HUDSON FALLS – Patricia W. Hassett, 90, a longtime Notre Dame St. resident, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 8, 2022 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on January 25, 1932, in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Marion (Bottoms) Winters.

She was a graduate of West Chester, PA High School and attended Vermont Junior College in Montpelier, VT.

On January 24, 1953, she married Don G. Hassett in West Chester, PA.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson Falls, and a past member of the Kiwanis Club and The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Glens Falls. Patricia was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Breakfast Group as well.

She enjoyed time she spent with her family and was active in the Hudson Falls community. The Hassett Memorial Day parties were well known in the neighborhood.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Donald G. Hassett, who passed away November 15, 2020.

Survivors include her children, Debra Cirino and her husband, Bill of Hartford, Linda Muller and her husband, Mark of Ravena, Dale Hassett and his wife, Jeanne of Delmar and Sandra Peters and her husband, John of Orlando, FL; their grandchildren, Bethany Cirino, Christopher Rees, Patricia Rees, Molly Hassett, Morgan Peters, Kyle Peters and Kurt Peters and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery on Duell Rd in Schuylerville.

HUDSON FALLS – Yvonne Theresa Charon Griffin, 92 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 5, 2022.

Born August 17, 1929 in Beaver Falls, PA, Yvonne was the youngest child of Amil and Mary (Mayou) Charon.

She was a 1948 graduate of St. Peters High School in Saratoga Springs.  Yvonne met the love of her life William T. Griffin and they married and moved to Hudson Falls where they raised their three children in the house they built together. 

Yvonne worked in various administrative jobs, but her true passions were homemaking and the caregiving of others. She truly loved sharing her culinary delights with all who entered her home. There was an open-door policy, all were welcome. She loved animals especially dogs and horses. 

Yvonne was very creative and talented. She was an excellent seamstress and had a French weaving business while raising her children. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture, restoring its beauty and functionality. Yvonne was a very independent person.

She was very active in the Catholic Church, teaching Catechism, and was involved in the renewal. Yvonne’s strong, unshakable faith sustained her throughout her entire life. 

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her husband, William T. Griffin, who passed away in 1985.

Yvonne is survived by her children, Thomas Griffin (Joannie), Marty Griffin (Pete Shortell), and Barbara Griffin-Jordan (Michael); 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Dube, Sarah Miner, Luke Griffin, and Alicia Bevan; 6 great-grandchildren, Desteny Dube, Camryn and Jacob Miner, Logan and Aiden Bevan and Isaac Griffin; 3 great, great-granddaughters BellaRose, Auroroa and Zaylah.

A funeral service will be conducted, 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls with the Reverend David Noone, a longtime family friend, officiating.

Friends may call on Monday evening from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, following the services.

Rite of Committal will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mihindu, the staff at Fort Hudson Day Program and the staff at McCann’s Pharmacy. A very heartfelt thanks to the team of caregivers who helped us keep her in her beloved home; Sherry, Rodonna, Vivian, Lynn, Colleen, and Joannie, as well as friends and neighbors; Judy, Susan, and John Wells.

HUDSON FALLS – Tiffany L. (Nash) Ross, 40, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer, on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Albany Medical Center.

Tiffany attended Hudson Falls High School and then went on to receive her PCA Certificate through Fort Hudson Nursing Home, where she continued her career as a PCA.  She really enjoyed working in the nursing field.

On December 27,  2017, Tiffany married John Ross, III in her mother’s home, officiated by her sister, Tamika and surrounded by family.

Family was Tiffany’s world.  She was a great mother, who took wonderful care of her autistic son, Charles.  Tiffany was very social and always loved having company, especially family.  She also enjoyed the outdoors, where she spent a lot of time camping and fishing.

Tiffany was also a very talented crafter who turned her extra bedroom into a craft room.  She helped her son start his own business making personalized stickers.  Tiffany also enjoyed teaching her nieces how to crochet.

Tiffany was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Leon Nash, her step grandfather, Raymond Young, her aunt, Brandy Nash and her cousin, Ashley Nash.

Tiffany is survived by her mother, Cassie Nash; her husband, John Ross, III; two sons, Charles Nash and Joe Charland; her step-son, Andrew Ross; her grandmother, Gloria Young; her two sisters, Tamika Casey and Kelliann (Cody) Rogers; her nieces and nephews, Hailie and Kassandra Casey, Rebecca Charland, Maddison Baker and Dakota Nash; her two uncles, Leon (Tammy) Nash, II and Ervin (Billie) Nash; and her best friend, who was like a sister to her, Melissa (William) Beadleson; her brother in laws, Robert Ross, Larry Ross, George (Heather) Siacca; and her sisters in law, Mickie Alexander and Sharla (Ron) Szymaszek.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

HUDSON FALLS – Ronald “Ron” Douglas Ovitt, 67, of Hudson Falls, died on Friday, March 18, 2022, after a short illness.

Born on August 7, 1954, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Dorothy and Warren Ovitt.

Ron attended South Glens Falls High School.  Following high school, he put his cooking talents to work.   Ron was an excellent cook who used his expertise at Massie’s restaurant for several years.  On his off time, Ron enjoyed spending time with his friends, fishing in area streams and hoping for a win on his scratch off tickets.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Stanley Walsh, Shirley Harris, Pete Walsh and David Ovitt.

Survivors include his siblings, Mickey Hopkins, Milford Ovitt, Mary Jacox and Joan Mumblo; several nieces, nephews and many friends, whom he thought of as family.

Services will be private.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.

QUEENSBURY – John Edward “Chico” Tyminski, Jr., 75, passed away quietly at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Born on January 21,1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John E. and Beverly (Gibson) Tyminski, Sr.

Following his 1966 graduation from Queensbury High School, Chico was drafted into the U.S. Army.    He was honored to have served his country in the active Army and after his discharge, in the National Guard Reserves.

When his military time was over, Chico began working for Decora and later, retired from Umicore on Pruyn’s Island.

He was a private man who loved his candy and surrounding himself with nature.  Chico could be found throwing a line in the water to catch fish or riding his motorcycle down the road with the wind blowing past his bike.   He also enjoyed trying his luck at OTB and scratch offs. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Tyminski and the mother of his children, Denise M. O’Leary.

Survivors include his children, his son, John E. Tyminski, III and his (significant other, Katie Kuba) and his daughter, Melynda Wells; his grandchildren, Joseph J. Jordon, Necole Jordon, Kolbey Tyminski, Kolyn Tyminski, Kaylee Tyminski and Samantha Tyminski; three great grandchildren; his sister, Joan Ramsey and her husband, Joe; his sister in law, Marsha Tyminski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 6^th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

GALWAY – Kendra Curtis, 61, of Galway, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed peacefully in the afternoon of Saturday, March 26th, 2022.

Born August 7th of 1960 in Granville, Kendra lost her father at a young age, and grew up with her mother and her three sisters on their family dairy farm in North Hebron.

She met the love of her life Jay in college, at the Adirondack Balloon Festival and was able to enjoy building a life with him for over 40 wonderful years.

Kendra believed that family, faith, and caring for lost and homeless animals were the source of life’s joy. She truly lived a life of servitude, providing a kind and generous hand to anyone in need. Kendra will fondly be remembered by those who loved her dearly as a radiant of love, laughter, and kindness.

Kendra is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Janice Burch, and her brother-in-law, Roger Mason.

Kendra leaves behind her loving husband, Jay Curtis; her children, Christopher Curtis (Norby) and Kylie Holland (Andrew), her sweet grandchildren also known as her “munchkins”, Jensen and Liam Holland, and her sisters, Kathy Mason, Kim Meade (Charles), Kristy Maille (Stephen), as well as many other friends and family that will miss her so very much.

FORT EDWARD – Sylvester F. Rabine Sr. “Sly” 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones, Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2022.

Born on June 13, 1935 in Fort Edward, he lived there all of his life and was the son of the late Delmar and Pauline (LaPoint) Rabine.

Sly worked for many years at Decora Manufacturing in Fort Edward and retired from there. He was a gentleman farmer, raising goats, chickens, horses, cows etc.

He enjoyed horses and tending to all the other animals on his farm. Sly enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones as well as his animals. Anybody that knew Sly knew he loved his Cadillacs as well.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Ann Louise Rabine, who passed away on August 2,1998; and 12 of his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his children, Sylvester Rabine, Jr. and his wife, Lori, Nancy Marie Rabine, Lawrence Richard Rabine and his wife, Doreen, and Patrick Delmar Rabine and his wife, Stacey all of Fort Edward; a sister, Lorraine Davidson of Hudson Falls; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many other loved ones and friends. 

Thank you for everything you were and for all you did for all of us and for everything you taught us and the time we got to spend with you.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

HUDSON FALLS – Clarence “Bud” Winney, Jr., 41, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, March 25, 2022, surrounded by family and friends, after a short battle with T Cell Lymphoma.

Born on January 23, 1981 in Glens Falls, he lived in Hudson Falls all of his life and was the son of Clarence and Nancy Winney.

Bud was employed for 25 years at Ye Ole Fort Diner in Fort Edward where he was a cook. His greatest gift was being a father, not only to his kids, but to his wife’s children too. Bud will always be remembered for his contagious laughter, his smile, and his kind heart. He will be missed by all.

Bud is survived by his wife, Amber Alden Winney; his two children, Dylan and Taylor Winney; two stepchildren, John Rockenstire and Jacob Hurlburt; his sister, Clara LaPlant (Matt); a half-brother, William Poette; two beautiful nieces, Aubrey Habshi and Haley LaPlant, Mariah and Janessa Poette, Alexa Mead, Bella and Scarlett Alden, and Layla Northup; his nephews, Austin Mead and Bentley Northup; mother in law and father in law, Eric and Robin Alden; a sister in law, Ashley Mead (Casey); brothers in law, Erick Alden (Nena) and Shane Alden (Kelly)several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his best friend, Timmy and Craig Borden who he loved so much.

GLENS FALLS – Daniel George Lewis, 46 – We are heart broken and devastated that the Lord called our Dan on Saturday, March19, 2022, to come and be with his dad, George Lewis and brother, Dick Lewis, his niece, Julie Hanlon and his nephew, Bobby Labshere and several cousins, aunts, uncles and all his friends, who have passed away.

Dan worked in many local restaurants as a great chef but, his passion was playing the guitar.  He was an accomplished musician.  Starting at a young age, he enjoyed playing in local bands.   Dan was a very well-respected musician and he always felt that his colleagues and friends in the music industry, were his second family.

Although he loved music, he always felt his greatest achievement in life, was the family that he and Michele “Squeak” created.  Dan was so proud and simply adored his three children.   He was a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother and a good friend to many.  He was always there to help anyone he could, even if meant he had nothing for himself.  Dan’s life ended to quickly and he will be missed by the many people he touched. 

Left to cherish his memories include his wife, Michele “Squeak” Lewis; his three children, Opal (8), Orion (5) and Odin (3); his mother, Jean Lewis Bartlett; his stepfather, Philip Bartlett; his two sisters, Patty Reynolds (Rick) and Mary Drenth (Aike); his brother, Don Blakeman, who is really his nephew, with only one year apart in age.  They were truly brothers, always together, no matter what; his other brothers, Michael Lewis and Bob Lewis; his nieces and nephews, Jackie Anderson, Kelly Alexander (Josh), Sara  Labshere (Nick), Andrew Lewis (Sacha), Kate Fisher (Kevin), Andrew Cartier; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Dan’s family wishes to thank the entire family and friends for their heartfelt condolences.  It means so much to them and will never be forgotten.

HUDSON FALLS – David Steele, 69, of Martindale Terrace, passed away at his home on March 18, 2022.

Born January 6, 1953, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late George and Marion (Ellis) Steele.

David had a passion for music.  He loved any and all music and had an extensive record and CD collection to show.  Some of his favorites were the Beatles and Elvis Presley.  David also enjoyed fishing.  He would frequently go out with his good friends, Jim and Michelle, and fish wherever they took the boat.  David will be remembered as an avid storyteller, who loved to talk.  His stories will be missed.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brothers, Phillip and Raymond Ormsby.

Survivors include his siblings, Mark Steele and his wife, Suzan of Fort Edward, Timothy Bennett and his wife, Kim of Glens Falls, Carol Harrington of Fort Ann, Mabel Walker of Lake Luzerne, Vicki Healy of South Glens Falls, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SARATOGA SPRING – Sean M Kelleher sadly lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday March 15^th.

Born January 10, 1969, to the late Sharon Kill and Joseph Dennis Kelleher in Glens Falls.

Sean, being the over achiever that he was, attended Big Cross Elementary school. He was the recipient of awards, responsibility and civic honor. He attended HVCC in hopes to become a CASAC. He had a passion for writing and in travel. He was 4 states shy of visiting all 50 states.

In Sean’s own words “I am not Kerovak, nor Thereaux, not even Alexander Supertramp, but I am on the road, living deliberately and going into the wild. I know not what lies ahead”.

Sean was such an inspiration to so many people that he met on his journey. His smile would light up a room his laugh was contagious. He was a kind soul.

You were able to get 200 people in the community to look past their own personal indifference about recovery and commit to seeing “The Anonymous People” This is where it all began.

Your ideas and dedication to RAIS (Recovery Advocacy In Saratoga) and Healing Springs has inspired and facilitated thousands on their journey to recovery.  You put in to motion a place where anyone can come in and not be ashamed of whatever it is they are struggling with, this has helped hundreds of people and has saved many lives. You are an encouragement to all of us.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Francis Kelleher

Sean is survived by his sister-in-law; Tammy Corbett and nephew Ryan Kelleher; his brother’s, Daniel Kelleher and nieces, Heather Kelleher and Lauren Kelleher, nephew Daniel Kelleher ll of Glens Falls, Margaret Howard (Kelleher), niece Caitlin Anderson, nephew Donald Howard of Hudson Falls, Patrick James Kelleher, niece’s Alyssa and Sarah of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and numerous friends considered family.

HUDSON FALLS – Elaine Marie (Evans) Hoffer, 73,  of Hudson Falls, passed away Thursday morning, March 17, 2022 at home with her family by her side.

Born on August 28, 1948 in Glens Falls, She grew up in Hudson Falls and was the daughter of the late Hiram Robert and Elizabeth Beatrice (Meron) Evans.

Elaine went to school at St. Mary’s School and attended Hudson Falls High School. She married the late Robert E. Hoffer, Jr. and they were together for over 40 years until his passing on March 31, 2007. Elaine enjoyed working as a bartender at many local establishments and lending her time as a caregiver to many families in the area.

Elaine took great pride in her flower garden, enjoyed all animals, and loved her dog, Snoopy. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and lived a Christian life, loving her neighbors, giving of herself, and praying for everyone else, no matter what her struggles were. She was an amazing woman and always kept her spirits high throughout her 32-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by a sister, Gloria Jones; a son, William Hoffer; and a stepdaughter, Elissa Gadow.

She is survived by her son, Robert E. Hoffer III (Amy); her stepchildren, Jeffrey Hoffer (Lisa Stone) and Debbie Mosher; her sisters, Joyce McLaughlin and Carol VanKirk; a brother, Robert Evans; Many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Elaine’s caregivers, Stacey Keith, Christine Park, Elizabeth Henry and Carol VanKirk, for the loving care provided to her and the family.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Hudson Falls- Kathy Marie Dudley of Cherry Tree Lane, peacefully passed away on March 16,2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 3, 1966, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Clarence and Joyce Bruno.  Kathy grew up in Hudson Falls with her 5 siblings.  She graduated in 1984, from Hudson Falls High School.  While in high school Kathy was active in sports including, softball and basketball.  After graduating, Kathy entered the United States Army.  During her enrollment she was able to travel and lived in Germany and Alaska.  She received an honorable discharge in 1993 and was very proud of her service.

On September 3, 1994, Kathy married her soulmate Russell Dudley at her parents’ home in Hudson Falls.  Kathy and Russell worked together side by side, sometimes working every day to support their family.  Kathy was strong mentally and physically, which is how she was able to fight so hard against cancer.

Kathy touched everyone she met.  She loved big, whether you were blood or not.  Her big smile and loud laugh could light up any room.

One of her biggest loves was her family and family traditions were very important to her.

Her grandsons meant the world to her and she spent almost every weekend with them.

Kathy loved going camping.  Trips to Ausable and Fish Creek were some of her most favorite places.  She loved adventure and was always willing to travel, whether it was to spend the day at the casino or a trip to the ocean.  Kathy loved animals. Her dogs were always very special to her.

She was an amazing cook and baker and loved to feed others.  She was also a bargain shopper and was always the best dressed in any room.

Kathy was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s church of Hudson Falls.  She enjoyed her precious time at Hudson Falls High School, through her career as the athletic director’s secretary.  Her love of Hudson Falls sports and student athletes showed through the years of her coaching cheerleading, involvement with the Hudson Falls Wrestling Booster Club, the Tiger Booster Club and the HFCSD/Kingsbury Recreation.  She truly loved her Hudson Falls community.  One of her favorite quotes was, “the world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.”

She is predeceased by her precious mother, Joyce Marie Bruno and mother-in-law Barbara Lynn Dudley.

Her loving spirit and strength will live on with her husband Russell; her children, oldest son, Joshua and James Dudley, daughter, Cassie Dudley and Sean Murphy, and son, Aaron and Hailey Dudley; and her grandsons Blake Martin, Layne Dudley and Darrian Murphy.   Her father, Clarence Bruno and siblings, Melody (Rick) Viele, Cindy (Martin) Turcotte, Darlene (William) Winters, Scott (Beth) Bruno and Todd (Renee) Bruno.  As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A special thank you to April from High Peaks Hospice for all your compassion and care. As she would say, “you truly are an angel on earth”.  Also a big thank you to Kathy’s Army of Angels for the support through her fight.  God bless you all!
