Esther M. Stockwell

HUDSON FALLS – Esther M. Stockwell, 92, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 10, 2025 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born on September 17, 1932, she was a life-long area resident and daughter of the late Erwin and Edith (Bullion) Bardin of Hudson Falls.

Esther was a graduate of Hudson Falls School in 1951. After High School, she started her work career at the Glens Falls Insurance, beginning as a file clerk. Eventually, the company was bought by Continental and Esther retired in 1990 as File Clerk Supervisor.

Esther and her husband, Robert were married on September 7, 1951 in the United Methodist Church in Hudson Falls.  They shared a wonderful marriage for 42 years. Family was the center of Esther’s life, and she loved spending Sunday dinners with her sons and their wives. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Stockwell; her son, Robert Stockwell Jr. and his wife, Karen; her brothers, Herbert Bardin and his wife, Connie, Benjamin Bardin and his wife, Marjorie, Erwin Bardin and his wife, Betty; her sister, Elizabeth Barton and her husband, Lee; and her brother in law, Milton Stockwell and his wife, Theresa.

Survivors include her sons, Donald Stockwell and his wife, Nancy of Hudson Falls, and Mark Stockwell and his wife, Colleen of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Robert Stockwell, III (Kazumi), Adam Stockwell (Larissa), Michelle Stockwell (Craig), Mary-Ellen Capasso (Vincent), and Mark Stockwell (Cassandra); her great-grandchildren, Yukino, Scarlett, Beatrice, Constantino, Easton, and Everett; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Nancy and granddaughter, Michelle and many other family members, as well as her at home caregiver, Anita for all of the special care and attention given to her. The family would also like to thank all of her friends at the Cedars and the wonderful staff and nurses at Fort Hudson Nursing Home for making her final days more comfortable.

Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the spring at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward.
