HUDSON FALLS – Marie-Paule “Marie” Jacqueline Moore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully into the arms of our heavenly father on February 3, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kevin (Lynne), Jonelle McCoy (Robert), Keith (Holly), Julie, and Aimee Smith (Paul); grandchildren: Darcy, Justin, Ashley (Kiera), Lynsey (Thomas), Marcus, Elizabeth (Aaron), Tyler, Travis, and Baiya; great grandchildren: Braxon, Adleigh, Levi, Ellie, Madde, Beckett, Abraham and Elijiah; and brother, John.
Marie is predeceased by her husband, Philip; her parents; her sister, Carol and brothers, Joseph, Roland and Kenneth; and her granddaughter, Jessica.
Marie was born on September 7, 1931, in Hudson Falls to parents Eli and Clara (Toupin) Oligny and lived there most of her life. She spoke French fluently in her youth and spent time in boarding school in Quebec, Canada. She later attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, where she was active on the cheerleading squad. A beautiful and charming young woman, she met her future husband, Philip Thomas Moore, on a blind date in 1951 and loved him faithfully for 69 years until his death in 2020.
Marie worked for several years for Glens Falls Insurance Company before devoting herself full time to raising her five children. She returned to work for the Hudson Falls School District until she retired in 1993.
As devout Catholics, Marie and Philip were longtime communicates of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church. They served as counselors for marriage preparation and founded the contemporary music group in 1972. Marie was a Eucharistic minister and served on the bereavement committee. She was a lover of music and continued to sing with the Joyful Noise music group until shortly before her passing. Marie enjoyed several hobbies including baking, playing cards and quilting. She was a long-time member of the Wing Falls Quilters Guild. Known as a lifelong avid walker, she became a certified Osteobusters instructor when she was 90.
She will be remembered for her dedication to family & faith, and for her generosity, delectable Christmas cookies, and prize-winning handmade quilts.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church on the Circle in Hudson Falls with the Reverand Robert Powhida, officiating.
She will be interred at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Hudson Falls at a later date.

I went to high school with Marie. A very good person. I still remember her smile.
