Roscoe N. “Rocky” Harrington

HarringtonHUDSON FALLS – Roscoe N. “Rocky” Harrington, 79, a longtime Hudson Falls resident, went into the arms of the Lord, on Monday, October 5, 2015, at Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Granville.

Born February 23, 1936, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Roscoe E. and Doris (LaPlace) Harrington.

Roscoe was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.   He worked as a foreman for Native Textiles in Glens Falls. In his younger years, he was a garage mechanic at the Texaco Station on Sherman Avenue.

He enjoyed talking to many people through Ham and CB radio.  Roscoe also enjoyed going shopping and going out to eat.  He was a member of the Adirondack Armature Radio Club.  Rocky was also a member of the Fort Edward/Hudson Falls 60 Plus Senior Citizens.

Besides his parents, Roscoe was predeceased by his nephews, Thomas J. McIntosh and James Rozzele.

Survivors include his four sisters, Barbara M. Hall and her husband, Ronald B. of South Glens Falls, Doris J. McIntosh and her companion, Carl Aldous of Gansevoort, Patricia Lee Harrington and her companion, Thomas Prouty of Newcomb and Elsie Doloph of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 11 to 1 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will follow calling hours at 1 p.m., at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Bernard “Bernie” McCullough

HUDSON FALLS – Bernard “Bernie” McCullough, 84, formerly of Kelly Avenue and most recently of the Oaks, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015.

Born May 23, 1931 in Burlington VT, he was the son of the late Harold and Irma (Larrow) McCullough.

He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

On February 24, 1952, he married Rosemary Cavanaugh in St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Mr. McCullough was a carpenter millwright with Local 229 and worked with various contractors and MLB in Latham.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his four sisters, Leah Waite, Elizabeth Jarvis, Uta Depew and Romona Bartholomew, died before him.

Survivors besides his wife of 63  years, Rosemary McCullough of Hudson Falls, include two sons, Patrick McCullough, DDS and his wife, Paula, of Queensbury and Steven McCullough and his wife, Margaret, of Gansevoort; one daughter, Colleen Mahar and her husband, Thomas, of Glens Falls; two sisters, Anna St. Jacques of Plattsburg and Phyllis Russell and her husband, Peter, of Fort Edward; six grandchildren, Shamus McCullough, Carly McCullough, DDS, Erin McCullough, Kevin McCullough, Katie Mahar and Kristopher Mahar; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

Graveside services with full military honors, will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday,  at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12828 or the Cornerstone Soup Kitchen, 293 1/2 Main St, Hudson Falls NY12839.

Martin J. Larrow

LarrowHUDSON FALLS – Martin J. Larrow, 90, of Maynard Street and most recently of the Oaks in Fort Edward, passed away, peacefully at his son David and his companion Cathy’s home, on, Sunday, October 4, 2015, with his family by his side.

Born on November 1, 1924 in Proctor, Vermont, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Carr) Larrow.

Martin joined the Navy and served his country during World War II, as a machine gunner on a “Liberty Ship”.   Martin traveled completely around the world and in every theatre of the war.

When he returned from the war, Martin began working at Griffin Lumber Company as a truck driver.  He then joined the carpenter’s union and was employed by many construction companies, all over the United States.  Martin became a supervisor for several large companies, such as Brown & Root, retiring in 1993.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his four brothers, Charles, Donald, Richard and Joseph Larrow, his sisters, Jane Thayer-Seymore and Beatrice Rayno.

Survivors include his seven children, Theresa Wood and her husband, James, David Larrow and his companion, Cathy Leahmann, Barbara Birch and her husband, Dwayne, Jeffrey Larrow and his wife, Jan, Jerry Larrow and his wife, Nancy, Janet Brayman and Marie McKinney and her husband, Paul; several  grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandson; his brother, Ken Larrow; his sister, Mage Kokenberg; his brother in law, David Rayno; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours and funeral.

Martin’s family would like to thank the many friends he had at the Oaks for their kindness and friendship for the past several years of his life.

Sylvia M. Zerblus

HUDSON FALLS – Sylvia M. Zerblus, 95, a long time resident of Hudson Falls, most recently of Westmount Health Care Facility in Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Westmount Health Care Facility, surrounded by her devoted friend, Dorothy Michon and Tom and Joann Cummings.

Born January 1, 1920 in Montreal, Canada of French Canadian parents, she came to the United States as a young child and as her father was naturalized, she became a U. S. citizen.

Sylvia lived for awhile in California before moving with her parents to Hudson Falls.  She was employed for a few years at General Electric in Fort Edward as a millworker.

Until 2013, when Sylvia went to Westmount Health Care Facility, she had lived alone.  A cousin, Alfred, who lives near the Canadian border, survives.

Her true supporter and champion for over two decades was the late Richard Michon of Hudson Falls.   All of Sylvia’s affairs and needs were handles by Richard with loyalty and true devotion.  He and Sylvia had such a close bond that all could see and appreciate.

A very special “thank you” is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff at Westmount Health Care Facility for the compassionate care and love given to Sylvia during her time there.

There will be no calling hours per Sylvia’s request.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

Mary C. (Bacon) Benson

HUDSON FALLS – Mary C. (Bacon) Benson passed away peacefully with her family by her side at home and went into the arms of the Lord on September 26, 2015. She was 87.

Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always put her family first.   She will be remembered most for her unselfishness, her kind heart, her never ending smile and the endless love for her family.  She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.   Mom, Gram, Narnie, Sister, was one of a kind.

Upon her request, there will be no services.

Joan K. Dickinson Clemons

ClemonsPUTNUM STATION – Joan K. Dickinson Clemons, 71, of Putnam Station, went into the arms of the Lord, on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Haynes House of Hope in Granville.

Born on January 27, 1944, in Moreau, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (LaFoy) Dickinson.

Joan was a graduate of St. Margaret’s Nursing College.

On October 29, 1988, she married Earl R. Clemons, Jr. in Fort Ann. In total, Joan and Earl have been together for 37 years.

For over 20 years, she worked at Hallmark Nursing Center in Glens Falls and for many years, Joan worked with the handicapped and elderly at WWARC,  ARC and at the Station.

She volunteered her time at the Thrift Shop in Crown Point and was a firefighter 23 years and auxiliary member of the Putnam Volunteer Fire Company.  Joan was the first woman in the Fire Advisory Board in Washington County.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother, Wallace “Skip” Dickinson and her foster parents, Elizabeth and James Mitchel.

Survivors include her husband, Earl R. Clemons, Jr. of Putnam Station; her children, Cheryl Roy and her husband, Carl of Glens Falls, Kevin Jordan and his wife, Kate of Milton, William Jordan of Glens Falls, Charles L. Jordan and James Jordan, both of Fort Edward, Mary McCoy of Queensbury; her step children, Kyle Clemons and his companion, Angela of Dresden, Thomas Clemons and his wife, Krissy of Whitehall and Darren Clemons of Glens Falls; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Myron “Mike” Dickinson and his wife, Maxine of Hudson Falls and Harriet Humanson of Hudson Falls; her foster brothers, Dickey Mitchel and Dave Mitchel and his wife, Barbara; her mother in law, Trudy Dixon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special special companion, her dog, Little Buddy.

Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Olai J. Borlang, Jr,

borlangHUDSON FALLS – Olai J. Borlang, Jr, 88, of Burgoyne Avenue, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Fort Hudson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Edward, following a long illness.

Born on August 30, 1927 in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Olai J. and Birdsell (Carter) Borlang, Sr.

Before graduating from Whitehall Central School, Olai entered the United States Navy.  He was very proud to have served his country during World War II, on the USS Tolman.  During his first tour, on Christmas Eve, Olai had the opportunity to visit Nagasaki, Japan, to see the devastation after the atomic bomb.    The family has a picture of him standing next to the Urakim Cathedral in Nagasaki.   Following his first tour of duty in the Navy, Olai then returned to Whitehall High School and received his diploma.   Upon graduation, he was called to a second tour of duty, where he served in the Korean Conflict.  During this time, Olai was proud to have crossed the international dateline. 

He was a talented cabinet maker and for several years, he did carpentry for General Electric in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward.  Olai was a member of the Carpenter’s Union.

On September 27, 1974, he married Addie (Warren) Bailey.  They have been married for 41 wonderful years.

Olai took his retirement seriously, by watching TV and fishing.  Every summer and weekends for much of the year he spent his time fishing at his camp on Green Pond.  Olai loved having his family and friends at “The Pond”.   Every September while the family was apple picking, Olai would be at the camp making chili and waiting for everyone to come back to eat and make apple pies.    

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters, Corrine, Beatrice and June.

Survivors include his wife, Addie Borlang of Hudson Falls; his three children, Nancy Greenwood and her husband, Walter of Glens Falls, John Borlang and his companion, Janet Rabideau of Hudson Falls and Jan Sherlock and her husband, Mark of Queensbury; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors provided by American Legion Post 574 of Hudson Falls, will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Louis Charles Wagner

WagnerDURKEETOWN – Louis Charles Wagner, II, 73, of Durkeetown in Argyle, passed away peacefully  on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness,

Born on June 20, 1942, in Troy, he was the son of the late Louis C. and Ruth (Littlejohn) Wagner.

Louis graduated  from Tamarac Central School in 1962.  He then proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  After returning from the service, he graduated from Albany Business College in 1968.  He later earned a B.A. degree in Business Administration and Economics from Empire State College.

On August 10, 1968, he married Jean Gleason in Manchester, VT.  They met while at Albany Business College.

Louis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls for many years.  He was a life-long fan of the New York Giants football team, enjoyed spending time with his family and loved doting on his grandchildren.

Over the years he worked for Ames Chemical, Inc. and Kamyr, Inc., and in 2006, he retired from Finch Pruyn and Co., Inc.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Leona Fields and Johanne  Bashford.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 47 years, Jean (Gleason) Wagner of Durkeetown; his children, Luke Wagner and his wife, Jessica , Lori Wagner-Prindle and her husband, Peter and Jennifer Wagner; his grandchildren, Ashley Wagner, Patrick and Michael Wagner and Nora and Grace Prindle.  He is also survived by  a brother, John Wagner and his wife, Mary; a sister, Rene Folmsbee and her husband, Paul; a brother in law, Alfred Fields, all of Troy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 P.M. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 5 P.M Wednesday September 23, 2015, at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert McCrory, pastor of the Hudson Falls First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be privately held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Howard W. “Ozzie” Osborne

Osborne, howardHUDSON FALLS – Howard W. “Ozzie” Osborne, 90, formerly of Parry St., passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015, at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation in Gloversville.

Born on August 3, 1925, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Howard Osborne and Norma “Humeo” Wells.

Ozzie graduated from Whitehall High School and served with the US Navy during World War II.  During his service time, he was a boxer for the Sixth Fleet, fighting in over 80 bouts.

Ozzie  married Eleanor Lyon and they had many wonderful years together until her passing in 1985.

He was a manager for Commercial Credit Corporation for 22 years and after his retirement, he was a realtor for Realty USA.

During the 1940’s Ozzie played football for the Hudson Falls Greenjackets.  He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2001.

Ozzie loved to play cards.  Every friday night he hosted at poker game at his home.  Ozzie also enjoyed playing cribbage and took great pride in teaching his grandchildren.  He also liked to deer hunt at the farm in Belcher and in later years at the camp in Salem with his son Stanley, his father in law, Harold Lyon, his brothers in law and his good friend, Charlie Villamagna.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ozzie is predeceased by two sons, Stanley Osborne and Stephen Osborne.

Survivors include a daughter in law, Linda Chase Osborne of Ticonderoga; his grandchildren, Kimberly Osborne-Allen and her husband, Todd, of Albany and Stanley Adam Osborne of Plattsburgh; a sister in law, Gwendolyn Cicotte; his brothers in law, Edward Lyon and Ronald Lyon and his wife, Wendy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In his later years, he was taken care of by his son, Stephen, Roy Gorton and his good friend, Betty Chapman.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hour at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal, will follow the funeral at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward,  with full military honors provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion Color Guard, Post 574 and the Patriot Guard Riders.

Kim E. Brunnelle

BrunelleFORT EDWARD – Kim E. Brunelle, 58, of Griffin Ave, passed away unexpectedly on route to the Glens Falls Hospital on Saturday, September 12, 2015.

Born on August 2, 1958, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the Donald  Taft and the late Joan (Beasaw) Taft.

Kim attended Glens Falls High School and worked at various jobs throughout the area.  One of her favorites was being a home health aide, where Kim enjoyed meeting people and taking care of her patients.

In October of 1987, she married Alfred Brunelle.  They have been married 28 wonderful years.

Kim enjoyed going to garage sales , knitting and quilting for her family.  She loved her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.

In addition to her loving mother, Joan Taft, she was predeceased by her son, Jeremie, her favorite aunt and uncle, Sharon and Ernie Germain, her sister, Joanne Rawlins and her nephew, Steven Taft .

She is survived by her husband, Alfred Brunelle of Fort Edward; her children, Marcel Rawlins and his wife, Amie of Hudson Falls and Justin Rawlins of Glens Falls; her step daughter, Sarah Brunelle; her grandchildren, Demetrick Rawlins, Averie Rawlins, Danica Rawlins and Camden Rawlins; her brothers, Greg Taft and his wife, Theresa of Georgia, Michael Taft and his wife, Sarah of Georgia and Kevin Taft of Albany; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at the South Argyle Cemetery.

Robert C. “Bob” Havens

havens robertKINGSBURY – Robert C. “Bob” Havens, 54,  of Kingsbury, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born September 15, 1960, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Raymond L. Havens and the late Jean M. (Mullen) Havens.

Bob was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and on July 28, 1979, he married Nancy Bankowski in Hudson Falls.  Together they have shared 36 wonderful years.

He was a carpenter by trade for many years.

Bob loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing in the Adirondacks.  He  was a wonderful cook who loved to feed his family.  Bob made friends so easily and had too many to number.  He was a jovial man and also was a private person.  Bob loved a cold Heineken and his OTB account.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his sister, Heidi Havens.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Havens of Kingsbury; his two children, Sarah Raymond and her husband, Daniel of Selkirk and Joshuah Havens and his wife, Crystal of Glens Falls; his three grandchildren, Mallory and Masey Raymond and Travis Havens; his brother and sisters, Raeann Willis and her husband, Rick of Hartford, Mearl Havens of Hudson Falls, Donmarie Pasco and her husband, Raymond of Fort Edward; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many aunts and uncles.

In celebration of Bob’s life, there will be a biker/vehicle benefit on September 26, 2015, starting at 11 am, at the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574, on Pearl Street and end at Saluto’s, with a pig roast.  Vehicle registration starts at 9:30 am at the legion on Sept. 26.
