The morning of November 11th 2023 Marilyn Elliott Fraser went to meet our Lord from a peaceful sleep at Worthington Manor in Conroe, Texas. She was born on March 12, 1931 in the Glens Falls, New York, hospital to Agnes and George Elliott of 28 Poplar St. Hudson Falls N.Y. Marilyn was raised with her two brothers, Lee and Lancing (both with our Lord); and sisters, Evelyn Waterman (with our Lord), Ann McCarthy, and Agnes Wakeman.
Marilyn studied nursing at St. Peters in Albany. N.Y. and went on to become an Emergency Room nurse. In 1953 Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, James MacKenzie Fraser Jr., son of Rosemary and James Fraser of Hudson Falls, at St Mary’s Catholic Church. Marilyn and Jim raised a family of five sons; James III of The Woodlands Texas, Todd of Katy Texas, Richard of Katy Texas, John of Highland Illinois, and Robert Scott of Sykesville Maryland.
She enjoyed entertaining and dancing in her spare time, and was even seen with her sons on ice skates in the winter. She also enjoyed cooking, often making Strawberry-Rhubarb and Blackberry pies from home picked ingredients for ‘the gang’. Marilyn also found time to play Bridge with friends and became a lifetime Master Bridge player, something she was very proud of. In her later years Marilyn and Jim spent their summers at ‘the Fraser/Potvin Camp’ on Lake George in New York and spent time enjoying the fall colors and playing golf in Sky Valley, Georgia.
Marilyn was blessed with seven grandchildren: Nicole, Jamie, Sarah, Ian, James IV, Jordan, and Jacqueline. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Allyson, Ryan, James V, Jackson, Joshua, Jane, and Joy.
A graveside service with Rite of Committal will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.
We will all miss Marilyn’s booming laugh and her never ending love for Jim and her family
