Cody W. Sherman

GLENS FALLS – Cody W. Sherman, 27, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2021.

Born June 20, 1994, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Sherri (Beebe) and William (Bill) C. Sherman, III.

Cody attended Argyle High School and then went onto work a variety of jobs throughout the years.  Most recently, he worked for a local landscaping company where he found himself enjoying working outdoors and working hard with his hands. 

He loved baseball, being outdoors, fishing and hunting, where he created treasured memories with his family and friends.    He had a passion for riding dirt bikes, ATV’s and snowmobiles any chance he got; he was sure to be there to join in.  Cody loved nature and animals, along with numerous family pets he cared for over the years.

Cody was thoughtful, he would be there whenever there was someone in need. His family and friends were most important to him.  Cody had a huge, kind heart, with a smile just as big, along with a good handshake or the biggest bear hug to greet you with.  He had the family trait of a great sense of humor, always there to make you laugh with his crazy antics.

Cody is predeceased by his maternal and paternal great grandparents; his paternal grandfather, William C. Sherman, II; his dear great aunt and uncle, Betty (Bebee) and Dennis Stevens and his dear childhood friend, Meg Archer, who he considered to be a second sister.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include “his sissy”, Alyssa M. Sherman (Jim Alves); his mother, Sherri Sherman (Greg White); his father, William (Bill) Sherman (Evie Brown); his maternal grandmother, Joyce Wren (Kenny Moffit); his maternal grandfather, Bob Beebe (Gretchen); his paternal grandmother, Trudy Leblanc (Ed), along with many dear aunts, uncles and cousins.

In Cody’s young life of 27 years, he lived and loved life the best way he could.  Our beloved boy is at peace now and we, as his family and friends, will carry on with many wonderful memories to cherish for the days ahead.

Per Cody’s request, there with be no formal services.  A celebration of life will be held in Cody’s memory Saturday, September 25, 2021, 1 p.m., at 55 Harrison Ave., in South Glens Falls, New York.  All are welcome.

Mary Irene (Rivet) Dumond

HUDSON FALLS – Mary Irene (Rivet) Dumond, 77, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on September 21, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

Born September 14, 1944 in Ballston Spa, NY.  She was the daughter of Walter and Ada (Benway) Rivet. 

She loved her family, friends, God, and crafts.  “Beautiful Mary” was well known for her friendly smile and her hospitality.  Mary graduated from Fort Ann Central School.

Survivors include her loving husband, Lionel Dumond, Sr.; sister, Thresa (Ronald) Marshall; children Michael (Anna) Lemery, Regina (Duane) Downing, Marcy (Sheridan) Race II, Lester Lemery, Yvonne Hyde, Annette (Brian) Jewett, Lynne Dumond, Kim (Bill) Cornelius, Lionel (Colleen) Dumond, Jr. and Dominique (Maria) Dumond.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is predeceased by husband Romeo Lemery and several brothers and sisters. 

A small private gathering will be held for the family.

Susan (Smith) Devino

HUDSON FALLs – Susan (Smith) Devino, 58, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at her home.

Born on July 25, 1963, in Granville, she was the daughter of the late August Smith and Kay (Andrews) Smith.

Susan attended Granville High School.

She enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows and most of all she cherished spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.  Susan was also an animal lover, she had cats, birds and ferrets.  Susan was an avid Jets fan, even though not everyone in the house agreed with her choice of team.  Most of all, she enjoyed relaxing dinners with her longtime companion, Rob Cooper.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, George Guilder and her infant grandchild, Colby Bullock.

She is survived by her three children, Steven Bullock, Megan Devino and Sonya (Jes) Cook; her two step children, Brittany Devino and Brenda Devino; her grandchildren, Emma Terpening, Carla Terpening, Stephen Bullock, II and Ryder Devino; her siblings, Kathy Andrews, Mark Smith and August Andrews, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Memorial donations may be sent to a local soup kitchen of your choice.

Josephine Westervelt Steele

HUDSON FALLS – Josephine Westervelt Steele, 95, of Brenda Drive, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Slate Valley Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Granville.

Born on August 10, 1926 in Mineola, Long Island, she was the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Westervelt) MacEwan.

Josephine and her family moved from Long Island to this area and she graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1944 .  After her graduation, Josephine began working at Glens Falls Insurance Company as a secretary, until she met her future husband. 

On May 2, 1948, she married the love of her life, Robert D. Steele, Sr.  He passed away on August 18, 2021, after 73 wonderful years of marriage.  Following her marriage, she became a full time stay at home mom.  This was her calling in life.  To love, support and honor her husband, her children and her Lord.    Along with her husband, she was a longtime faithful member of the Greater Glens Falls Bible Baptist Church.  For many years, she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir.

Josephine was tiny in size and large in spirit.

Besides her parents and husband, Robert, she was predeceased by her son, Paul A. Steele.

Survivors include her children, Robert D. Steele, Jr., Larry K. Steele, JoAnn M. Steele, Diane L. Skinner and Peter B. Steele; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside Service will be conducted at 10 A.M. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Moss Street Cemetery in town of Kingsbury.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Patrick “Pat” ‘Bud” W. Smith, Jr.

GLENS FALLS – Patrick “Pat” ‘Bud” W. Smith, Jr., 35, of Glens Falls, went to his next journey at 3:25 a.m., on September 13, 2021, at Albany Medical Center, as a result of injuries sustained from a hit and run accident.

Born January 13, 1986 in Bristol, CT, he was the son of Mary Ann Johnson and the late Patrick W. Smith, Sr.

Pat attended Glens Falls High School and BOCES, studying Culinary Arts.

He lived in LA for many years, just recently moving back to the area.  Pat loved all types of music; he was a master video gamer and enjoyed the outdoors and nature.  He will be remembered for his polite and respectful demeaner and his generosity to anyone in need.  Pat was a genuine and true friend to many, a mama’s boy and an animal lover.  He especially loved his niece, Zayda, who looked up to Pat as her hero.  Conversation came easy to Pat, he was an intellect and a great listener, who had a lot to say.  Most importantly, Pat was deeply loved, and he loved his family with the same intensity.  Pat, his mother and his sister, Jamie were very close and loved spending time together, they were known by many as the three musketeers

Besides his father, Pat was predeceased by his niece, Vaydrin Acqusanta, grandmother, Marion Tougaw; his grandfather, William Tougaw and his grandparents, Agnes and William Smith.

Survivors include his fiancé, Samantha Sambile of Los Angeles, CA; his mother, Mary Ann Johnson of Queensbury; his sister, Jamie Johnson of Hudson Falls; his niece, Zayda Starr of Queensbury; his half siblings, Nancy Poitras of VT, Sarah Smith of CT, April Smith of CT, Franklin Smith of Louisiana, Hannah Smith of Glens Falls as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends, too numerous to mention.

Friends may call Monday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m., on Tuesday, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Elizabeth Ellen Langer

OSWEGO – Elizabeth Ellen Langer, 92, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2021, at Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego.

Born July 29, 1929 in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Thompson) Dickinson.

In May 31, 1948, Betty married Edwin Langer.

For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for Harris Stores in Hudson Falls and Pulaski.

Betty enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.

Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edwin; her son, Thomas; her brothers, Frederick, Kenneth, Gerald, and her sisters, Dorothy and Virginia.

Survivors include her sons, David and his wife, Georgette, Richard and his wife, Lee, and Jeffery and his wife, Lacole; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her sister, Carol; her sister-in-law Loretta, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Carol A Flynn

FORT EDWARD – Carol A Flynn, 81, of Fort Edward, joined her beloved husband Charles in the arms of the Lord on September 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 17, 1939, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Warren Green & Elizabeth Green (Clute).

She attended Glens Falls High School.

Carol loved country & Irish music. She was an avid reader. She was a collector of angels, teddy bears, porcelain dolls & Fenton art glass. Carol also enjoyed boat rides on Lake George and riding in the country with her late husband Charles.

On October 13, 1979, she married her second husband, Charles H. Flynn of Lake George, NY. He passed away on February 9, 2012 after 32 years of marriage.  She was also predeceased by her brother Richard Green.

Carol and her first husband, Walter P Jones, were married for 17 years before his passing. They are survived by their six children, Kathy (Bill) Fenton, Debbie Corbett, Nora (J.D.) Sanders, Lori( John) Wilder, Patricia (Jason) Smith, Mathew Jones; her brothers, Robert (Annmarie) Green, Michael (Joyce) Green; her sister, Gloria (Richard) LaVigne; she also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Sister Donna Irvine, chaplain at the Glens Falls Hospital, officiating.

Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Veteran’s Cemetery on Duel Road in the town of Stillwater.

Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Dr #100, Albany, NY 12205.

Special thanks to the Warren Center, their caring & loving staff made a very stressful & emotional time a little more bearable.

Steven J. Newton

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Steven J. Newton, 54, of Terry Drive passed away on September 8, 2021, at his home in South Glens Falls.

Born January 12, 1967 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John and Nancy (Gray) Newton.

Steve was a former employee of Price Chopper Supermarkets in the Glens Falls area. He also worked with area bands and promoted charity events.

Steve enjoyed listening to music and socializing with his many friends.

Survivors include his children, Jonathan Newton and Sharmarie Sherman; several grandchildren, and his brother, Thomas Newton of Woodstock, GA

Friends may call Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Mary Ann Bradley

HUDSON FALLS – Mary Ann Bradley, 77, of Maple Street, passed away after a short illness on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital. 

Born on April 3, 1944 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Jennie (Jane) A. (Shaver) Pike.   

Mary was a 1962 graduate of Glens Falls High School and 1964 graduate of Adirondack Community College. 

On August 21, 1965, she married Lester Bradley. 

Mary had a passion for anything Elvis Presley, making yearly trips to Graceland.  She also enjoyed artwork from Thomas Kincaid. Mary’s greatest treasures in life were her loving family, vacations in Maine by the sea and her constant dog companion, Natalie.  

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Lester Bradley, 3 sons; Ryan H. Bradley and his wife, Connie; Jeffrey S. Bradley and David M. Bradley and his wife Sonia; 3 granddaughters; Karen Ann, Emma Lynn, and Katelyn Elizabeth; her sister, Carol (Chic) and husband Hal of West Coxsackie, NY;  her nephew, Norris R. Pike, and a grandniece, Keri L. Pike of Glens Falls. 

Services are private.

Richard “Dick” P. Harding

QUEENSBURY – Richard “Dick” P. Harding, 78, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Monday morning, September 6, 2021.

Born on October 28, 1942, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Carl Harding and Helen Breen.

Dick married Janet (Boyea) Harding on November 6, 1965 in Witherbee, New York.

Dick enjoyed his time fishing and hunting.  He loved to go to Stewarts to enjoy himself a cup of coffee every day.   He was a huge football and baseball fan.   Especially for the Redskins and the Red Sox.  Dick enjoyed spending time with his children.  He especially loved sharing his life with his grandkids and great grandkids.   They meant the world to him.

Dick was predeceased by his parents and his six sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Harding; his children, Theresa Harding of Glens Falls, Pamela (Kim) Harding-Joiner of Hadley, Patricia (Tracey) Yongen of Argyle and Richard (Sabrina) Harding, Jr. of Queensbury; his ten grandkids; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow the calling hours at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Riley C. Green

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Riley C. Green, 22, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Born on November 3, 1998, in Decatur, AL, he was the beloved son of Brian and Lisa Green.

Riley grew up in South Glens Falls and was a 2016 graduate of South Glens Falls High School.  He lived a creative and authentic life and his passions knew no bounds.  Riley was a talented musician, avid skateboarder, amateur carpenter and mechanic and an ever-curious observer who pursued whatever skills or projects piqued his interests.

Riley looked forward to the family’s annual visit to Walt Disney World.  He cared so much about the time with his family and it was one of the many highlights of his life.  Riley lived with integrity, caring deeply about a community and those around him.  Anyone who met Riley knew how generous he was with his affection and care and his kindness radiated out to all who were fortunate enough to enter his orbit.

He is predeceased by his adored grandfather, John LaCarte, Sr.

In addition to his loving parents, Riley leaves behind his sister, Rebekah “Beki” and her partner, Nate; his nieces, Kira and Ella; and nephew, Levi; his doting grandmother, Phyllis LaCarte; his aunts and uncles, Lynn and Chris, Johnny and Dawn, Laura and David; his cousins, Brittany and her husband Carl, Nicole and her partner, Josh and Brooke and her partner, Matt, Jesse and his partner, Kayla and Jacob; his grandmother, Dianne Abrahamson; his aunts and uncles, Brent, Pauli and Brenetta; his birth mother, Parthina; his brother, Mitchell; his niece and nephew, Melody and James; as well as several aunts and uncles.

A graveside service will be conducted, 11 a.m., on Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Nancy Ann (Fuller) LaLonde Harrington

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Nancy Ann (Fuller) LaLonde Harrington, 79, of South Glens Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday September 4, 2021, at the Gateway House of Peace in Ballston Spa.

Born on February 23, 1942 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Morey and Mary (Volpe) Fuller.

Her husband, Jack Casey LaLonde, Sr., died October 2, 1997, after 39 wonderful years of marriage.  She was blessed to have shared her life with Gary Harrington for ten years, before he passed away in 2012.

Nancy and her family resided in Glens Falls for many years.  Many fond memories were made at her home, where she raised her son and had many fun times, including cooking wonderful meals for the entire family and hosting parties for family and friends.

She enjoyed rides to Burlington, swimming in her pool and afternoon picnics at Stewarts Pond. 

Nancy was known for being an excellent dancer who passed on her talent by teaching her family how to jitterbug.  In her later years she enjoyed trying her luck at the Racino and always walked away having a good time win or lose.

Nancy will be remembered for being a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews.  Her son, Jack was the world to Nancy, as she was to him.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Besides her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her step-father, Robert Guay, her brothers, Benjamin Fuller and Daniel Fuller, her brothers in law, James Skellie and Donald Dufour and her best friend of 61 years, Barb Miller.

Survivors include her son, Jack Casey LaLonde, Jr. of Queensbury; her beloved grandchildren, Casey LaLonde Dent and her husband, Sam of Frome, England, Brandon LaLonde and his wife, Brita of Jeffersonville, VT and Christopher LaLonde of South Glens Falls; her three grandchildren, Ava, Hazel and Scarlett; her four sisters, Jessie Dufour of Queensbury, Connie LaLonde and her husband, Robert, of Fort Ann, Carol Skellie and her partner, Gary Nolin of Queensbury and Bonnie Fuller of Hudson Falls; her brother, Joseph Fuller and his partner, Darlene of Fort Edward; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal, at a later date, will be in Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

The family wishes to thank all of Nancy’s friends, especially Pam Fifield and Stephanie for the love and support given to Nancy and her family.  Nancy was blessed to have spent her last days at The Gateway House of Peace, where they took wonderful care of her and her family. Gary Philip Pecor

GLENS FALLS – Gary Philip Pecor, 57, of Glens Falls, passed away on August 31, 2021, due to a motorcycle accident.

Born on October 18, 1963, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Donald and Wilma “Billie Ann” (Hall) Pecor.

Gary was of the Methodist Faith.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1982 and served his country for several years.  Upon returning home, from the military, he became a carpenter by trade.   Gary could build anything.

Gary enjoyed playing golf with his brother and loved watching NASCAR. 

In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his brother, Donald “Skip” Pecor and his sister, Karen (Pecor) Gorton.

Survivors include his son, Jacob Pecor of Florida and his daughters, Keisha Pecor, also of Florida and Xander Lebrun of Hudson Falls; his sisters, Linda Alakiwskina of Corinth and Cheryl (Pecor) Lemery of VA; his brothers, Randy Pecor and his wife, Sheila of Hudson Falls and Chris McLaren and his mother, Linda McLaren of Lake Luzerne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be announced at a later date.
