My deepest sympathies to the family of Helene. I came to know her through my great-grandmother’s correspondences with her. She had so thoughtfully picked up her mother’s place in corresponding with her, they had been best friends. Grandma Murch would happily read me her letters or give me the “news from Helene” whenever a letter arrived. I got to feel like a friend adjacent with Helene. I even found myself looking forward to hearing the latest from Helene. She was truly a lovely person.
Helene was my elementary school librarian and my mom’s pen pal until the very end. She was an inspiration and will be missed.
What an Amazing woman she was. We will always remember her Christmas trees and all the decorations, it was magical going to her house to see her trees, each tree had a different theme and a story. Every year she would decide on different themes. We so much enjoyed visiting her any time of year, and we had many Birthday parties that she would host. From her Beautiful flowers and the veggies she’d grow. She had many interest in life, from doing crafts and reading, doing jigsaw puzzles….planning parties, and collecting bells and owls…She will truly be missed by all who knew her. May you Rest in Peace our Good friend.
