ARGYLE and CHARLESTON, SC – Dennis Joseph Healey, 76, of Dutchtown Rd, and formerly of Charleston, S.C., passed away peacefully, with his loving son, Sean by his side, at the Glens Falls Hospital, on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
Born on September 20, 1940, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Cook) Healey. At the age of five, he moved from Brooklyn to this area. Dennis grew up in Gansevoort and in his younger years, worked at General Electric Company as a welder, before leaving for Kansas. In Kansas, he also was a welder for Cessna, where he built aircraft. Dennis then continued his career in aircraft assembly at Beechcraft Corp, as a welder. He moved to South Carolina, to be near family and worked for Bosch Corp, retiring after 20 years of service.
After his retirement, Dennis loved traveling to Ireland and Australia. He was an avid reader and a history buff. Dennis especially loved studying the Civil War and World War II. He enjoyed camping with his kids when they were younger and vising historical sites, such as Gettysburg. Transportation especially interested him, Dennis enjoyed learning about and visiting all modes of transportation, from planes, trains to automobiles. He especially enjoyed going flying with his son.
Food, cooking and eating were also things that he enjoyed. Dennis looked forward to going to restaurants with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, John, Toni, Nana, Dan and Edward.
He is survived by his children, Sean Healey and his wife, Jill of Argyle, Tim Healey and his wife, Theresa, Edward Healey, Colleen Healey and her husband, James; his brother, Peter Healey of Schenectady; his grandchildren, Spencer Healey, Brenna Healey, Megan Healey, Colton Holmes and Abigal Healey; his special niece, Laurie Chard of Hudson Falls and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, October 28th, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
