Lorraine J. Monrian

HUDSON FALLS – Lorraine J. (Chase) Monrian, 91, a long-time resident of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her home surrounded by her devoted and loving family.

Born April 1, 1933, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Lewis E. and Anna E. (Pearson) Chase.

Lorraine married Gerald J. Monrian, Sr. in 1949 and the two were together until his passing in March 2004.

While raising her family, Lorraine was a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant at Fort Hudson Nursing Facility for thirty-one and a half years.

In Lorraine’s early days she loved roller skating. Some of the things she loved doing in her later years was playing cards, going out to eat, and being with her family. Lorraine loved attending her grandchildren’s concerts, dance recitals and sporting events. She also loved spending time at Ushers Park in Lake George, traveling in her daughter’s motor home, and vacationing with her children and their families in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Myrtle Beach, and Florida. Lorraine adored her family and will be deeply missed by all.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine is predeceased by her children, Judith Ann Monrian and Deborah Sue Monrian, her sister, Ruth Freer, her son in law, Richard “Dick” Champagne, and daughter in law, Karen Monrian.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Constance “Connie” Monrian of South Glens Falls, Gerald “Jerry” Monrian (Sharon) of Queensbury, Ann “Annie” Champagne of Hudson Falls, Robert “Bobby” Monrian (Terri) of Glens Falls, Colleen Hoag of Hudson Falls, and Kelle Engel (William “Bill”) of Queensbury. She was the loving “grandma” and “GiGi” to several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 5pm-8pm at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will be held at 7 pm.

A graveside service will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Fort Edward on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12 pm with Father Charles, officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Richard J. Champagne, Jr., Bryan P. Champagne, Justin S. Hoag, Joshua C. Castler, Jacob K. Castler, Noah C. Engel, Nathan G. Engel, and Isaiah C. Engel.
