Margaret R. (Kelleher) Howard

GLENS FALLS – Margaret R. (Kelleher) Howard, 58, of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully at Westchester Medical Center on Sunday, October 29, 2023, with her loving daughter by her side.

Born on October 22, 1965, in Glens Falls, Margaret was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sharron (Kill) Kelleher.

Margaret was a 1983 graduate of Glens Falls High School.

She began her nursing career as a CNA at the Wesley Health Care Center.  While working hard and raising her children, Margaret earned her nursing license from BOCES and continued her work as a young adult head trauma nurse at Wesley. Most recently, Margaret was employed with the Warren Washington ARC, where she enjoyed providing love and care to her clients.

Margaret was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls.

She enjoyed camping, cooking and baking her famous cheesecakes.  Margaret especially loved ice fishing. She looked forward to her trips to Maine where she could be found enjoying the cool crisp waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Back in her younger days, Margaret never missed the opportunity to attend the yearly tailgating party at a Buffalo Bills game.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is predeceased by her brothers Joe and Sean Kelleher, and the sister she never had, Arlene Plude.

Survivors include her son, Donald Cornell Howard III; her daughter, Caitlin Anderson; her SIL, John Anderson; and her grandchildren, Aden Howard, Logan Howard, Jayce Anderson, and Abigayle Margaret-Jean Anderson. Margaret is also survived by the love of her life, Jim O’Keefe and their 4-legged child, Pepper; her brothers, Dan Kelleher (Marsha) and Pat Kelleher; her nieces, Heather, Alyssa, and Sarah; and her nephew Ryan.

Friends may call on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. at 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at St. Mary’s Church, 62 Warren St. in Glens Falls.

Rite of Committal will follow the Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Margaret’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Westchester Medical Center’s Transplant Team for the exceptional care provided during this difficult time.

Donations in Margaret’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

    So very sorry ,shocked,to hear of Margaret’s passing. I knew Margaret, your Mom and Grandmother, from Wesley. Your Mother worked on the unit, I was Unit Coordinator. I always knew Margaret would be a wonderful Nurse. She was kind, extremely competent, a very good Charge Nurse. Well liked, respected by our Residents and Staff.
