Joyce (Gregory) Hammond

GLENS FALLS – Joyce (Gregory) Hammond, 84, of Glens Falls, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Glens Falls Hospital with her daughter Jennifer by her side.

She was born on May 16, 1939 in Yonkers NY and was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Deyette) Gregory. Joyce grew up in Hudson Falls and attended Hudson Falls Central Schools. In her early years, she worked at General Electric and then went on to work in various positions at Queensbury Central Schools where she eventually retired. She was very well liked by the staff and the students at the school.

Joyce and her late husband, Sonny, were members of the Northeast Association of Country and Western Entertainers. They loved attending local country shows and gatherings together.

Joyce loved life and always kept her unique sense of humor. She would want to be remembered that way.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, Robert Baker; her second husband, Arthur “Sonny” Hammond, who was the love of her life; three sisters, Shirley, Doris and Beatrice: a brother, Richard; two daughters, Melissa Cash and Jami Baker; and an infant son, Kevin Baker.

She is survived by her son, Bob Baker (Gina); her daughter, Jennifer McIntosh; her grandchildren, Kurtis John, Samantha Gordon, David Beecher, Matthew Beecher, Zachary Plude, Robert Baker, Jr., and Casey Baker; a very special great-granddaughter, Emma Lee John; her brothers, Raymond Gregory (Linda) and Marvin Gregory.

Other survivors include her step-children, Steve Hammond (Nicki), Chrissy Bordon (Len), and Arthur “Bubby” Hammond (Hope); her very special niece and nephews whom she thought of as her own children, Cheryl LeVasseur (Fran), Richard Gregory, Stephen Gregory (Rebecca), and their mom, a very special friend and sister in law, Carol Mead Towne.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the American Legion Post 574, 72 Pearl Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be at a later date in Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.

The family suggests donation’s in Joyce’s memory be made to the American Legion Post #574, 72 Pearl Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
