GLENS FALLS – Lawrence “Larry” Cook, 3rd, 60, of Glens Falls, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in April 11, 1955, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Whiting) Cook, Sr.
Larry attended school on Fort Edward and served with the United States Navy from 1972 to 1973.
He was a truck driver for many years and worked for Finch Pruyn for a short time. He enjoyed driving a limo for his son’s business, Pristine Limousine.
He married his beloved wife, Cynthia Needham in Las Vegas, NV on May 8, 1996.
He was an avid bowler, having bowled 5 300 games and participated in a national tournament in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed stock car racing and like to go to the local dirt tracks. He was an avid CB’er using the handle “Peter Drag In” and he was often considered the life of the party and loved to make people laugh. But, when all is said and done, it was the time Larry spent with his family that gave him the greatest joy.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a grandson, James Christopher Cook, Jr.
Larry is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Needham) Cook of Glens Falls; his children, Michele Norton and her husband John of Glens Falls, Christopher Cook of Glens Falls, Valarie Cook of Fort Edward and Tiffany Cook of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Nick Turner, Cody Turner, Patrick Norton, Jennifer Brown, Joseph Cook, Rebecca Dow, Kaitlynn Dow, Connor Cook, Taleisha Cain and Tatiana Blair; his great grandchild, Maya Turner; his brothers and sister, Robert Cook and his wife, Barbara of Glens Falls, William Cook and his wife, Chris of Queensbury, Terry Cook and his partner, Mike Brazee of Ballston Spa and Rosealee Cook of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sorry to here about Larry
Thank you so much Emma! Your empathy and kind worlds make this difficult time a little easier.
I have known Larry for years in senior bowling in Ft. Edward. He was a talented bowler, and when asked, he would offer suggestions—but only when asked. He had a way of making people feel good about themselves. His ready smile, good humor, and kindly manner will be missed by us all. He made the world a better place, I think.

My condolences to the family of Larry Cook. I knew Larry through Senior Bowling in Ft. Edward. He was a talented bowler, but never a boastful one. He was kindly, offering suggestions, but only when asked. Larry’s modest mien, kindly smile, and sense of humor made him special. He will be dearly missed.
