Mark J. Moulton

Queensbury NY — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Mark J. Moulton.  He left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a short, but very courageous battle with cancer on March 20, 2025.

Mark was born on June 9, 1962 to John and Nancy (LeRoux) Moulton at Samaritan Hospital in Troy NY.  Mark graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1980 and went on to attend Daemen University in Amherst NY.  Shortly after, Mark joined the United States Army proudly serving his country.

Mark was immensely proud to be a Tiger, excelling in several sports such as soccer and baseball.   However, he had a deep love for wrestling, attending many tournaments with his daughter through the years.  To this day, Mark is still well known in his Hudson Falls community, and has remained close to many classmates. Especially his long time best friends, Donny LeBarron and Mike Havens, with whom he considered brothers.

Mark was also a very active and devoted member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.  He served as an Officer and Trustee for many years. Mark considered the Elks as an extension of his own family.  In what would have been his 30th year, the bonds and camaraderie he formed with his fellow Elks brought him great happiness.  In addition to participating in many communal events, he spent countless hours shopping for local children for the Elks Annual Kids Christmas party, an event close to his heart.

Mark was an avid fan of Notre Dame football, NY Yankees, and Syracuse basketball and endured years of hackling for being a Cowboys fan, but stayed loyal to them until the end.

Along with his love of sports, he loved the outdoors.  Whether he was on a boat on Lake George or up at camp on Schroon River, with his beloved Aunt Josie, Mark was in his element by the water.  Always one to be manning the grill, his famous steaks and ribs will be missed.  Mark also spent many summers at Salisbury Beach with his beloved cousins Helen and Bruce Hidley, and many close friends.  Summers will never been the same without him.  We will all miss seeing him in his visors and famous tie dye outfits.

In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his daughter Erica Moulton and granddaughter Ava Moulton-Altarac, both of Queensbury.  As the middle child of five, he is also survived by his brother Kevin Moulton and his wife Tracey of South Glens Falls, sister Beth Single and her husband Stephen of Kattskill Bay, brother David Moulton and his wife Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton of Saratoga, and his baby sister Michelle Hammond and her husband Tom of Queensbury and Nicole LeRoux Payant.  Along with countless nieces, nephews, and cousins with whom he loved dearly.  Mark is also survived by his beloved girlfriend Kim Edwards of Queensbury.

To know Mark was to know kindness.  He was never one for fanfare and often showed his love and kindness quietly.  He fought courageously and valiantly right up until the end.  His family meant everything to him, especially his daughter and granddaughter.  He was the best Dad and Pepe to them both.  Life will not be the same without his infectious laugh and kind smile, and not to mention those famous grunts.

Mark’s family would like to extend sincerest gratitude to all who were involved in his care.  The wonderful nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital and Albany Medical.  Dr. Darci Gaiotti-Grubbs who did everything in her power to help Mark, as well as Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton who was only a phone call away.   To his Elks family for rallying for him in his time of need.  Mark was grateful to everyone.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tadd’s Giving Heart, a charity organization for helping children in need which is being established.  In the meantime, donations can be made to the organization Warren County Sheriff’s Office PBA, c/o Tadd Casey, 1400 State Rte 9, Lake George, NY 12845 where they will be held until this charity organization is officially established.

Family and friends may call on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc.,  68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.   Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81 will be conducting a Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Church of St Mary’s-St Paul’s in Hudson Falls followed by a private burial.

A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held at the Glens Falls Elks Lodge, 32 Cronin Road, Queensbury NY on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 PM.  As part of this Celebration there will be the opportunity to contribute to the charity.

In honor of Mark, you are welcome to find your best tie dye gear and celebrate Mark’s life the way he would have and wanted with music, laughter, good food, family and friends

Mark was such a kind soul. Last time I saw him was in Mandy’s picking up a pizza. He came right over to say hi to myself and my dad who had been struggling with dementia. He made it a point to talk to my dad and shook his hand.,so many people treat the elderly like they are invisible but Mark treated my dad with respect and kindness. May his soul be at peace and forever in our hearts. .

I went to school in Hudson Falls. Mark’s younger brother Dave graduated with me. I remember Mark and Dave as being great, fun – loving guys. I feel very nostalgic and sad to read Mark’s obituary as I started my induction into the Elk’s tonight. I hope it’s as enriching for me as Mark found The Elk’s.
