GLENS FALLS – Loren Clifford Johnson, 89, of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Glens Falls Hospital, with his daughters, Tambra and Tara, by his side.
Born on September 4, 1926 in Granville, he was the son of the late Dwight Johnson and Fannie Monroe.
Loren attended Hudson Falls, Granville and Hartford Schools.
In 1993, he married Virginia Johnson at their home in Hudson Falls.
Loren did many jobs throughout his life. He worked on construction for many area firms and also was a land surveyor. At one time, Loren was the owner and operator of an Exon gas station and also drove taxi.
He loved being around people and they loved spending time with him. Loren always enjoyed laughing and reminiscing with his friends and family. He also was known to partake in his cocktails and taking scenic drives to Vermont to pick up his favorite Vermont cheddar cheese.
Besides his wife and parents, Loren was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Johnson and his three sisters, Doris Stewart, Dora Beebe and Margaret Johnson.
Survivors include his children, Tambra Johnson Smith and her husband, Christopher of Queensbury, Tara Vestal and her husband, Matthew of South Glens Falls, Sharon Ruggi and her husband, Ennio of Hudson Falls, Linda Ferry of South Glens Falls, Tim Johnson of Glens Falls and Todd Johnson and his wife, Stephanie of Moreau; his step daughter, Betsy Parker and her husband, Joe of South Ozone Park in Queens; his step son, Patrick Aurelia of Hudson Falls; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 17th, from 10- 12 Noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 Noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville.
Loren’s family suggests the memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Northeastern New York Chapter, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
