Mary R. Corlew

HUDSON FALLS – Mary R. Corlew, 84, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Glens Falls Hospital, with her loving daughters by her side. 

Born December 17, 1938, at the family home on LaBarge St., in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Doris (Constantineau) LaFountain.

Mary was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

For many years, Mary worked for Continental Insurance Company and then for Warren/Washington ARC, as a health aide.

Mary enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  She was generous and loved to gift her creations, including socks, hats and mittens, to family, friends or anyone in need.    Mary would often talk about her trips to California, Tennessee, DC, and Maine.  Every trip she made was memorable.   Faith and family were the centerfold of Mary’s life.  As the matriarch of the family, she hosted many Christmases.  Mary loved big with a generous heart. 

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her children, Mark and Jeffrey Corlew; her sister, Theresa White; her brothers, William and Richard LaFountain and her former spouse, Eugene R. Corlew.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie (Timothy) Seelye and Laura (Keith) Brunelle; her grandchildren, Ben (Jenn), Eric (Jen), Mylissa (Adam), David, Adam, Kristopher (Kealy), Kara and Hope; her 8 great grandchildren; her very special daughter in law, Karen Corlew, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call, Friday, November 3, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours on Friday, at 5 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mary’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Center, especially nurses Theresa and Heidi, for their extraordinary care and compassion.

    I will miss my dear friend. I’m sorry I didn’t see this until today and missed her service. I’m sure it was as beautiful as her soul. She will be greatly missed and deeply loved always. Her beautiful family gained a new guardian angel and I’m sure she was welcomed with open arms by all of her friends and her boys. Love you, Mary.
