Barbara A. Pincheon Ure Chadwick

ChadwickHUDSON FALLS – Barbara A. Pincheon Ure Chadwick, 80, of Delaware Ave, passed away at her home, Monday, March 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 31, 1935, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Charlotte (Kinney) Pincheon.

Barb was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On September 28, 1973, she married David Chadwick. He passed away in 2005.

Barb served as a matron for the Hudson Falls Police Department and as a crossing guard at Oak and Maple Street. She also was an Avon representative.

Barb was the proud owner of a beautiful 1935 Ford custom pickup truck and a member of the ACE Car Club. She loved animals, enjoyed playing pool, watching NASCAR, traveling, country music, snowmobiling, going hunting and fishing, arts and crafts, ceramics, painting and most of all, spending time with her family.  Barb loved big family gatherings and was the matriarch of her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Barb was predeceased by her son in law, Jack Diamond.

Survivors include her children, Jim Ure and his wife, June of Hudson Falls, Debbie Diamond of South Glens Falls, Dave Ure and his loving companion, Marybeth of Fort Edward, Dan Ure and his wife, Robin of Hudson Falls, Dru Ure and his wife, Joelyn of Glens Falls; her stepchildren, Patti Gile of Schenectady, Janette Daury of Virginia, Carol Foote and her husband, Dan of Queensbury, David Chadwick, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Georgia, Theresa Burch of Glens Falls, Barbara Davis of Ohio; many grandchildren and several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her sister Sandy Priest of Hudson Falls; her sister in law, Sharon Fares of Glens Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her first husband, with whom she had 5 children, Leon Ure, of the town of Moreau.

Friends may call on Friday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

Words of remembrance will be offered, following the calling hours, at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

John Herbert Ingraham

IngrahamHUDSON FALLS – John Herbert Ingraham, Locust St., Hudson Falls, passed away, March 5, 2016, after a short illness.

Born on September, 26, 1926 at 22 North St., Hudson Falls. He was the son of Herbert Leo and Susan Ella (Baker) Ingraham.

John married the love of his life, Bertha Marie Lewis (Daughter of George Henry and Gertrude Mae (Beaudoin) Lewis, on March 23, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls and were married for 69 years (18 Days short of 70 Years).

John was employed formerly by the Hudson Falls Paper Co.  He then served in the Armed Services from 1945 to 1947. In July 1958 John was employed by the Purdue Frederick Pharmaceutical Co., in Norwalk, CT. (Formerly known as the G.F. Harvey Co. in Saratoga Springs) as a Supervisor of Tabulating and then advanced to Data Processing Manager and Retired July 1, 1982, at the age of 55, but remained as a consultant for many years.

John’s favorite pastimes involved outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, hiking and horseshoes, along with family gatherings for a heaping patter of freshly fried fish and several tall hot stacks of cottage cheese pancakes and a good game of Pinochle.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert L. and Susan Ingraham and his siblings, Ruth LaPoint, Carl Gertrude Rayno, Doris Pincheon and Kenneth.

Survivors include, his wife of 69 years, Bertha M. Ingraham; his children, Jack Robert, Gerald, Jane Barsukoff, Diane Cabral and Katherine Jones; his 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Daphne C. Kestner

KestnerSOUTH GLENS FALLS – Daphne C. Kestner, 93 , of West Road, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016, with her loving family by her side.

Born on August 14, 1922 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Beatrice (Sisson) Chandler.

Daphne graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1942.

On May 25, 1944, she married Francis Kestner in Glens Falls.

She enjoyed collecting miniature gazebos and angels. She was an avid New York Yankee’s armchair fan and most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis Kestner, three brothers, George Chandler, Raymond LaRose and Kenneth LaRose and her sister, Bernice Sennett.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Jensen and her husband, Peter of South Glens Falls; her son, Terry Kestner and his wife, Cathy of Hudson Falls; four grandchildren, Michael Kestner and his wife, Patti, Matthew Kestner,  Hans Jensen, and Heidi Olsen and her husband, Justin; a great grandson, Patrick Kestner; three great granddaughters, Ella, Lily and Alexa Olson; a step-great granddaughter, Kirstie Fidler; a sister in law, Veronica LaRose; a cousin, Medrick Chandler and several nieces and nephews.

No calling hours are scheduled.

Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in the Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

The Jensen family will open their home at  West Road in South Glens Falls on Monday from 4:30 – 7 p.m. to celebrate Daphne’s life.  All are welcome.

Her family suggests that memorial donations be made to the South High Marathon Dance, c/o 42 Merritt Road, South Glens Falls, NY, 12803 or the charity of one’s choice.

SOUTH GLENS FALL S – Joan Marie Macey, 77, of Ella Drive, passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family March 1, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born August 11, 1938 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Veronica Varley.

Joan was a 1956 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and in 1962, she married Robert F. Macey, Jr., in Hudson Falls.

Joan was employed with General Electric for over 43 years.  She worked in various areas at General Electric during her employment.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church until recently when she moved to South Glens Falls and attended St. Michael’s Church.     Joan enjoyed having her family over to spend time at the pool and playing cards.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and could always be found taking care of her family, especially if they were ill.  Joan was a homebody and whose family and grandchildren were the center of her life.  She was known for her giving, loving, selfless personality with an amazing ability to make her family and friends feel important and loved.

Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Hamelin.

Survivors include her loving husband, Robert F. Macey, Jr. of South Glens Falls; her children, Patrick Macey and his wife, Kristy of Queensbury, Michele Leonka and her husband, Christopher of Queensbury, Nancy Kearney and her husband, Jim of South Glens Falls; her six grandchildren, Brendan Leonka and his fiancée, Katie Spoerl of Glens Falls, Jared Macey and his fiancée, Marissa Carpenter of South Glens Falls, Brittany Leonka and her fiancé, Alex Nikas of Warrensburg, Derek Macey and his girlfriend, Alexa Savoia of Hudson Falls, Aidan Kearney and Kelan Kearney, both of South Glens Falls; her sister, Jackie Higgins of Hudson Falls; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue in South Glens Falls with the Reverend Tony Childs, pastor, officiating.

Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Following the graveside service, all are welcome to a gathering at the Elks Lodge, 32 Cronin Rd., in the town of Queensbury.

Louise K. Sexton

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Louise K, Sexton, 95, a longtime resident of Saratoga Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Pines Healthcare Facility in Glens Falls.

Born on June 25, 1920 in Quitman, GA, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Luana (Zeigler) Knight.

She graduated from Miami Edison High School in Miami, FL and earned her degree in education from the University of Miami in FL.

In 1943, she married Hollis Sexton. He passed away in 2006.

For 25 years, Mrs. Sexton was a teacher in Miami, FL.  Upon returning to this area, she taught in Whitehall Central School District until her retirement. She then worked for Weight Watchers, retiring from there as a field supervisor.  She was very proud to have volunteered for many years for Literacy Volunteers.

Mrs. Sexton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Knight.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Sexton of Hudson Falls; three grandchildren, Melissa Lear of Hudson Falls, Melinda Paradis of Glens Falls, and Jerel Lear, Sr. of Vermont; five great grandchildren, Rachel Paradis, Timothy Paradis, Kate Paradis, Shelby Lear and Jerel Lear Jr.; one great-great-grandson, Austin Muzikar; one great-great-granddaughter, Dahlia Berkhemer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no services.

Born on June 30, 1954 in Plattsburg, she was the daughter of the late Alexis and Mildred (Benjamin) Seymour.

In 1971, she married Dominick “Butch” Simione, Jr.

Shelley retired from Capital District DDSO due to her illness.

She enjoyed playing cards and most importantly spending time with her family.

Besides her parents, Shelley was predeceased by her three brothers, John, Anthony and Roderick Seymour a  sister, Simone Colby and a brother in law, Tom Kirk.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Dominick “Butch” Simione, Jr. of Glens Falls; two sons, Dominick Simione, III and his wife, Melissa of Gouverneur and Darrick Simione and his wife, Mimi of South Glens Falls; six grandchildren, Nikolaus Simione, Justin Simione, Colten Simione, Gunner Simione, Madison Simione and Drake Simione; sisters, Doreen McKinney and her husband, Clem of Lake Luzerne, Jeannette Kirk of Niagara Falls, Veronica Vann and her husband, Ron of Saranac, Mary Rouse and her husband, Harry of Glens Falls; her uncle, Keith Seymour and aunt Cheryl Seymour; sisters in law, Dottie Seymour Bowen, Lynn Palmer, Annie Harvey and her husband, Keith, Rosemary Flaska, Sandy Hugling, Christine Monroe and her husband, Greg, Ceceilia Magers and her husband, Mike and Patricia Simione; brothers in law, Chris Simione, James Simione and his wife, Diane, Paul Simione and Frank Simione; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Laterell, MarkHUDSON FALLS – Mark Latterell, 55, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully to be with his brother, Lee, on March 2, 2016 at 6:20 a.m., after a short battle with colon cancer.   He was surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final days.

Mark worked several years for F.W. Webb as a driver and warehouse worker.

He was an extravagant bowler for many years, with which many memories were made with great friends.   He mostly loved spending time with his children, Danielle and Tyler Latterell and his nephew, Douglas Johnson.   He also loved passing time playing golf with Matt, Danielle’s significant other.

Mark leaves behind his mom and dad, Jessie and Sylvia (Arquette)  Latterell of Fort Edward; his daughter, Danielle Latterell; his son, Tyler Latterell; his brothers, Albert Latterell and his wife, Suzanne and Chris Latterell; his sister, Sheri Johnson; his ex-wife, JoAnn Williams-Snowball; four nephews, Dan, Tim and Scott Latterell and Douglas Johnson; five nieces, Gina, Kamara and Alara Latterell and Ashlie and Meagan Johnson; as well as a special great niece, Haylee Stevens; and also many great friends, who have a special place in his heart, especially, John Armstrong, Craig Morris and Amy Varney and their daughter, Rhianna, whom he had a special bond.

Keith Kenneth Knowlton

KnowltonARGYLE –  Keith Kenneth Knowlton, 60, of Washington Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, went into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 3, 1955, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Madora Knowlton and the late Kenneth Knowlton.

Keith was a graduate of Glens Falls High School and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was very proud to have the honor of serving his country.  Following his military service, Keith began his career as a chef.  Over his career, he worked for several area establishments.

Keith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Queensbury.

He loved to play chess and could beat just about anyone who challenged him.  Keith was very artistic.  He left behind a legacy of many beautiful pictures and drawings.  Keith was also an animal lover and always enjoyed a good meal.

He is survived by his wife, Teena Knowlton of Hudson Falls; his mother, Madora Knowlton of Corinth; his siblings, Debbie Knowlton Byrd of Corinth, Jacqueline Pelkey of Hudson Falls and Joseph Knowlton and his wife, Michelle of Corinth; his nieces, Michelle Rosinski, Melinda Pelkey and Jennifer Jester; his nephews, Jeremy Knowlton, Casey Knowlton, Chad Knowlton and Daniel Byrd; and several cousins.

Christopher Murray Altizio

AltizioHUDSON FALLS – Christopher Murray Altizio of Burgoyne Avenue, passed away at his home, on Thursday, February 25th 2016. He was 57.

Chris was born on November 26, 1958, in Glens Falls to the late Murray “Marty” Altizio and Marianne Healey.

Chris attended St. Mary’s school as a child and later Queensbury High School. He was a proud Queensbury High School wrestler under Coach Jack Labombard. Chris was also a proud American and after high school he joined the U.S Army in 1976, becoming a Combat Medic for the 82nd Airborne. After an honorable discharge he returned home and later joined the U.S Army Reserves.

Chris married his best friend and the love of his life Jennie Lee Kelley in 1985 and together had their first child, a son, Anthony Michael in 1987 and their second child, a daughter, Nicole Michelle in 1989.

Chris worked at Webb Graphics, Adirondack Highway Department and most recently Irving Tissue in Fort Edward.

He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed reading, fishing, darts, softball, playing poker with friends and family and watching the New York Mets.

In addition to his parents, Chris is pre-deceased by his brother, Michael John Altizio of Glens Falls.

He is survived by his wife Jennie Kelley; his son, Anthony; his daughter, Nicole; and his granddaughter Emma Lee John; his brothers, Jon and Marty Altizio and Sidney and Daniel McDonald; also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Chris will be remembered by those who knew him as a proud American patriot, a hard worker, an outstanding husband, father, brother, friend and most of all grandfather to his pride and joy Emma Lee John.

A public mass will be held in his honor at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, on March 20, 2016, at 8:00 am and a day of remembrance will be announced by his family in the coming days.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Chris’ name to the Make a Wish Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Kathryn A. “Kate” Bennett

Bennett, KathrynWILTON – Kathryn A. “Kate” (Kibling) Bennett, 74, of Wilton, passed away on Thursday Feb. 18, 2016, at Saratoga Hospital.

Born October 17, 1941 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Bessie (Andrus) Kibling.

Kathryn was a graduate of Poultney High School in Vermont.

On August 19, 1962, she married Herbert J. Bennett at the Methodist Church in Granville.

Kathryn worked for the Van Raalte Insurance in Saratoga and also Price Chopper Markets. After her retirement, she enjoyed watching children.

She was a founding member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilton and taught Sunday school for 37 years. Kathryn sang in the choir for almost 50 years, was a youth leader, a member of the women’s group and served on the church council. She was extremely proud of her work to raise money to send children to camp.  Kathryn was President of the Wilton Heritage Society, active in the Grange and Daughters of the American Revolution but most of all, she enjoyed family and friends.  She is most remembered for her love of life and her ability to remain active despite her disabilities.

Besides her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by sisters, Pat Renaud, Elizabeth “Betty” Matt, Virginia Croff, Charlotte Smith, her brothers, Donald Kibling, Charles Kibling, and George Kibling.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Herbert Bennett of Wilton; her children, Kevin S. Bennett of Wilton, Kimberly A. Bennett-Schwardt and her husband, Kevin of Ballston Spa and Karen B. Luedtke and her husband, Benjamin of Freeport, IL; her grandchildren, Scott Gelina, Megan Birch, Grace Luedtke and Caleb Luedtke; her great grandchildren, Joshua James Birch and Benjamin Birch; her sister, Ruth Lorette and her companion, Ron of Wilton; her brothers Robert Kibling and his wife, Rita of the state of Washington and Ralph Kibling of Hudson Falls; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved grandpuppy, Tigger.

Friends may call Sunday, February 28, 2016, From 2 to 4 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilton, 155 Ballard RD in Wilton.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 (following the calling hours) at the church with the Rev. Keith Mann, pastor, officiating.

Carl Leroy (Johnny) Wyer

WyerFORT EDWARD – Carl Leroy (Johnny) Wyer, 86 most recently a resident of the Fort Hudson Nursing Center in Fort Edward, passed away on February 18th 2016.

Born August 1, 1929, in Keyser West Virginia. He was the son of Ivan S. Wyer and Virgie L. Sutton Wyer.

After graduating from Fort Ashby High School, Carl married Roxena Marie Dawson of Keyser WV and moved to East Liverpool Ohio where they raised their family. Carl worked as a coil inspector at the Crucible Steel Mill in Midland Pennsylvania, retiring after 31 years of employment. He later worked part time in security for US Airways in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Some of Carl’s enjoyments included camping, hunting, sports, traveling and especially reminiscing about his life growing up on the family farm in the mountains of West Virginia. He also loved singing hymns and spending time with his family.

Carl was predeceased in death by his first wife, Roxena Marie Dawson with whom he had three children. He was also predeceased in death by his second wife Dorothy (Carrie) Draper and his step-daughter Dawn Rene Radovich.

Survivors include his three children, Ivan (Dorothy) Wyer of East Liverpool, Ohio. Wilda Craven of Acworth, Georgia. Hilda (Tim) Olesky of Queensbury, New York and his two grandchildren Marc (Sheila) Olesky of Glens Falls, New York and Ashley Olesky of Boynton Beach, Florida.

He also leaves behind a brother Don (Martha) Wyer and a sister Wilda (James) Kesner of Keyser, West Virginia and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call on a date to be determined at the Smith Funeral Home at 85 South Main Street, Keyser, West Virginia.

Burial will follow at the Wyer Family Cemetery on Knobley Road.

John Marine, Jr.

Marine Trumpet MarineQUEENSBURY – John Marine, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, following a lengthy illness, with his daughters by his side.

John was born in Fort Edward on August 19, 1922, the son of the late John and Joanna (Bonitatibus) Marine.

He worked from the age of nine and into his teens at Smith’s Bakery in Fort Edward, making the locally renowned Smith’s finger rolls.

A talented young trumpet player, John was accepted at the Julliard School of Music at the age of 16, however, family responsibilities prevented him from attending.

He graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1939.

John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.  His first assignment was as a military recruitment officer in Washington, DC and in Detroit where he signed the first women recruits to serve in the Marine Corps during the war.  During the last two years of his service, he was stationed in Belfast and London.

He was a proud member of the American Auto Workers Union and Steelworkers Union and in the 1960’s and 70’s he was elected business agent and the President of the American Federation of Musicians AFL-CIO, Local #129, covering the upstate New York.

Following retirement from Ciba Geigy, John resumed his musical career full time with his own dance band, The Staff Members, performing at countless weddings and special events in the area.

John will always be missed and remembered for his great sense of humor, the wonderful meals he prepared for his family and as a loving father and self-proclaimed “Luckiest Grandpa in the world”.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marjorie (Loiselle) Marine.

He is survived by his daughters, Anne Marine and Judi Marine (David Wilsey); his sister, Mrs. Jean Koehler; his grandchildren, James Powhida, John Powhida (Chen) and Molly Sample (Anna); his great granddaughter, Ray Anne Powhida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A private burial will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
