Inez M. Smith

WARRENSBURG – Inez M. Smith, a beacon of love, courage, and kindness, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2024, surrounded by her adoring family. Born on September 19, 1949, her life was a testament to the strength and courage of a feisty and spirited woman.

Inez graduated from Fort Ann High School in 1968 and went onto work various jobs, many times, two or three at a time to support her family.  After high school she started at the Glens Falls Insurance Company, was a cashier for several businesses and then ultimately retired from the medical billing industry where she had worked for Medefis, Hudson Headwaters Health Network and Glens Falls Hospital.

Inez was a devoted mother to her three cherished daughters with Peter Smith of Lake George: Dawn Smith (partner Edwin McCotter), Kimberly Palm (Scott), and Rebecca Smith. Her children were the light of her life, and she loved them with her whole heart and would tell you, each one was her favorite.

She adored her grandchildren, Nicholas Smith (Araelle) and Isabella Goodemote (Jared), finding immense joy in watching them grow and thrive. The smile on her face could light up the darkest room just by the mere mention of her grandkids.

Inez is also survived by her siblings: Edith Williams (her twin), along with Mary Williams, Betty Beatty, Jerry Williams (Marilyn), Violet Weatherwax, Roger Williams, Ingrid Williams, Donna Williams, Anson Williams and her adopted family, The Monahan’s of Fort Ann.

She is predeceased by her brother, Colonel Williams and her adopted parents, Edward and Tink Monahan.

In addition to her devotion to family, Inez found happiness in the company of her extended adopted family and friends, sharing laughter, love, and cherished memories.

Inez had a great fondness for bowling, enjoyed many long day trips throughout the Adirondacks with the special people in her life, playing cornhole at backyard parties, loved trivia and would never pass up an opportunity to enjoy a lobster roll.

Despite humble beginnings, Inez faced life’s challenges with strength and courage.

Inez Smith leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. While she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched and the enduring memories she leaves behind.

Please join us for food, drinks, memories, laughs and love at a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 3pm-7pm, at the West Glens Falls Fire House, 33 Luzerne Road, Queensbury, NY 12804.

May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she brought into this world.
