SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Joseph E. Garavelli, 65 of South Glens Falls, passed away Friday afternoon, January 24, 2025 at his home.
Joe was born March 3, 1959 in Albany and was the son of the late Joseph E. and Eileen (Bernhardt) Garavelli. Joe was always a go-getter and started his young working career as a manger for McDonalds and Rite Aid. He then received training as a corrections officer and began his career at Mount McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton, where he retired after 30 years of service. After he retired, he began offering handyman services to customers and always stayed busy as he was very mechanically inclined.
Joe loved being social and visiting with folks anywhere he went. He especially loved spending his time with his grandkids, and he will be missed for his unique personality and his quick wit and sense of humor. His loss leaves a giant void in the lives of his family and friends that cannot possibly be filled. He will be so very missed.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved brother, Raymond Garavelli.
He is survived by his daughter, Katie Lee (Justin) of South Glens Falls; his beloved grandchildren, Max and Izzy; his brothers, Kurt Koules and George Garavelli; sister, Brenda Garavelli; his nieces and nephews, Joey and Mia Garavelli, and Elizabeth Koulos Lynch; great-nephew, Cary Thomas; and close friend and mother of Katie, Susan Philion.
Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity close to your heart.
