bleau) Floutin of Fort Edward; his sister, Melinda Floutin of South Glens Falls; his brothers, Ralph (Kim) Floutin of Texas and Gary Floutin of Florida; his children, Cameron, Billy, Ashley and Nicole; seven  grandchildren; his aunts and uncles marge, Bobby, Elva and Jimmy; his girlfriend, Melissa (Mochrie) McIntosh; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

GLENS FALLS – Vivian Mullen Seeley, 98, formerly of Stitchman Towers, passed away on Monday June 1, 2020, at the Glens Falls Center.

Born on February 28, 1922 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late David and Ethel (Davis) Mullen.

She attended Hudson Falls High School.

In 1939, she married Ward Seeley. They were married 41 years, before he died in 1980.

Vivian worked for 18 years at D’Amico’s Restaurant, formerly located in Hudson Falls.  She the worked for 10 years at Sears Roebuck in Queensbury and later as a receptionist for the American Red Cross in Glens Falls.

The Seeley’s were longtime Hudson Falls residents.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Her enjoyments included golf and bowling.

Vivian was a people person.  She always took care of family and was always there with a helping hand for anyone in need.

In addition to her husband and parents, Vivian is predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Fletcher, a son, Ward Seeley, Jr., a brother David Mullen and three sisters, Rita Infield, Margaret Shields and Betty Trackey.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Dean and her husband, Alvin of Queensbury and Susan Larkins-Gardner and her husband, David of Schenectady; one son, Robert Seeley and his wife, Dee of Cambridge; 25 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Because of the Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private at Moss Street Cemetery.

FORT EDWARD – Thelma Fitzgerald Cook 99, just one week short of 100 years old, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on June 8, 1920 in Schuylerville, she was the daughter of the late James and Lillian (French) Fitzgerald.

On September 9^th, 1939, she married Robert Cook at Notre Dame de Lourdes in Schuylerville. They were married 55 wonderful years before he passed away in 1995.

Thelma was devoted to her work. She loved her job at General Electric in Fort Edward, retiring at the age of 62.

Thelma was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward. She also enjoyed traveling, skiing (water and snow) and spending time with family at her summer home on Hadlock Pond.

Along with her parents and husband, Thelma was predeceased by her brothers, Wickham, Beryl and Kenneth Fitzgerald; and grandson Donald Curtis Jr.

Survivors include her two daughters, JoAnn Curtis and her husband, Donald of Fort Edward and Patricia Boulet and her husband, George of Schenectady; her grandchildren, Thomas Boulet and his wife, Beth of Colorado Springs, CO., Michelle Marchese and her husband, Wayne of Frisco, TX, Christine Roos and her husband Robert of Clifton Park; several great grandchildren and a special nephew Walter Fitzgerald.

Funeral Services at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., will be private, because of the Covid-19 restrictions.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward on June 8^th, her 100^th birthday.

HUDSON FALLS – Brinda Rich Ovitt, 67, of Hudson Falls, passed away at home on May 31, 2020.

She was born April 2, 1953, the daughter of the late Howard and Sylvia (Waterman) Rich. Brinda was also a beloved daughter from a young age to the late Robert and Mildred McAuley of Hudson Falls.

Brinda graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1972.  On June 30, 1973, she married Milford W. Ovitt at the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls.  Their son Jami brought so much love and happiness.  Her lifetime career as a cook and baker brought her much enjoyment through the years.  She retired in May 2015 from the Glen at Highland Meadows in Queensbury.  Family, friends Co-workers and nursing home residents enjoyed her many cooking and baking talents.

Brinda enjoyed weekly card games with friends crocheting and daily phone calls from friends and family.  These gave her much comfort as she dealt courageously with chronic illness.

Brinda was always kind and caring to everyone.  She will be missed every day by so many people who dearly loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jami M. Ovitt, her sisters, Carol Rich and Debbie Rich and her brothers, Howard Rich, Jr., Michael Rich, Robert McAuley, Jr. and Thomas McAuley, Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Milford Ovitt, her grandson, Cody M. Ovitt (Troi); her siblings, Clayton Rich, Timothy Rich, James Rich, Sandra Rich-Kist, Penny Rich, Joyce Huntley, John McAuley (Florence) and Barbara Trombley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

LAKE GEORGE – T. Joyce Cormie, 86, of Ledgeview Drive, and formerly of Moss Street in Kingsbury, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, with her family by her side on Friday, May 29, 2020, at Glens Falls Hospital, in Glens Falls.

Born on October 28, 1933 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Claudine (Webb) Rose.

Joyce was a graduate of the Commerce High School in Springfield, MA. While living in Springfield, she met her first husband, Donald R. Fairbanks.  They were married on July 16, 1953 and shared 33 wonderful years of marriage, until he passed away on December 27, 1985. Years later, a friend introduced Joyce to her second husband, Joseph Cormie.  They were married on October 12, 1988.  He passed away on May 7, 2018, after 29 years of marriage.

Joyce loved spending time with her husbands, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed knitting and crocheting- gifting many of her creations. She tended to her extensive flower and vegetable gardens, spending many years canning her own vegetables, and passing this knowledge down along with great cooking skills. Going to garage sales with her was always an adventure. She was always generous with her time to people in need.

Besides her parents and husbands, Joyce was predeceased by her siblings John Albert Rose, Kenneth Rose, Thomas Rose, George Rose and Claudia Winkel.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen Hilpertshauser and her husband, Glenn of Hudson Falls, Beth Lynn Mabie and her husband, E. David of Chestertown, Amy Jean Harrington and her husband, Jeffery of Plattsburgh, Stephen R. Fairbanks and his wife, Sharon of Hudson Falls and Jack O. Fairbanks and his wife, Sheri of North Carolina; her step children, Larry Cormie, Joseph Cormie, Scott Cormie, Matthew Cormie and Karen Cormie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother John Rose and his wife, Camille of Georgia, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friend Joan.

While her title to us was Mom and Nonnie, she was so much more. She was a passionate role model to her children and grandchildren. She infused her life with love, laughter, wisdom and strength. These qualities we hold close, to help us move forward and pass her strength to our own families.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, graveside services at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury will be private.

QUEENSBURY – John Gordon Reynolds, 79, of Queensbury and formerly of Fort Ann, passed away peacefully, after a six and a half year battle with lung cancer, on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Born on August 16, 1940 in Glens Falls Hospital, he was the fifth of eleven children of the late Shirley (Sherwin) Reynolds and Harold  E. Reynolds, Sr.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany and assigned to the military police.

On February 10, 1963, he married Jeannette Leahy and they remained together until Jeannette’s passing on November 2, 2011.   After Jeannette’s passing, John and his son, Rick would ride to Hartford every Sunday to tend to their plot or in the winter, just to say “Hello”.

From 1963 to 1976, John drove truck for J.E. Sawyer’s in Glens Falls.  In 1976, he became a New York State Correction’s Officer, until he retired in 2001, after 25 years of service. 

John loved following Fort Ann School Sports.   He would travel to as many games as possible.  In his later years, he could be found almost every morning at the Dix Ave. Dunkin Donuts with his good friend, Bobby Wilkins, where they and a small group of friends would be solving the world’s problems.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was predeceased by his siblings, Jean (Alpha “Whitey”) White, Harold “Junior” Reynolds, Raymond Reynolds, Larry Reynolds, Janet Stockman, Joan (Don) Nassivera, Joyce (Don) Daut, Jim Reynolds and Jerry Reynolds, his brother in law, Tom Gentile and his sisters in law, Wendy Wright and Terri Itzo.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Rick and Missy Reynolds; a granddaughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Jarred Russell and their children, “The Apples of His Eyes”, Kendall and Chase (even through his sickness, they could bring a smile to his face by simply saying, “Hi Poppy”; a very special niece and her husband, Laurie and Mike Dunbar and their children, Cody and Brianna Dunbar, whom he thought of as his own grandchildren and they referred to him as “Pop”.  Also he is survived by his step mother, Mary Reynolds; his siblings, Juanita Gentile, Dan (Jeannie) Reynolds, Darlene (Ken) Beecher and Doug (Sarah) Reynolds; his brother in law, Jerry Stockman, Sr; sisters in law, Jane, Erma, Barbara and Marlaine Reynolds; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, since childhood, Hollis Paige.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Stoutenberg, who John respected and trusted greatly and his entire staff, the staffs of the Cancer Treatment Center, Tower 2, Homeward Bound at HHHN, Warren County Health Services and High Peaks Hospice.

HUDSON FALLS – Beverly Ann (Rivette) Spizzo, 84, died May 24, 2020, at her home, after a brief fight with cancer.

She was born October 23, 1935, the oldest child to Wilma (Reede) and Walter Rivette, Sr., in Fair Haven, Vermont.

She graduated from Whitehall High School in 1954, after being named queen of the prom that year.

Beverly started working at the Dairy Bar in Whitehall, where she met John V. Spizzo, Jr. On May 22, 1955 they were married at Our Lady of Angels Church in Whitehall.  Beverly and John were married for 65 years.

While John finished his military service at Sampson Airforce base in Seneca Lake, Beverly was a homemaker.  When they settled in Whitehall, she worked for a coat and clothing manufacturer in Whitehall.

In 1965, Bev and John moved to Hudson Falls.  She worked for Erlangers Fashion in Queensbury, Price Chopper in Glens Falls and finished her working career at her favorite job as cashier in the Hudson Falls High School cafeteria.  She loved chatting with all the students.

While in Hudson Falls, Bev was John’s “assistant” as he ran the American Legion Baseball Team. “Ma”, as the players called her, always had an extra sandwich, soda or her famous spaghetti and meatballs to serve them.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Walter Rivette, Jr., her sister, Michele Fuller and her sisters in law, Madeline Russo, Loretta Spizzo and her brother in law, John Long.

She is survived by her husband, John Spizzo of Hudson Falls; her daughter and best friend, Debbie and her husband, Michael LaPan of South Glens Falls; she is also survived by her greatest pride and joys, her grandson, Kristopher and his wife, Carrie of Saratoga and her grandson, Kameron of New Albany, Ohio., Gram never missed a soccer, baseball, lacrosse, hockey game, concert, play or any activity her beloved grandsons participated in.  Bev is also survived by her siblings, William (Gloria) Rivette of Berea, Ohio, Joan (George) Durett of Queensbury, Joseph (Marty) Sorrentino of Colchester, VT, Marina (Richard) Bolster of Malone and Nancy Long of Hadley Luzerne; her sister in law, Elaine Rivette of Lake George; her brother in law, Charles Fuller of Glens Falls and her brother in law, Anthony Spizzo (Jackie Russo) of South Glens Falls and Largo, Florida.  She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anyone who met mom knew her as a woman with a heart of gold.  She had an infectious personality, always laughing, joking and talking with anyone she met.

A very special thank you to, Aunt Nancy, who spent every other Sunday with Mom, for the last 10 years.  They laughed, reminisced, ate and cleaned out lots of stuff.  Thank you to her, Aunt Marina and Aunt Joan, who helped with mom at the difficult end.

KINGSBURY – Friday, May 15, 2020, James R. Alexander, Sr., 71, of Kingsbury, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born on July 9, 1948 in Glens Falls, the son of the late Robert J. and June (Wagner) Alexander.

On July 15, 1967, he married Stephanie Granger at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

For 33 years, James was employed with the town of Kingsbury Highway Department.

He loved camping with his wife and grandchildren and also having breakfast with his friends.  His favorite memories were the many gatherings he had with his friends and family.

Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Alexander, his sister, Patty and his in laws, Adelbert and Shirley Granger.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Stephanie Alexander; his children, James (Grace) Alexander, Jr., Jaydeen (Kevin) Marr and Joshua Alexander; his sisters, Chris Alexander and Kathy (Terry) Garnsey; his beloved grandchildren, Lorrie Marr, Reanna Alexander, Kylie Alexander, Alexander Marr, Devin Marr and Mason Alexander; several special in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

FORT ANN –James Steven Yole, 69, of Baldwin Corners, passed away unexpectedly, on May 14, 2020, at his home.

Born June 28, 1950 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John E. and Marion H. (Benway) Yole.

Jim spent many years working as a union journeyman sprinklerfitter for the Local Sprinklerfitters Union 669. He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion Post 574 and a member of The American Legion Riders. He loved to ride his trike, which he was always polishing up and buying accessories for. Jim loved to go to casinos, and we will never understand how he had countless video poker apps on his phone but could never figure out how to Google. Jim could always be found on his stool, smoking his cigar, and looking up food recipes. He was a total foodie, like his daughter and granddaughter. The self-proclaimed inventor was always working on a hundred projects, most of which he never finished. Jim also loved going on cruises with his family, seeking out all the food places on the ships. He always looked forward to his Vintage Cars or Harley Davidson calendars he got at Christmas each year. Jim’s love for his cats Mollie, Mitzie, and Meeka was never ending, and he was always showing off pictures of his newest great grand dog, Kodiak. His family is determined to keep his memory alive and to never take anything for granted.

Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his sister Raydeen (Dee) Garvin.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Sandra Yole of Fort Ann, his daughter, Heidi Wilson (Lake George), his sons and daughters in law, David and Cheryl Yole (Arizona), Jimmy and Beth Yole (Fort Ann), and Jason Yole and Stephanie Schmidt (Arizona), his beloved grandchildren, Dylan Yole (Arizona), Andrew and Jamie Wilson (Louisiana), Mercedes and Mike Keeley (Granville), and Dan Yole (Fort Ann), and his two brothers in law, Jim Garvin (Queensbury) and Bob Ricciardelli (Fort Ann), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Richard F. Oliver, 70, of South Glens Falls passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Albany Medical Center following a long illness.

Rick was born on July 23, 1949 in Mason City, Iowa. He attended Queensbury High School with the class of 1969.

His family had a long tradition of military service and in 1969, Rick joined the Army. He served 2 tours in Vietnam with the 3/17 Air Calvary.

Upon discharge, Rick worked construction in Richmond, VA before returning to the area and working many years at General Electric. 

Rick was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Mary and Frank San Felice and a sister, Gloria Sheldon.

He is survived by his daughter Tara (Scott) Lee of Tempe, AZ.

Due to current circumstances, a memorial service will be held at a later time.

SARATOGA SPRINGS AND GLENS FALLS – Dorothy “Dottie” Cowles Rouillard, 91, formerly of East Avenue in Saratoga Springs and of Horicon Avenue in Glens Falls, lost her battle against Covid19 on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Fort Edward.

The daughter of the late Christine (Bolstetter) and Henry West Cowles, Dottie was born on June 16, 1928 in Glens Falls, New York, where she enjoyed a wonderful childhood and attended Glens Falls Schools.  She graduated from Colby Junior College in New London, New Hampshire.

Dottie dearly loved her family, friends and community. She was a member of The Flower & Fruit Mission of Saratoga Hospital and also delivered Meals on Wheels. She was deeply caring and compassionate while at the same time a fun-loving rascal, hence her nickname “Hot Dot, Red Hot Cowles.”

Dottie was an avid pianist (who enjoyed harmonizing with her husband Paul), swimmer, bowler, tennis player and golfer and enjoyed many happy occasions at both the Saratoga Golf & Polo Club and the Glens Falls Country Club. She also loved to dance and kiddingly referred to Saturday as “tight shoe night.” She had a terrific sense of humor.

Dottie’s passionate love of Lake George lasted her entire lifetime. When she and the love of her life Paul met and married, he introduced her to beautiful Drakes Island in Maine which quickly became their “second home” where countless happy years with family and friends were treasured. Dottie was a gem.

 In addition to her parents, Dottie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Richardson Rouillard and her beloved brothers, David and Donald Cowles.

Survivors include her daughters, Susie Rouillard and her partner John Gallup of Fort Edward, Joanie Rouillard of Braintree, VT, and Wendy Clarke of Pilot Knob; her grandchildren, Katie Vinton and her husband, Anthony of Braintree, VT, John Clarke of Glens Falls, and Chrissy Clarke of Tampa, FL; her great-grandchildren, Leah Allura and Brendan Paul Vinton, both of Braintree, VT; and several nieces and nephews.

Dottie will be remembered adoringly, dearly missed by her family and friends alike.  A private celebration of Dottie’s life will be held at the Glens Falls Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia M. Mills announce her passing on Sunday, May 10^th, 2020, at Fort Hudson Nursing Center after a courageous battle with Covid-19.

Born on June 6, 1934 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Rose (Pitaniello) Russo.

Virginia was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls and loved to tell stories of her childhood memories and schoolgirl antics.

On June 10^th, 1956, Virginia married the love of her life, David O. Mills.  They enjoyed 41 years of marriage before his passing and were rarely seen without one another.  Together they raised their five children, enjoying their five children, enjoying annual summer vacations in Maine and New Hampshire, going all out for holidays and proudly watching their family grow through the years.

Virginia was loved by all who met her, easily making new friends wherever she went.  Her greatest joy was being with her family. No matter her age, she always remained young at heart and could often be found playing Nintendo and drinking orange soda with her grandkids.  She loved thinking she was being sneaky slipping money into their hands.  She also enjoyed reading, watching game shows and listening to her favorite singer, Kenny Rogers.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband, David O. Mills, Sr., Her grandson, Jeffrey D. Morrison, II, her sisters, Josephine Farenell, Lena Ricciardelli, Cecelia D’Angelo, Madeline Hogan and Irene Russo and her brothers, Louis, Valentino, Nicholas, Patrick and Dominick Russo.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, David O. Mills, Jr. and his wife, Anne of Glens Falls; her four daughters, Cynthia Dickinson and her husband, Jay of Lake Luzerne, Dr. Margaret Centurioni and Peter Sawyer of Burnt Hills, Laurie Tremblay and her husband, Matthew of Tennessee and Julianne Carpenter and her husband, Scott of South Glens Falls; her 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and her friend since childhood, Mary Naylor “Friends Forever”.

Virginia’s family would like to express their profound gratitude to the nurses and staff at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for their dedication, compassion and commitment to their residents in these challenging and uncertain times. Thanks to Carol Jean and Tina, her nurses on S wing and Lynn Thompson, a dear family friend who cared for mom for several years. Also, special thanks to Jennifer Keeley and Mary French who loved mom when we couldn’t be with her, Ashley for holding her hand for us and Dr. John Quaresima for going out of his way to reassure us and provide compassionate care for mom.

The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls, at the convenience of the family.
