Christopher J. “Chris” Farrington, Sr.

JOHNSTOWN – Christopher J. “Chris” Farrington, Sr., 63, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025 in Schenectady, NY following a short illness. Born on February 17, 1962 in Glens Falls, he lived a life marked by dedication to service, both to his country and to the people he cared for throughout his career.

A proud graduate of Glens Falls High School, class of 1981, Chris went on to serve in the United States Air Force beginning in 1983. Over the course of two decades, he was stationed at several locations before retiring with honor after 20 years of military service. Following his military career, Chris continued his commitment to helping others by working as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in several area nursing homes. For 28 years, he provided compassionate care to the elderly, a role he truly enjoyed and took great pride in.

Chris had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who found peace and joy in nature. In retirement, he embraced travel and cherished time spent with family and friends. Many evenings were happily passed around a campfire, sharing stories and laughter under the stars.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy Farrington; his two sons, Christopher Farrington, Jr., and his wife, Lisa Green of Germany, and Jeffrey Farrington and his girlfriend, Samantha Jaikin of Warrensburg; he was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Christopher III, Lily, Isabella, Olivia, Sophia, and Jasper.

He is also survived by his siblings, Walter Farrington (Brenda) of San Diego, CA, Deborah Varnum of South Glens Falls, Mike Farrington (Shelly) of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Susan Bright and her partner, Jim of Ballston Spa. His best friend Lowell Varnum held a special place in his life.

Chris leaves behind many nieces and nephews who brought him joy; Derrick Hammond (Kellie) of Knoxville, TN, Nicole Starchild and her partner, Lamar of Tampa, FL, Michael Farrington, II (Hollis) of Fort Hood, TX, Stephen Bleyl (Sara) of Fort Edward, Jeremey Farrington (RaeLeigh) of Petal, MS, Daniel Farrington of San Diego, CA, Korey Farrington (LeAnna) of Rockingham, NC, and Dakota Varnum of Lake George.

His legacy continues through five great-nephews; Warren Farrington, III, Jacolby Farrington, Brady Bleyl, Jasper Farrington, and Korbyn Farrington; and four great nieces, Mercedez Starchild (KeShawn), Maddison Bleyl, Rose Farrington, and Kaizley Farrington, as well as one great-great niece, Alexiona.

Chris was predeceased by his parents, Sylvia Cook and Walter Farrington, as well as his nephew, Robert Donovan.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Chris’ life was one defined by service to country, community, family and by a dep appreciation for nature’s beauty and the bonds that connect us all. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

    So sorry. I worked many days and hours ai Westmount. We traveled many hours in the van transporting residents to and from appointments.
    You will be missed.
