John M. Galusha

Galusha john newQUEENSBURY – It is with great sadness that the family of John M. Galusha announce his unexpected passing on Sunday July 2, 2017 at the age of 49.

Born on September 8, 1967, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George R. and Geneva (Leppard) Galusha.

John was a 1986 graduate of Queensbury High School.

He was a longtime employee of Ray Supply, where he made many friends.

John loved his family and friends and was always looking to make us laugh. He would get on kicks, some of the fondest being his hotdog machine, his homemade bread, homemade pizza and fried food movie night when the kids were younger. He loved music especially old classic rock songs. John had a heart of gold – once emptying his own apartment so his nephew could have furniture –  John would give the shirt off his back to help someone. He was a kind, peaceful and loving person. We all miss him a lot.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Stephen G. Galusha.

John will be lovingly remembered by his son, Joshua M. Galusha of Gansevoort; his sisters, Lynn M. Galusha Dumas of Hudson Falls and Judy A. Ovitt and her husband, Roger Ovitt, Jr. of Gansevoort; his nephews, Matthew B. Dumas, Richard G. Sheerer, and Robert J. Sheerer; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many lifelong friends.

Friends may call on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 12 to 1:30 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will follow at 1:30 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Memorial Donations may be sent to The Foundation of Alcoholism Research, F.A.R. P.O. Box 31135, Chicago, Ill, 60631.

Most of my childhood memories include John, Judy and Lynn who live two houses down from us until we moved out of state in the late 70’s. Picnics, camping, hiking, were just some of the many fun things our two families did together.

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother, and the empty place he leaves behind.

Love and Prayers go out to you in this time of grief,

    Susan

I have many fond memories of when we were kids. I remember helping him learn to read when he was in kindergarten or first grade and John and Chris constantly hanging together. We were close growing up. Until I see you again, I love you.

In addition to fond childhood memories, I remember how generous John was as an adult. John volunteered to DJ our parents anniversary party and would not take any compensation. He did a wonderful job, his love of music shining through. Thanks so much for being you.

    Judy, Lynn & family,
In time may your memories bring you peace & comfort. So very sorry for your loss.
