HUDSON FALLS – Janice Newcomb, 97, of Dean Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, April 7, 2022 at her home with her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Petey at her side.
Born on January 10, 1925 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Irving Griffing and Edith Pearl (Washburn) Hamilton.
Janice loved spending time as a volunteer at Glens Falls Hospital. She worked in the coffee shop there and always took care of the medical staff when they came in for coffee and a snack. She loved to read and enjoyed baking and cooking. Spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest love.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Douglas H. Newcomb; her daughter, Carol Sutton; and a sister, Eleanor.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Harrington; her grandchildren, Nicole Salone (Josh) of Queensbury, and Jennifer Paradis of Fort Edward; her great-grandchildren, Devon, Olivia, Ashana, Dravin, Karleah, Silas and Niko; and her great-great granddaughter, Nova.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Oneida Community Church, 197 Sunnyside Road in Queensbury.
Janice will be laid to rest with her Husband, Douglas, in a private ceremony at the convenience of the family in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
