FORT EDWARD – Marion H. Bessaw, 85, of Burgoyne Ave, died peacefully, at her home, on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Marion was born on April 28, 1927, in Schenectady. Her mother was Flora (Wells) Campbell.
She attended local area schools.
In her younger years, Marion work for S and H Green Stamp in Florida and Albany. She retired from the Washington County Transportation Department. Marion loved collecting dolls and jewelry, betting on the house races and was an avid country music and Elvis Presley fan.
She was the widow of Clement Bessaw. Marion was also predeceased by her son, Ralph Graham and her beloved fiancé, Stanley A. Groom.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Thompson and her husband, Samuel of Schenectady; her nephew, David A. Smith and his wife, Christine; her great nephew, C. Russell Smith; and her dear friends, Deborah Keach and Barbara Wescott.
Marion’s family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will follow on Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Steve Smith, chaplain for High Peak Hospice, officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
