FORT EDWARD-Catherine D. “Kay” Corlew, 98, of Fort Hudson Nursing Home, passed away on January 1, 2019 at the nursing home.
Born on November 18, 1920 in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Allen) Upton.
Kay was married to Dennis J. Corlew until his passing on January 11, 1990.
She was employed by the Hudson Falls School System, where she worked as a Cook Manager.
Kay was an avid bowler and she played every Friday morning. She also loved the Yankees.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her two sons, Dennis F. Corlew and his wife, Nancy of Charlotte, North Carolina and Gary Corlew and his wife, Marla of Danbury, Connecticut; her grandchildren, Joelle Corlew-Scally of Hudson Falls, Kellie Corlew of Fort Edward, Rachel Donahue and her husband, Matthew of Thomaston, Connecticut, and Nolan Corlew of Danbury, Connecticut; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m.
Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the spring.
The family suggests that donations in Kay’s name be made to Fort Hudson Nursing Home Construction Fund, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828 or to an Alzheimer’s Society of one’s choice.
A truly great lady, an extra mom to me growing up.
