HUDSON FALLS – Thomas E. O’Leary, Jr., 63, of Hudson Falls, passed away on September 15, 2024.

Born on August 1, 1961, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Thomas O’Leary, Sr. and Nancy (McLaughlin) O’Leary.

Tom attended Lake George High School, and upon graduation, he attended and graduated from Westminster College in Utah.

In 1996, he married Wendy (Woodruff) Chakalis in Hudson Falls.

Tom proudly worked for over 31 years as a Registered Nurse at the Glens Falls Hospital.

He was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy O’Leary; his daughter, Keara O’Leary; his son, Guy (Jennie) Chakalis; his grandson, Hunter Chakalis; his aunt Mary Warfel; his sister, Tammy Bottiger and her husband, Howard; and his nephew and several cousins.

Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.

FORT ANN – James T. Lewis, 75, of Fort Ann, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Born under a full moon on December 18, 1948, Jim was the son of the late Walter B. and Agnes C. (Hall) Lewis.

Jim attended Hudson Falls High School. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1969.

While stationed in Germany, Jim met and fell in love with his future wife of 55 years, Heidemarie Glas. The two were married on March 24, 1969, in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany. Jim and Heidi moved to Fort Edward, eventually building their dream home in Fort Ann.

Uncertain of what he would do for employment, Jim’s mother suggested he apply at General Electric, beginning his thirty-five-year employment. While working the night shift at GE, Jim drove school buses during the day for Hudson Falls and Fort Ann school districts. Jim retired from GE in 2006. He continued to work driving commercial vehicles for various employers throughout Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties.

In his younger days Jim loved spending time at the family camp near Hadlock Pond with his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim participated in many activities, such as cycling, electronics, motorcycling and product research. However, his favorite pastimes always included his sons’ interests. As the librarian of the Adirondack Commodore User’s Group, Jim spent countless hours cataloging software. As the boys grew older, those interests expanded to roller skating, video games, filming and starring in video skits, snowmobiling, paintball and lawn games. Possibly his favorite hobby was spending beautiful summer days playing golf with family and friends on the 12-hole course he built on their property. Jim enjoyed friendly competition, and he never hesitated to offer a wager on each round. Jim was also an avid World Cup soccer fan and loved watching the Jets and the Mets, yet his favorite sporting events always included those in which his children and grandchildren participated.

In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his sisters, Patricia (Richard) McKinney, and Maryellen Crevison, and his brothers, John (Patricia Chadwick) Lewis and Joseph Lewis. Jim is also predeceased by his sister-in-law, Johannah (Dieter) Mayrhörmann and brother-in-law Günther (Hilde) Zimmermann, both of Germany.

Survivors include his loving wife, Heidemarie Lewis of Fort Ann; his sons, Frank (Kim) Lewis of Tennessee, Mark Lewis of Fort Ann, Jonathan (Kim) Lewis of Queensbury, and Luke (Samantha Elinson) Lewis of Vermont; his grandchildren, Emily Lewis, Jarod Lewis, Calvin Lewis, and Hannah Lewis; his brother, Jeffrey Lewis of Massachusetts; his brother-in-law, Jerold Crevison of Fort Ann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Per Jim’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Jim will be laid to rest at 12 pm on Friday, September 20, 2024, with full Military Honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, New York.

Family and friends are invited to a reception following the funeral ceremony at 4 pm at Jim and Heidi’s, 4221 State Route 4, Hudson Falls, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 85 George St, Fort Ann, NY 12827; Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org); or to a charity of one’s choice.

HUDSON FALLS – Alice W. (Silva) Bentley, 94, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Haynes House of Hope in Granville, following a short illness.

Born May 28, 1930, in Boston Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ada (Crosby) Silva.

Alice grew up in the Albany area and attended the Hackett School of Albany. She spent many years working for the New York State Education Department. Alice retired after dedicating thirty years to NYS. In 2016, Alice moved to Hudson Falls to be closer to her family.

She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and word searches. She loved to read and was a dedicated reader of James Patterson novels. Alice also loved watching western movies, especially if the main actor was John Wayne. She adored “The Duke”. Alice found great comfort in spending time at home caring for her cats. She never met a stray cat she didn’t adopt. Alice also cherished the times she was able to spend with her family.

In addition to her parents, Alice is predeceased by her sister Irene Silva, her brothers, Harry Silva and Frankie Silva, and her granddaughter, Christine Bentley.

Survivors include her loving son, Elwin “Ed” (Kathy) Bentley, her loving grandson, Scott (Jennifer) Bentley, and her great grandsons Scottie (Samantha), Aiden, and Brody Bentley.

Alice’s family would like to thank the nurses of High Peaks Hospice and the staff at the Haynes House of Hope.

At Alice’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the Bentley family.

HUDSON FALLS – William T. “Pete” McCormick, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 33 years, Sharon, and family.

Born on July 14, 1939, in Poughkeepsie New York, he was the son of the late William and Luise (Gros) McCormick, Sr.

Pete was a 1957 graduate of Glens Falls High School, where he was a standout football player. He went on to attend Norwich University and began a successful career at Sears, Roebuck and Co., where he worked for 37 years before his retirement in 1993. In 2007, Pete was inducted into the first class of the Glens Falls High School Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the undefeated 1955 Glens Falls football team.

An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Pete loved hunting, fishing, canoeing, and snowmobiling with family and close friends. Some of his greatest memories were the times spent at Salmon and Hadlock Ponds. He enjoyed exploring new places with his camper on weekend getaways to the Adirondacks, and relaxing on the sandy shores of Ogunquit, Maine.

When he wasn’t in the woods, on the water, or near the ocean, Pete could be found in the backyard tending to his beautiful one-of-a-kind koi pond, bird feeders, and vegetable garden. Pete was a great baker and especially known for the many homemade pies he brought to family gatherings. His favorite meal was breakfast, and his family will forever miss the signature bacon he piled high on Christmas morning.

In his later years, Pete enjoyed spending time with dear friends and family sharing stories and reminiscing about days gone by. A true sports fan, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren throughout their many sporting and extracurricular activities. He was a loyal follower of the New York Giants and Yankees. He could often be found cheering on his teams while settling in for his favorite time of day, which was happy hour. Whether it was with family, friends, or a glass of Clan MacGregor, Pete’s feisty spirit and good humor were brightest during these special times.

Pete is predeceased by his parents, William and Luise McCormick, Sr., his sister, Claire McCormick, first wife, Evelyn George; and his daughter, Nancy Morrissey.

Survivors include: his beloved wife, Sharon McCormick; his daughters, Connie(Reid) Lewis and Judi (Paul) Stento; his son, Bill (Lauren) McCormick; son-in-law, Dave Morrissey; stepson, Rick (Lisa) Bancroft, and stepdaughter, Janet (Roger) Ahrens. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Jessica (Taylor) and Allyce Morrissey, Emily, Lindsey and Matthew Stento, Mia McCormick, Ashley (Dillon) Barbeito, Kayla Bancroft, Zachary (Claire), Elizabeth, and Josh Ahrens; his 3 great grandchildren, Cooper and Camille Barbeito, and Lake Morrissey.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Mihindu and all the staff at the Renal Dialysis Center, as well as Dr. Christopher Mason at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center in Glens Falls for their exemplary care.

A private viewing will take place at the convenience of the family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Church of St. Mary’s – St. Paul’s, 11 Wall Street in Hudson Falls.

Rite of Committal will take place immediately following the funeral mass at Pine View Cemetery, 21 Quaker Road, in the Town of Queensbury.

QUEENSBURY – Daniel J. “Shamu” Mickel, Jr., 37, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Born on June 9, 1987 in Glens Falls, Daniel was the son of Virginia A. and Daniel J. Mickel, Sr. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Schuylerville High School in 2005. Daniel was very capable and knowledgeable when it came to carpentry and mechanics and worked for himself fixing things for local people and performing other handyman tasks.

In his free time, he loved to ride motorcycles, four wheelers, and snowmobiles. Daniel loved his daughter Laci with all of his heart, she was his world. He was always smiling when she was with him and talked about her constantly to anyone who would listen. He also loved being outdoors in nature any chance he got as well as taking spontaneous road trips just because it sounded like fun. If you ever needed help, no matter what it was, he would be the first to offer a hand. He brought smiles and endless laughs to everyone around him with his witty words and wild antics.

Daniel is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Linda Brown; his paternal grandparents, Eileen and Richard Mickel; and two aunts, Rena Brown and Rosie Burch.

Daniel is survived by a daughter, Laci Mickel of Fort Edward; his parents, Virginia and Daniel Mickel, Sr. of Fort Edward; sisters, Nicole (Peter) Carolan of Hudson Falls and Leah Mickel of Fort Edward; and his nieces and nephews, Mila and Liam Carolan, and Ryder and Ryleigh Cowles. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A graveside service will follow at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward.

Theresa Rousseau (Hayes) Henderson, 93, of Hudson Falls and Vonore, TN., opened her eyes in the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 25, 2024.  She was born October 11, 1930, to the late Howard and Bertha (LaValley) Rousseau Sr.

Theresa worked at General Electric for many years until she had to retire.  She spent many years after that caring for others as a personal home health aide.  She was active in and proud to be a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.   She was an avid doll collector and she enjoyed crafting for many years.  She enjoyed making bed-dolls, ceramics, ornaments and recently making wreaths for many family members and friends to enjoy.  She looked forward to attending church services at New Life Baptist Church in Hudson Falls and loved always being on the go and meeting new people.

Theresa and her husband were longtime residents of Gansevoort, NY, and snowbirds to West Palm Beach, Florida for 26 years.  Shortly after the passing of her husband she moved to Hudson Falls and became a snowbird to Vonore, TN. 

She was predeceased by her husband Robert “Moose” Henderson; her siblings: Joyce Matraw, Alice Hanmer, Howard Rousseau, Elroy Rousseau, and Richard Rousseau; her former husband, Gordon Hayes Jr.; stepson Johnny Henderson; grandson Jason Cook; and her faithful fur companion, Buffer.

She will be greatly missed by all.  Left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda Williams, Donna (Ken) Cook, Gordon “Chip” (Cheri) Hayes III.; Stepchildren: Tom (Lisa) Henderson, Bobby, Rita and Joanie Henderson.; her grandchildren: Jay (Natalie) Williams, Tammy (Bruce) Williams, David Williams, Meredith (Chris) Morin, Marleise Cook, Justin (Brittany) Hayes, Jake (Kara) Hayes, Kellen and Jaysen Henderson; her former daughter-in-law Anne Winchell; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Thank you for the many memories and lessons you taught us. We will miss you deeply until we meet again.

GLENS FALLS – Mark A. Tardiff, Sr., 51 of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly resulting from an unforeseen illness on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born September 13, 1972, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Donald J. and Cheryl D. (Hastings) Tardiff.

Mark grew up in Lake Luzerne and attended Hadley-Luzerne Central School District. He worked in construction for many years with V&H Construction, Inc., in Fort Edward. Mark also worked at various restaurants throughout Warren and Washington Counties as a line cook. He recently worked at Mikado on Glen Street in Glens Falls.

In his younger days, while his children were growing up, Mark enjoyed taking them fishing.

Mark is predeceased by his parents Donald J. and Cheryl D. (Hastings) Tardiff.

Survivors include his six children, Andrew, Samantha Palazzo, Sarah Tardiff, Mark Tardiff, Jr. of South Glens Falls, William Tardiff of South Glens Falls, and Caleb Tardiff of Plattsburgh. Mark is also survived by his brother, Bill Tardiff and his wife, Tracey of South Glens Falls, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the funeral home.

The burial will take place at the Warrensburg Cemetery, 110 Hudson Street (County Route 9) in Warrensburg on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 1:30 p.m.

HUDSON FALLS – A celebration of life service for Janet Raye Allen, who passed away on February 26, 2024, will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Sandy Hill Arts Center at 214 Main Street in Hudson Falls. Entrance and parking to the Sandy Hill Arts Center is located around the corner on Locust Street.  Selected works of Jan’s art will be on display on the 3^rd floor art gallery starting at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held on the 5^th floor starting at 3:00 PM. The gallery will remain open and accessible throughout the afternoon. An elevator provides access to all floor levels. Refreshments and light fare will be served throughout the afternoon with the event ending at 6:00 pm.

Please do not send flowers. Donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital as a memorial to Jan.

Scott A. Foro of Greenfield Center, NY, passed away on August 14, 2024, at Saratoga Hospital after a brave 8 month battle with cancer.  He was 63 years old.

Scott was born in Glens Falls, NY on November 28, 1960, to Louis Foro Sr. (d. 2001) and Joan Prins (d. 2022) and lived much of his early life in Hudson Falls, NY.  He graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1979 and went on to study Fire Science at Cape Cod Community College.

Scott would serve in the Hudson Falls Volunteer Fire Department from 1980  to 1991. He was incredibly proud of his service in the fire department, frequently saying “once a firefighter, always a firefighter” long after he left it.  His time in the fire department was so important to him that he purchased Engine 82, a Mack CF pumper, from the Hudson Falls Fire Department in 2013, the year after it was taken out of service.  He would spend hours talking about the history of the truck to anyone who would listen, being sure to recall how he “rode the back bumper on her first call.”

In March of 1983, he met Kimberly Austin on a blind date that was arranged by mutual friends. They married on September 20, 1986. 

He worked various jobs including snow making at West Mountain, night desk clerk at the Queensbury Hotel, maintenance for Frederick Garden Apartments in Saratoga, and the Building Superintendent for the Hudson Falls Village Hall. 

In 1996, Scott and his wife Kimberly opened Whispering Pines Campsites & RV Park in Greenfield Center, NY.  Having been avid campers for many years, Scott would detail their stay at every park, noting how he would do things differently. The park had been closed for 5 years when they found it and it became his opportunity to run a campground the way he had always envisioned. With the help of family and friends, Scott revitalized the property working 18 hour days, transforming it from a run down 70-site campground into a thriving, 112-site RV park. It’s a place that thousands of campers have been able to enjoy for the last 29 years.  Scott’s legacy will continue to be felt in the campground for years to come. Although he can never be replaced, the campground will continue to operate to honor his hard work, dedication, and his vision for the future. 

As much as he loved his life “in the pines,” Scott truly enjoyed spending time at his home in Lehigh Acres, Florida.  Whether it was taking a siesta on the lanai, driving around town in his Mustang convertible, taking his wife to her favorite beach on Sanibel Island, or sipping a cocktail at his favorite tiki bar, it was here that Scott was happiest and the most relaxed.

Scott is survived by his wife of 37 years Kimberly (Austin) Foro of Greenfield Center, NY, his son Jared Foro of Saratoga Springs, NY, his daughter Caroline Foro of Syracuse, NY, a brother-in-law Donald Austin, Jr of San Diego, CA and his wife, Patti, his mother-in-law, Patricia Austin of Saratoga Springs, NY and a very special cousin Kerri Reilly of Queensbury, NY, and her husband, Mike. 

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in Scott’s honor at Whispering Pines Campsites & RV Park in Greenfield Center, NY. sometime in September. His family hopes that his friends, his Whispering Pines family and brothers from the fire service will take part in honoring him. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Scott’s name to the American Cancer Society, the Schenectady Firefighters Cancer Foundation, or your local volunteer fire department.

FORT ANN- Our beloved, Michael Patrick Hamblin, known as Mike, passed away at his home in Fort Ann, surrounded by those most dear to him, the evening of Sunday, August 18th, 2024. Born in Little Falls, NY on November 19th, 1949, to his late parents Francis Harland Hamblin and Catherine Mary (Monahan) Hamblin.

Mike was a 1967 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls, NY. Following high school, he chose to fulfill his American duty and joined the US Army and went on to serve his time in Germany. After serving for three and half years he came back and completed his degree in Applied Science at Adirondack Community College. Kickstarting his 38-year career Mike was owner/operator at Environmental Comfort Systems prior to his employment at Kamyr Industries. And subsequently, with the NYS DOCCS, as a plant superintendent B where he retired from Great Meadow Correctional Facility, after 17 years.

In 1973 Mike first met Carol at ACC. He loved to tell the story of when he first laid eyes on her. As she was coming down the stairs into the student center, in his words  “she was incredibly beautiful in her pink hat” and thought “how wonderful of a girl she must be”. They were married two years later, on August 17th, 1975. Mike was completely devoted to his best friend, Carol Hamblin for the past 49 years during which they welcomed four children and nine grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carol E. Hamblin [Owens]; siblings, Francis W. Hamblin (Celia), John V. Hamblin (Patti) and Karen C. Barrett; his four children, Elizabeth C. (Michael) Dean, Francis H. Hamblin, Shanna L. (Mario) Nicoletti, Christine M. (Cody) McNorton and nine grandchildren, Heath L. Dean, Carolyn R. Dean, Lorenzo Nicoletti, Bradley J. Dean, Troy A. LaValley-McNorton, Charlotte E. Dean, Giada G. Nicoletti, Carrington A. McNorton, Adeline M. McNorton as well as their adored fur-daughter English Shepherd, Sally Hamblin.

In addition to his parents, Catherine M. (Monahan) and Francis H. Hamblin, Mike was predeceased by his brother Brian J. Hamblin as well as infant sister.

Mike enjoyed many things such as playing his guitar, both solo and in bands, sharing his love for folk, bluegrass and an array of other genres with any and all other music enthusiasts at Grumbellies (Fort Ann). He participated in several local pool leagues such as at Mernies (Fort Ann) and the American Legion (Hudson Falls). The company with which he shared these interests was the most valued to him.

Mike was a great man who was deeply devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was most often described as funny, passionate, clever, patriotic, witty, light-hearted and easy-going. Just an all-around great guy who had such an immense zest for life. He led by example and was a supportive role model and mentor to many. His legacy will forever live on through the countless lives he touched and the lessons he taught us.

Mike/Dad/Uncle Mike/Grandpa/Papa, we will mourn you but, because of the life you chose to live we can celebrate every minute we were able to enjoy with you. Thank you for being the best man any of us could have asked for.

We will see you again.

WHITEHALL – Walter William Lascar, Jr. of Whitehall, passed away at home Saturday evening, August 10, 2024. He was 66.

Born on March 30, 1958 in Ridgewood, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter W. Lascar, Sr. and Carol Beidinger Lascar. Walter grew up in New Jersey and was a graduate of Ridgewood High School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1977 to 1982 as a military policeman stationed in Germany. Walter eventually settled in Oakland and became an active community member. He donated a lot of his time to the Oakland Elks, eventually spending time leading the club. Walter started, owned and managed his locksmith company for over 20 years. He married Astrid Bednarzik on September 28, 2003 and they moved to the Lake George area where Walter was employed as a corrections officer for Washington County. He worked for Washington County for several years and was a member of their SERT Team

Walter was a member of the Caldwell Presbyterian Church in Lake George and sang in the choir there. He loved food and the outdoors and enjoyed kayaking and spending time in the Adirondacks. He and Astrid would often go for motorcycle rides and they loved spending time with their animals which included horses, pygmy goats, and of course their Great Danes. Most of all, he LOVED spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Walter is predeceased by a brother-in-law, Bill Ace.

He is survived by his wife of almost 21 years, Astrid Bednarzik of Whitehall; his children, Robert Lascar (Shannon) of Oakland, NJ, Tammy Lascar (Katy Mills) of Toms River, NJ, Richie Lascar of Oakland, NJ, and Rachael Musial (Brynen Sosa) of Vernon, NJ; his grandchildren, Lorelai, Morrigan, and Ryder; his sisters and brother, Cindy Ace, Jeff Lascar (Reba), and Tiffany Marfoglia (Arnold); and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

Queensbury – Robert Hogan, 87, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at The Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs, NY, following a brief illness.

Born February 7, 1937, in Fort Edward, NY, he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine (Cruickshank) Hogan. Raised on Hogan’s Dairy Farm in Hudson Falls, he was lucky #12 of a baker’s dozen. Bobby was the youngest of eight consecutive boys and had the privilege of not only being raised by a mother, but also three older, strong-willed, and ‘opinionated’ sisters. The youngest of the Hogan’s Dairy boys, Bob learned the value of hard work at a young age, as well as the advantages of being the ‘baby’.

Bob graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1954 where he was affectionately known as ‘the kid from the creek,’ and demonstrated his leadership skills early as the president of the student council. Frustrated with Bob’s college selection, a local priest drove him to Villanova University for same-day admission, which resulted in a degree in mechanical engineering. He earned excellent grades while at Villanova by his hard work in the classroom, or possibly by putting his farm muscles to work cutting firewood on the weekends for his professors.

Upon graduation, Bob began work at Philadelphia Gas & Electric. He started his illustrious career with International Paper in Corinth, NY in 1963. After a long and loyal career filled with multiple relocations across the Northeast and ending in Lewisburg, PA in 1997, Bob and Colleen returned ‘home’ to Queensbury to be close to extended family, as well as their friends. Never one to sit still or actually ‘retire,’ Bob devoted years of service to the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls, and was recognized as Kiwanian of the Year in 1999.

After his beloved Colleen passed away in 1999, Bob continued to take pride in hosting his children and grandchildren for the holidays with hand-sewn stockings for each grandchild adorning the mantle, homemade pies and coffee cake, lottery tickets for all, and late-night poker games, patiently teaching his grandchildren how to play. In addition to his impressive baking skills, he was very adept at repairing things and remodeling the several homes in which he and his family lived. Bob was able to utilize his talents to help others and to pass along those skills to his children.

In addition to his parents and in-laws, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Colleen (O’Neil) Hogan on March 4, 1999, and his siblings, Dalton, Catherine, Christian, Mary Jean, Frank, James (Jim), John (Jack), Richard (Dick), Leonard, Maxwell Patrick (Pat), and Judith.

Bob is survived by his daughter Christine (Bob) LeMoine of Rochester, NY; son Stephen (Karen) Hogan of Wilmington, DE; son Bruce (Mary) Hogan of Turner, ME; son Joseph (Julie) Hogan of Herndon, VA; and daughter Megan (Andy) Lustig of Great Falls, VA. He is also survived by many grandchildren: Brian, Rachel, and Patrick LeMoine; Katy and Steven Hogan; Brianna (Sam) Hogan Medvene, Kaila, Jenna, and Colin Hogan; Luke, Haley, and Faith Lustig; as well as his brother Roger Hogan of Hudson Falls; sister-in laws Betty Hogan of Hudson Falls, Joan Hogan of Auburn, NY, Eloise O’Neil of Queensbury; brother-in-law Jim Kane of Fort Edward; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, including his friend Myrna Tabor.

The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful nurses, doctors, aides, and therapists who took excellent care of Bob at Glens Falls Hospital 2nd floor, The Wesley Community Hathorn 2, and St. Peter’s Hospice. They also extend their deepest appreciation to their extended family and friends for all the love, kindness, and care given to their father over these past few months.

Throughout his life, Bob was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glens Falls, where he and Colleen were married. Bob was an avid supporter of Saint Mary’s-St. Alphonsus Regional Catholic School in Glens Falls, NY. Memorial donations, in Bob’s name, may be made to the school located at 10-12 Church St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 23rd, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main St., Hudson Falls, NY.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, August 24th, at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 62 Warren St., Glens Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

FORT ANN – Merrilee F. (Shaw) Howard, 75, of Fort Ann, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Albany Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

Born January 19, 1949, Merrilee was the daughter of the late Edward Shaw and Dorothy Deihl.

Merrilee was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. During her senior year of high school, she was employed at Glens Falls Hospital, working in the finance department.

After leaving Glens Falls Hospital, she began working at NAMIC in Glens Falls. Merrilee stayed with the company as the business changed over to Pfizer, Boston Scientific, Navilyst Medical, and finally Angio Dynamics. She retired in 2014 after 38 years of dedicated service.

Merrilee married Frank Howard at the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls on April 17, 1998, and spent the next 26 years together.

She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls. She enjoyed managing the thrift store at the church. Merrilee took great pride in giving back to the community.

Merrilee was a die-hard BINGO participant. She knew where all the great places were in Washington and Warren Counties to play BINGO. Merrilee loved the ocean. Every second weekend in September, she could be found in York, Maine. She also loved taking trips to Florida so she could spend time with her family who reside in the Sunshine State.

When she wasn’t always on the go driving fifty miles a day in her car, Merrilee would spend time cooking and baking. She loved reading books written by Nora Roberts and Catherine Coulter. She also enjoyed reading the Percy Jackson series. At times Merrilee could be found competing in a game of Connect Four.

Most of all, family and GOD were her world. The worst day for Merrilee’s family was the greatest of all days for her.

 In addition to her parents, Merrilee was predeceased by her sisters, Janice Jacobson, Margaret Madison, and Kathy Bosley.

Merrilee is survived by her husband of 26 years, Frank Howard; her children, Lester Wood, Jr., Lori (Jefferson) Zapete, and Kim (Aaron) Harrington; Frank’s son’s, Frank (Rachel) Howard, Jr., Andrew (Candice) Howard, Mike Howard, and John Woodard. She is also survived by her grandchildren LJ, Salena, Julianna, Brenden, Hollie, Henry, Abram, Elijah, Fiona, Emma, and Natalie; her great grandchildren, Edward and Lola; and several nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 11 a.m., 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville.
