MOREAU & GREENWICH – Eleanor Staats, 93, formerly of
Greenwich and more recently a resident of the Home of The Good Shepherd, passed
away on Friday, April 29, 2022.
Born on January 31, 1929, in Jamaica, Queens, she was the
only child of the late Henry and Thelma (Huested) Peterson.
While living in Queens, she married Edward “Crazy Ed”
Staats on September 21, 1957. Ed passed
away on August 30, 2021, after 63 years of marriage. They shared a wonderful life together as
soulmates, rarely spending time apart. You
could not speak of Eleanor without mentioning Ed. One of their favorite adventures was traveling
to Florida where they enjoyed the warm sunshine.
While living in New York City, Eleanor worked as a
bookkeeper and later as a teller, at the Bank of Manhattan. After her husband’s retirement from Wall
Street, Eleanor and Ed moved to this area.
While living upstate, they made many wonderful friends and many
warm memories to remember. Eleanor was
blessed with family members and friends who were so kind and always took time
out of their busy lives to care for her and Ed.
The day before Eleanor passed, she said to Dr. Tom, “I went
to heaven, it was beautiful”. God
Bless Eleanor, who is now with her beloved, Ed.
Eleanor will be missed by her brother-in-law, Donald Staats
and his wife, Marge; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially her
nephew, Michael Smith; her longtime friends, Carol O’Kane of Ohio and Dr. Thomas
Quaresima and his wife, Barb of Queensbury; and those that took wonderful care
of Eleanor, Peggy, Shelly and Whitey.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
May 7, 2022 at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street, where she will be laid to
rest next to her husband.

FORT ANN – Gloria J. (Wells) Welch, 65, of Dewey’s Bridge
Road, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the Glens Falls
Hospital.
Born on April 27, 1957 in Orange, NJ, she was the daughter
of the late Louis and Mary (Coburn) Beaumont.
Gloria graduated from high school in New Jersey and soon
after enlisted in the United States Navy.
She was so very proud to have served her country. Following her honorable discharge, Gloria met
and married Frank Wells. He passed away on
August 4, 2014.
Gloria worked for many years at Stewarts Shops in Hartford
and Whitehall. More recently, she was
employed at Cumberland Farms in Fort Ann.
While working at Cumbys, Gloria made many wonderful friends. She cherished her co-workers and those
friendly customers that she served.
In 2016, Gloria lost her son, Paul in a tragic
accident. Paul and Gloria had a close
special relationship, and she was broken when he passed away. Her
current husband, Tom Welch, helped her through this difficult time. They began as friends and as their friendship
grew, they became soulmates. She now had
someone to lean on, laugh with and share her life.
Besides her parents, her husband and her son, Gloria was
predeceased by her sister, Joyce Grace.
Survivors include her loving husband, Thomas Welch of Fort
Ann; Jared Roberts, whom she though of as a son; her nieces and nephews,
Virginia Hughes and her husband, James, Kelsey Grace, Colleen Cole and her
husband, Andrew, Christine Mott and her husband, Tom, Tracey Drange and her
husband Mikal, Anthony O’Neill and his partner, Michelle, Christopher O’Neill
and his wife, Nareeza, Lia Dohery and her husband, Pat, Mark Wells, Jason Wells
and Joe Wells.

GLENS FALLS – John “Griz” Cunningham, 74, of Glens Falls,
passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Slate Valley Health &
Rehabilitation in Granville, after a long illness.
Born on August 12, 1947, in Long Island City, NY, he was
the son of the late Hamilton and Hazel (Karshner) Cunningham.
After graduating high school, John enlisted in the United
States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, where he obtained rank of Petty Officer 1st
Class. During is enlistment John served two tours in Vietnam which he was
incredibly proud of and spoke of often. John finished his military career as a
US Navy Seabee.
On July 2, 1995, he married Valerie Russo at the American
Legion in South Glens Falls.
After working several years, he retired from Native
Textiles in Glens Falls. When he wasn’t
working, Griz enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR, especially,
Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr.
He was a member of the Upstate Model Railroaders and the
Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, where he met many lifelong friends. Griz loved riding his motorcycle, listening
to classic rock, going to garage sales and assembling model cars. He was an avid reader and could make a
beautiful work of art, cross stitching.
Griz loved telling stories about anything and everything. From the moment his mouth opened, you were
hooked and listened intently. He instantly
liked everyone he met and those he met, instantly liked him. Griz could get along with just about
everyone. He was a wonderful husband,
father and grandfather. Griz loved spending
time with his family, his motorcycle brothers and his friends from the Train
Club.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several aunts.
He will be missed by his wife of 27 years, Valerie
Cunningham; his daughter, Cheryl Dupuis and her husband, Jim; his
grandchildren, Mikayla Anderson and Kobi Dupuis; his two dogs, “the girls”,
Misty and Zoey.
A Graveside service
will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Gerald B.H.
Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, in Schuylerville.

HUDSON FALLS – Thomas “Tom” W. Wallace, Jr., 70, of Main
Street, passed away on April 19, 2022 at his home.
Born on February 1, 1952 in Taylor, PA, he was the son of
the late Thomas and Echo (Munion) Wallace, Sr. The family resided in Old Forge,
PA until Tom was 5 years old when the family relocated to Enfield, CT.
Tom graduated from Enfield High School and continued his
studies at the University of Connecticut. After receiving his Bachelors Degree
from UConn, Tom began his career in finance. He was accepted into the Career Training
Program with Continental Insurance Company. Through the years, Tom held various
management positions with Continental, relocating many times within the Northeast
Region of the United States. In 1994, Tom held the position of Territorial
Director, Vice President Northeast Region located in Glens Falls, NY, and when Continental
was taken over by CNA Insurance Company, Tom continued his insurance career,
joining Merchant’s Insurance Group in 1995. He retired from Merchant’s in 2009 as
Assistant Vice President, Manager of the Hudson Valley Region.
Tom always had a soft spot in his heart for UConn Huskies
and watching them play any college basketball team. He also enjoyed getting out on the golf
course and swinging his clubs.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law,
Alex Dubois.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jamie DiLaurenzio and
Stephanie DiLaurenzio, both of Queensbury; two grandchildren, Meghan Burns and
Christopher Burns; his sister, Monica Dubois of Florida; the mom of his
children and first wife, Nancy DiLaurenzio; his former wife, Joanne Wallace;
his step-daughter, Kristen Steinnerd; and many nieces and nephews, including
Jennifer Ruel and Tracey Kane.
Service will be private.

– Terry L. Villmore, 68, of Vaughn Road, passed away Wednesday morning, April
20, 2022 at his home.
Born on
February 25, 1954 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Merrill F. and
Shirley Anne (Bessette) Villmore.
Terry worked
for several years at Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls and enjoyed collecting baseball
cards and working on muscle cars. When he was younger, he raced motorcycles and
snowmobiles and participated in tractor pulls.
In addition
to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Jon Villmore.
He is
survived by his nieces, Kari Villmore of Schenectady and Casey Villmore of
Hudson Falls as well as their families.

HUDSON FALLS – Natalie (Johnson) Simpson died peacefully Friday,
April 22, 2022, at Glens Falls Center. A shining light of the Greatest
Generation, she was born October 29, 1926, in Boston, MA, the daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. Herbert Lester Johnson of Boston, and of Marshfield, MA.
She graduated in 1943 from Brimmer and May School in Chestnut
Hill, MA, and was an alumna of Wellesley College, as well as Boston University
College of Arts and Sciences, and Graduate School. It was at BU that she met
and fell in love with Paul Newhall Goldthwaite, marrying December 17th, 1949.
Paul accepted a position with General Electric in Pittsfield, MA, while Natalie
completed her MA. Once relocated to Lenox, MA, she became Public Information
Director with the Berkshire County Red Cross Chapter. In 1951 they moved to the
Hudson Valley. She became Executive Director of the Warren-Washington County
Red Cross, then Public Relations Director at Glens Falls Hospital, until her
retirement. She still found time to serve a number of area organizations,
including the Zonta Club of Glens Falls, the Glens Falls Club of College Women,
the Glens Falls Civic Club, the Glens Falls Branch of the National Farm and
Garden Association, and the Glens Falls Hospital Guild. Most recently, she
belonged to the Tri-City Wellesley Club, the Claflin Society of Boston
University, and the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church.
As a host, Natalie was in a class of her own. Her poise and
presence were a joy. Guests and visitors were made to feel special, regardless
of age. She was also a consummate caregiver. When Paul was diagnosed with
rheumatoid arthritis, their love and their shared sense of humor buoyed them
through the surgeries and trials, until Paul succumbed to the illness, in
1976. Hemingway wrote, “the world breaks everyone and afterward many are
strong at the broken places”. Natalie’s faith and strength led to a new and
beautiful chapter for her in marriage to Wilbur Frederick Simpson of Hudson
Falls, July 18, 1977. Together they traveled, enjoyed hot air balloon rides,
and shared a profound love of the Adirondack area, their church, the people
they knew here, and friends they made along the way. Leading up to Wilbur’s
passing in 2001, he too was blessed by her bright light, and attentive, loving
care.
Natalie was predeceased by step-daughter Constance
(Simpson) Robinson and husband Charles Robinson, step-son Frederick K. Simpson,
step-daughter Dorothy May (Simpson) Burch, and step-grandson Edward Burch,
USMC. Survivors include Frederick Simpson’s wife Peggy (Day) Simpson of Hudson
Falls, and eight step-grandchildren: Robert J. Robinson and his wife,
AnneMarie, of Freehold, Susan (Simpson) Klos and her husband, Myron, of
Wevertown, Joseph W. Burch and his Significant Other, Debbie Bushey, of
Granville, Betty (Robinson) Iannitelli and her husband, Robert, of Williamstown
MA, Thomas Robinson and his wife, Olivia Morrissette, of Effingham NH, Louise
(Burch) Corey and her husband, James, of Hudson Falls, Linda (Simpson) Abare of
Fort Edward, and Ernest Simpson, of Hudson Falls, as well as many step-great
grandchildren and several step-great-great grandchildren.
Blessings bestowed upon others returned to Natalie in the
last 15 years of her life in the support and devotion of her
step-grandson, Ernest Simpson, and friend, Brenda Collins, of Hudson Falls, as
well as the special care of the Glens Falls Center in Queensbury, in her final
months.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls on a future date.
Interment will be at Moss Street Cemetery in Kingsbury, NY, also
at a later date.

HUDSON FALLS – Nathan J. Tyminski of Hudson Falls, passed
away Friday morning, April 22, 2022.
Born on September 21, 1989 in Glens Falls, he lived in the
area his entire life and was the son of Joseph Tyminski and Nancy (Lasher)
Godbout.
Nate was a 2007 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and
attended Adirondack Community College. He worked at Color-aid in Hudson Falls
for several years.
Nate was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his
friends. He often would attend sporting events with his closest friends,
supporting their children and cheering them on. Nate was an animal lover and
liked to fish and camp and ride his four-wheeler, but most of all, he loved to
spend time with his niece. He loved to create crazy food concoctions that
almost always included cheese and tasted great. He will always be remembered as
having a way about him that made people laugh.
He is predeceased by his uncle, Gerald “Buddy” Lasher; his
maternal grandparents, Gerald and Sharon Lasher; and his paternal grandparents,
Joseph and Ada Tyminiski.
Nate is survived by his parents, Joseph Tyminski of Hudson
Falls and Nancy Godbout (David) of Florida; his brother, Nicholis Tyminski of
Hudson Falls; his sister, Calista Dallas (James) of Florida; his niece, Caliana
Dallas and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

DePalo, 60, of Glens Falls, passed away April 20, 2022, after a courageous
battle with cancer.
She was born in Newark, NY to the late Anthony and Nancy
(Bartle) Pizzirusso.
Cathy was a 1979 graduate of Newark High School and later
graduated from SUNY Oswego. She moved to Glens Falls after college and was
employed at TV Data/Tribune for many years as an editor and accountant.
Cathy enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family
especially the lights of her life, her son Joe and grandson Beau, who provided
much needed joy and inspiration.
She is survived by her devoted and loving boyfriend, Frank
Usher, who was her caregiver for the entirety of her illness; her sons, Joseph
(Mallory) DePalo, Paul (Meghan) Richardson; her siblings, Ann (Hal) Reinhardt,
Mitch (Rebecca) Pizzirusso, Rocco Pizzirusso, Theresa (Gary) Lee; her half
siblings, Joseph DiSanto and Terri (Ron) Smith; her grandchildren, Sadie,
Millie and Beau; two nieces, one nephew, two great-nephews and two
great-nieces.

HUDSON FALLS – Staff Sergeant Allan F. Sutliff, 80, of Dix
Ave. was assigned to his final deployment on Friday morning, April 22, 2022.
Born on March 6, 1942 in Hudson Falls, he was a life-long
resident and son of the late Frank and Helen (Dennison) Sutliff. Al attended
Fort Ann High School. He married Millie Baker on Sept.14, 1962 and they enjoyed
almost 60 years of marriage together.
Al was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany and in many stations
stateside, including West Point. After being
honorably discharged from active duty, he enlisted in the New York Army
National Guard and served until his retirement in 2002, retiring with the rank
of Staff Sergeant. He was a proud recipient of several awards including the
Duty in Aid of Civil Authority Medal, TF Placid Service Medal, Military
Commendation Medal, and the Medal for Humane Service.
Al was employed for 31 years as a heavy equipment operator for
the town of Kingsbury Highway Department and was a charter member of the
Kingsbury Hose Company and former Chief of the Fire Police.
He loved spending time with his family and vacationing in
Maine and enjoyed sampling craft beers and the occasional bourbon. Al was an
avid and dedicated Los Angeles Dodgers fan and loved the New York Giants.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Millie Sutliff;
his three daughters, Helen (Jack), of Fort Ann, Susan (Patrick), of South Glens
Falls and Catherine (Brian) of Hudson Falls; three brothers, Arthur Sutliff of
Schuylerville, NY, Frank Sutliff of Stillwater, OK, and Milton Sutliff of Oklahoma
City, OK; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

– Allen “Digger” O’Dell, Jr., 83, passed away April 21, 2022, at Granville

– Delilah Chesterman, 71, passed away peacefully at Haynes House of Hope in Granville
on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
Born April
22, 1950, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and
Virginia (Jakway) Harrington.
Delilah was
a 1968 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.
On November
5, 1977, she married Robert Chesterman.
They enjoyed 40 years of marriage together before his passing in June of
2017.
Delilah
worked at Glens Falls and Continental Insurance Co. from 1968 to 1976. She spent her time volunteering for Catholic
Charities for 13 years. She and her
husband, Robert, were named volunteers of the year in 2007 and attended a
dinner hosted by Bishop Howard Hubbard.
She was a
long-time communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls where she
volunteered, was a cantor and a chair member.
Delilah
enjoyed music, playing the piano, auto-harp and harp. She also enjoyed restoring antiques and
sewing. Along side her husband, they
traveled to 49 states, all the major National Parks throughout the United
States, Mexico, Canada, Italy and a 25th Anniversary Cruise.
Besides her
parents and husband, Delilah was predeceased by her 3-year-old son, Shawn and
her stepdaughter, Connie Newell.
Survivors
include her brother, Daniel Harrington and his wife, Eve; her sisters, Rebecca
Habshi, Jill Welch and her husband, Kevin; her granddaughter, Shauna Newell; her
two nieces, Erin Flewelling and her husband, Jake and Elizabeth Backus and her
husband, Tyler, as well as several great nephews.

HUDSON FALLS – Deborah “Chicky” Carol (Allen) Perkins of Hudson
Falls was surrounded by her family as she succumbed to a short fight with
pancreatic cancer on April 15, 2022. She was 67.
Debbie was born December 2, 1954 at Glens Falls Hospital to the
late Raymond Allen and Henrietta (TerSla) Allen Morris. She was raised in
Hudson Falls, with her five siblings: “Dinny” (Henry) Allen, William “Billy”
Allen, Donald Allen, Judy Mackey, and Janet Allen.
She was the most amazing and devoted spouse to David Jon Perkins
of Greenwich, NY who she wed on December 9, 1972 in a beautiful ceremony at the
Hudson Falls United Methodist Church. Debbie retired as a mortgage broker from
Beneficial Finance in Glens Falls. Dave is a retired teacher from the Hudson
Falls Public School District. Together they raised their daughters, Jennifer
(Julian Sciolla) Perkins and Valerie (Justin) Chapman, who kept their lives
busy and full with activities, sports, and musicals. As a family they enjoyed snowmobiling
and are active members of the Barnstormers Snowmobile Club and the New York
State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA).
She was active in Order of the Eastern Star Triangle Fides Chapter
24 based in Glens Falls. She was a Beloved Queen in 1970, and she remained an
advisor to the chapter for several years after.
Debbie and Dave are both active members of the Hudson Falls United
Methodist Church. Not only were they married there, but their daughters and
grandchildren were also baptized there. Debbie helped organize summer Vacation
Bible School, the Back-to-School Backpack Drive, served on the Pastor-Parish
Relations Committee, arranged flowers and altar decorations, served luncheons
during the Lent season, and helped in any way she could be of service to the
church and community. You can continue to see her small deeds at work every
spring as the tulips she planted in front of the building bloom near the
welcome sign.
A proud graduate of Hudson Falls High School, she had been
instrumental in making sure the class of 1972 had several successful class
reunions.
Debbie enjoyed baking and cooking with her five grandchildren,
James, Alexandra, Orrin, Ella and Thomas. She was bestowed the title of
“Grand-smother Extraordinaire” and lived up to that title everyday in word and
deed. She was a constant cheerleader; celebrating and supporting all of her
family’s proud moments in any way that she could. Whether making costumes, set
pieces and props for theater productions or helping make a space look and feel
special, Debbie was always finding ways to put her creative skills to use in
the service of others.
Debbie had a knack for making everyone feel welcome and
comfortable. She was accepting and kind, with the warmest smile. Debbie gave
herself, her time, and her heart to anyone in need without question,
hesitation, or judgment. All who knew her were touched by her generosity, and
devoted spirit.
Her unwavering faith and devotion, strength and determination,
gumption and fun-loving attitude carried her through her life, and especially
in her final days. The members of the Allen and Perkins families will feel the
loss of her presence and miss her deeply. Her family has been moved and
uplifted by the outpouring of love from her friends, extended family and community
as they have visited to share their love, stories, and well-wishes.
The family would like to extend their thanks to High Peaks Hospice, the nursing staff at Glens Falls Hospital, and her church family for their love and support.

– Robert B. “Sippy” Sipowicz, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, April
8, 2022, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born June 9,
1956, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Helen P.
Sipowicz, Sr.
Sippy was a
graduate of Hudson Falls High School and then attended Post University in
Connecticut, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in business.
For many
years, Sippy owned and operated Bob’s Grocery in Hudson Falls. After the sale of the grocery store, he then
worked and retired from C.R. Bard.
Sippy was a
big sports fan. He would frequently
umpire at the local areas school girls softball games and also officiated the
girls basketball games. Sippy enjoyed
both hockey and baseball and was a fan of the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red
Sox. His home was always filled with the
sound of Bruce Springsteen. Most importantly, Sippy loved his grandchildren and
enjoyed their company.
Survivors
include his children, Cameron Sipowicz (Gabrielle) of Argyle, Andrew Sipowicz
of Hartford and Carly Sipowicz (Matt Ploof) of Hartford; his dear friend, J.R.

Ruth as well as his sister, Helen Marie Sipowicz of Colorado.

celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the
Wayside Inn, 3130 Route 4 in in Hudson Falls.
