Elizabeth “Betty” Raymond

Elizabeth “Betty” Raymond, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the age of 80 due to complications from a heart procedure.  She went to the grave in full vigor as she has professed.  Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and devotion that will forever remain in our hearts.

Betty, and the love of her life, Howard, shared a love story that spanned over 5 decades. Their bond was unbreakable, and their love served as an inspiration to all who knew them. They were true partners in life’s journey enjoying each other through Model A rides, family dinners and parties, get-away vacations, and embracing the special moments of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s lives.

As a hands-on grandmother, Betty was the model of warmth and affection. Her grandchildren adored her, and she cherished every moment spent with them whether it was baking, cooking, playing games, doing crafts, watching movies, or simply snuggling and enjoying their company. Family was everything to her, and the love she had for them had no bounds.

Betty dedicated herself by serving others, knowing that God would work through her even in the smallest of ways to let His love be magnified.  She had miraculous strength and purpose in her faith. She radiated God’s love, and her endless spirit of joy was contagious.

A true craft enthusiast, Betty had a talent for turning ordinary materials into works of art. Her creative spirit brought joy to those who received her handcrafted gifts.  The highlight of the year was the ‘Christmas in the Country’ craft show, a tradition for many friends and family.

She was also known for her love of a good party. She had an infectious enthusiasm for life’s celebrations, and her presence made any gathering more vibrant and joyful. She decorated cakes over the years for countless celebrations.  Her pies were a hit, as well. Her laughter and zest for life will be truly missed.

One of her most proud accomplishments was the writing of her published memoir, Behind the Smile: My Story for His Glory.  She felt led to share her life story to be an encouragement to others who may be facing similar obstacles that she overcame with the help of her Lord.

In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by her beloved brother, Fred Viehmann and sister, Barbara Kulani .

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Howard, her children, Carolyn Bailey (Michael), Maureen Miller (Scott), Daniel Raymond (Carolyn) and her grandchildren, Sarah, Meghan, Ryan, Jacob, Anna, Emma and Sam, and her great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Howard, Eloise, and Kimberlyn; She also leaves behind her siblings Ronald Viehmann (Roberta), Madeline Farr (Roger), and several half brothers and sisters.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2-4 pm at The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, NY.  Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Please join us in honoring the life of this remarkable woman who brought so much love and happiness to our lives.

In lieu of flowers, if you feel led, please make a donation to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.  This is an organization that Betty supported for years.
