Jeanne A. Durling

DurlingQUEENSBURY – Jeanne A. Durling, 87, formerly of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida, passed away saying her rosary, on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Stanton Health Care Facility.

Born on April 18, 1926, in Boston, Mass, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Mabel (O’Connor) Bracken.

After high school, Jeanne graduated from Boston University.  She worked as a physical education teacher at St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls until she met her husband, Edward Durling.

Jeanne and Edward were married on January 21, 1950 in Boston, Mass.

Together with her husband, she operated Durling Studio in Hudson Falls, for 30 years.  Jeanne was a member of the Glens Fall s Hospital Guild.  Some of her favorite times in life were sitting by the pool in Florida talking to her friends.  Most important to her was being with her family.  She also thoroughly enjoyed wheeling and dealing at Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Francis, Sonny and Paul Bracken and also her sisters in law, Peggy Bracken, Frances Renaud, and Lorretta Bracken.

She is survived by her four children,  Peter Durling and his wife, Daria of Vermont, Sue Anne Mayette and her husband, David of Vermont, Joanne Watkins and her husband, Peter of Queensbury, Gerry Durling of Florida; her grandchildren, Molly, Michael, Matthew, Jana and her husband, Shaun, Valerie and her husband, Adam, Cara and her fiancé, Liam, Tom; her brand new great granddaughter, Isla; several nieces, nephews,  cousins; her brother in law, Richard Durling and his wife, Margaret of Florida; and her sister in law, Mary Anne Whiting and her husband, Robert of Florida.

Friends may call on Friday, December 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

Jeanne will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
