Albert G. Thaxton

HUDSON FALLS – Albert G. Thaxton, 71, of Hudson Falls, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on June 23, 1951 in Manhattan, New York City, he was the son of the late Bernie Thaxton, Sr. and Bernette (Laye) Thaxton.

Albert was a graduate of Nanuet High School. He worked for many years as a security guard for several companies and also was a cleaner, working for the Glens Falls National Bank. Albert loved the outdoors and nature and enjoyed fishing. More recently, his family turned him on to camping which he also enjoyed doing in the summer. Albert was an avid sports fan. He loved to draw and was a talented artist.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Nicole Thaxton; and a son, Anthony Thaxton.

He is survived by his loving companion of 45 years, Debra Conklin of Hudson Falls; his children, Bernard Thaxton and Bernette Thaxton, both of South Carolina, James Conklin of Queensbury, Karim Thaxton (Rachel) of Hudson Falls, and Annie Thaxton-Colombe (Jerry) of Fort Edward; a daughter in law, Lisa Leibold; son in law, Gerald Taylor; grandchildren, Anthony and Ryan Conklin, Lanyia, Serenity and Keke Taylor, Zane and Kshawn Thaxton, and Karim Thaxton, Jr; a great grandson, Josiah Thaxton; his brother, Bernie Thaxton, Jr.; sister, Joanne Thaxton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Marguerite E. Waite

HUDSON FALLS – Marguerite E. Waite, 91, of Hudson Falls went into the arms of the Lord on January 25, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Madalyn (Carpenter) Smith.

In August of 1959, she married Frank Edgar Waite, Sr. They were married for 29 years until his passing on August 30, 1988.

Marguerite, also known as “Peggy” to family and friends, was a mother of 10 children, 7 girls and 3 boys.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, pinnacle, wrestling, football and of course her scratch offs, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite was predeceased by her brother William “Bill” Smith; sister Eleanor M Huguley; her daughters, Wanda Flewelling, Robin Larson (Marcus) all of Hudson Falls; her sons Kenneth Fisher, Jr. (Joyce) of North Carolina, and Frank E. Waite, Jr. of Hudson Falls; granddaughter, Nicole Mitchell of South Glens Falls; and grandson Frederick Blanchard, III (Michelle).

Marguerite is survived by her children, Carol Potter of Granville, Marguerite Mitchell of South Glens Falls, Nancy Lopienski (Michael) of Hudson Falls, Madalyn Waters, Theresa Blanchard (Fred) of Hudson Falls, and Rick Fisher of Indiana; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Argyle.

Katie VanTassell

HUDSON FALLS – Katie VanTassell, 76, a long-time resident of Hudson Falls, most recently of Queensbury, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2023, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on February 11, 1946, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy VanTassell.

For many years, Katie was the proud owner and operator of Kay Bee’s Cleaning in Lake George, where she provided housekeeping services for many area homes and businesses.

She was a proud mother to nine children and was the neighborhood mother and caretaker of all.  Over the years Katie inherently lived her life for her children, pets and the love of her life, Michael Dougher.  In her later years, she was a homebody who enjoyed watching James Dean and Marilyn Monroe movies, as well as westerns, with Michael.  Katie enjoyed gardening and will be remembered by her children for the wonderful meals she would cook.

She had a passion for animals and she loved all her pets.  There wasn’t a rescue animal she wouldn’t try to help. Katie was always willing to help an animal or person in need.

She also had the taste for high fashion, her makeup was always on point back in the day.  She enjoyed the 70’s and 80’s era makeup and hair styles and loved embellishing herself and going out with her friends.  Katie had a quick wit, and she had a great sense of humor who would hold court with her friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Rebecca Yell; her siblings, Peter VanTassell, Dolores Burke and her grandson, Thomas Warren Yell.

She is survived by her beloved partner, Michael Dougher; her children, Mary Beth Yell, Wyman Yell, Eric Yell, Warren Yell, John Yell, Peter Yell, Jesse Dougher and Jordan Dougher; her beloved nephew, David Burke; her grandchildren, Meghan, Daniel, Joanne, Cindi, Kevin, Adam, Michael, Tyler, Rachel, Adam and Karliegh; many great grandchildren; her sister, Carol Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, following the calling hours.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Pine View Cemetery on Quaker Road in Queensbury.

Michael R. Bourdeau

GLENS FALLS – Michael R. Bourdeau, 75, of Fourth Street, Glens Falls, passed away at home on Sunday, January 22, 2023, with his loved ones by his side after a courageously fought battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Born on March 1, 1947, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John L. and Evelyn A. (Farrell) Bourdeau.

Mike was very proud to have received his GED in 1985.

On September 24, 1966, he married his soul mate and the love of his life, Mary Ellen Donohue at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Mike was drafted into the Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Mike and Mary Ellen spent Christmas of 1968 in Hawaii when Mike had his R & R from Vietnam.

Prior to serving his country, Mike worked at local farms in the area. After returning from the service, he was employed at NIBCO in South Glens Falls. Mike retired from the Warren County Airport in 2009. During his retirement he continued working and assisting others while driving bus for the Kingsbury Fort Edward Senior Center.

Mike was a lifetime member of the 11th Armored Cavalry Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia and the Blackhorse. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 233 in Glens Falls.

He was also a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Mike was well known for making an awesome chili. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling especially to his Vietnam reunions which were held in a different state each year.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his father and mother in-law Oscar F. (Pete) and Ellen H. (Larmore) Donohue, his brother’s in-law William F., Robert M., and Phillip R. Donohue, his great-niece Amy E. McKinney, great-great niece Isabella Garn and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen (Donohue) Bourdeau of Glens Falls; sisters-in law Maureen Wagner and her husband Dale of Pennsylvania, Joanne Donohue of Liverpool, and Carol Donohue of Lakeland, FL; nieces Cindy K. McKinney (Rich), Cathy Campolieto (John), Cheri Troumbley (Ray), Kristine A. Donohue, Chelsea Dearie (Walt); nephews Craig Donohue, Robert Donohue (Barbara), Justin Donohue (Kendall) and David Wagner (Melissa); great nephews and nieces include Mikes God son Mathew Clark, Justin Garn, Marty Altizio, Noah McKinney, Matthew Leavitt, Drew Stevens, Quinn Donohue, Liam and Jordyn Dearie, Leah Donohue, Deanna Campney, Amanda Dellinger, Kalysta Donohue, Krista and Kera Rucker; great-great nieces and nephews Bryce and Charlotte Campney, Lily and Olivia Dellinger, Sebastian Leavitt, Rowan Eggleston, Ariyanna Altizio, Riley Altizio, Octavia Stevens, and Emrielle Combs; his uncle George Bourdeau (Connie); and Aunt Mildred Rundell, and several cousins and many close friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 26, 2023, from 3pm-6pm at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday January 27, 2023, at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church 62 Warren St., Glens Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Glens Falls Cemetery.

Mark Fenton

HUDSON FALLS – Mark Fenton, 65, of Hudson Falls, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long fight with cancer.

Born on March 6, 1957 in Glens Falls, he was a life-long Hudson Falls resident and son of the late Robert and Lorraine Fenton.

Mark was a 1976 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and after graduation, he started his career as a welder and metal fabricator, working in various shops in the area. He had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed assembling model cars and die cast cars and even owned his own beloved classic 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle. Mark attended many car shows over the years and enjoyed watching car shows on television. He was a member of the Adirondack Car Enthusiasts as well as an honorary member of the Red Barons Car Club. Mark was also a collector of coins and loved to watch his favorite wrestlers on WWE.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Daniel Fenton; a niece, Emma Calabrese; and a nephew, Jarrod Fenton.

He is survived by his boys, Raymond, Walter, Terrance and Shane Maynard, and Bob Fenton; his siblings, David, Marybeth, Bill (Kathy), and John (Kim) Fenton; his beloved grandchildren, Skylin, Carson, Knoa, Avah, and Hailey Maynard; very special friends, Al and Bonnie Edgerly, and Steve “Chico” Clark; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet H. Winslow

HUDSON FALLS – Janet H. Winslow, 84, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends, at her home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Born on December 20, 1938, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Pauline (Nailor) Jessey.

Janet was a graduate of Queensbury High School.  Shortly after her graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Phil Winslow.  Phil treated her as his queen until he passed away on August 30, 2014.

She worked for many years at TD Bank in Glens Falls, until her retirement in 1997.

Janet was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She enjoyed trying out her luck playing scratchers, bingo and visiting the occasional casino.  If she wasn’t trying a game of chance, she loved to watch the NY Mets play baseball.

Janet cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and her family and friends.  She especially enjoyed visiting her friends, Carolyn Salone and Carol Plude and spending time with the rest of Carol’s family.

Janet is survived by her son, “the pride of her life: Kenny Winslow and his wife, Dawn; her three grandchildren, Amy, Tomee and Krystal and her finance, Cody; several great grandchildren; and several cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the Park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Robert F. “Bob” Locke

ARGYLE  – Robert F. “Bob” Locke, 64, of Argyle, passed away January 17, 2023 at Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls.

Born December 22, 1958, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Sheila (Lackey) Sweet and the late Robert N. Locke.

Bob attended South Glens Falls High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He proudly served his county from 1978 to 1981, being stationed in Korea and Michigan

On August 21, 1994, Bob married Bethany Jameson in Hampton, NH.

Bob had a passion for classic and model cars.  He was known to be a car enthusiast and loved going to model car shows and expos.  Besides cars, Bob loved all animals and at one time, owned and cared for horses.  He also loved riding around his property in an ATV.  Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor, all of his jokes and his ability to socialize. 

Survivors include his wife, Bethany Locke of Argyle; his children, Chad and Daryl Locke; his mother Sheila Sweet of South Glens Falls; his siblings Wanda Sargent (Bob) of Granville, Joseph Locke (Cindy) of Fort Edward, Lisa Gailey (Bill) of South Glens Falls, Shawn Locke of Fort Ann, Nichole Locke of Queensbury, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call, Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A memorial service will be conducted, Saturday, at 5 p.m., following the calling hours, at the funeral home.

Sarah A Usher

QUEENSBURY – Sarah A Usher, 87, of Caroline Street in Queensbury passed away on Monday January 17, 2023.

Sarah was born in Glens Falls on November 15,1935 to Howard and Sarah Smith.

She spent her early years in Whitehall before moving to Hudson Falls graduating from Hudson Falls High School in 1953.

Sarah married Sheridan Usher on May 24, 1958 and remained married to him until his death in 2008. Sarah was employed as a senior underwriter at The Glens Falls Insurance Company which later became Continental until she took an early retirement at the age of 50.

Although Sarah never had any children of her own she loved her two nephews and their children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a friendly neighbor who enjoyed garage sales and who was active in the senior aquatics program at the YMCA.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister and her brother-in-law, Kaye and Henry Barbieri and her grandnephew, John Barbieri Jr.

Sarah is survived by her nephews, David Barbieri of Glens Falls and John Barbieri  (Deborah) of Gansevoort; her great nieces Alexandra, Lydia (Joseph), Jessica (Matt), Kaitlyn (Shaun) and Jennifer Barbieri and their children.

At Sarah’s request there will be no calling hours.

The Rite of Committal will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

LeRoy Edward Catone, Sr

HUDSON FALLS – LeRoy Edward Catone, Sr., 67, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after a long illness.

Born on August 25, 1955, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Anthony Leo Catone, Sr., and Hazel May (Yager) Catone.

LeRoy was a driver and mechanic for many years, working for several local companies, including, CWI, the Great Escape and Hulo Transportation.

He enjoyed gambling and tinkering on mechanical devices.  LeRoy loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.  Most of all, LeRoy loved spending time with his fiancé Tina Rivers.

In addition to his parents and wife, Sandra Lyn Catone, he was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Lampmon and his best Friend Kenny VanNess.

 He is survived by his children, LeRoy Catone, Jr., of Granville, Patricia- May (Michael Washburn) Catone of Hudson Falls and Matthew Catone of Queensbury; his grandchildren, LeRoy III, Damien, Autumn and Lucas; his brothers and sisters, Anthony, Alice, Cindy and Judy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Following the memorial services on Monday, all are welcome to a gathering at Leroy’s home at 13 Mosher Lane in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be in the spring, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Kevin M. Knapp

HUDSON FALLS – Kevin M. Knapp, 64, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Born on July 14, 1958, in Glens Falls, he was a life-long area resident and son of Richard and Liane (McFarland) Knapp.

Kevin grew up in Hudson Falls and was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and then went on to earn his Master’s in Criminal Justice Policy. Kevin’s love for helping others complimented his work in special education with the ARC and at Hudson Falls High School. He held our military veterans in the highest regards and supported many veteran’s organizations through the years.

Kevin was an accomplished musician and played the drums for 50 years, playing in many local bands. He loved animals, especially his dogs and enjoyed going fishing.

Kevin was predeceased by his first wife, Cindy Knapp; his maternal grandparents, Theodore and Marguerite McFarland, and his paternal grandparents, Harry and Bertha Knapp.

He is survived by his parents, Richard and Liane Knapp; his twin brother, Keith Knapp; his brother, Bruce Knapp; sisters, Pamela Roberge and Tracy Knapp; his daughter, Kristal; his grandchildren, Blaike, Christian, Lucas, and Carolyn; his nieces, Amy Roberge and Emily Tomlin; grandnieces Daphne, Katelyn, Kylee and grandnephew, Charlie Tomlin;  and his longtime companion, Sally Deming.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

Steven W. Deyette, Sr

FORT EDWARD – On Tuesday, January 10, 2023 Steven W. Deyette, Sr passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family at the age of 67.

Steven was born to Leon and Catherine Deyette (Larsen) on October 28, 1955.

Steven leaves behind is beloved heart- broken wife Kathleen Deyette (Sargent) of 24 years and his children Steven Deyette Jr, his wife Ashley, Joshua Deyette, Darren Holcomb, Jeffrey Chappelle Jr and Kristen Chappelle. Steven’s siblings include Donna Ciccone, Sharon Kendall and her husband Walter, Leon (Chipper) Deyette and wife Nancy, Debbie Deyette, Carol Underwood and her husband Norm. His grandchildren who he called his “babies” include Gracie, Olivia, Noah, Lilly and step grandchildren Halie and Sophia. Steven also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle, and cousins.

Steven joined the Army in 1979, initially stationed in Panama. He was a tank driver and mechanic. After serving four years, he then continued in the Army Reserves. He also learned the Deyette family black top trade, enjoying the hard work. Eventually he went on to obtain his CDL and went on to become a truck driver enjoying the challenge of maneuvering and driving heavy equipment. When Steven wasn’t hard at work, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife Kathleen, dog Cooper and his brother Chipper. He also enjoyed relaxing, sitting on their deck or just sitting watching the westerns he loved. He prided himself on his meticulous lawn care regimen. He was an avid Yankee’s and Viking fan and loved cruising around together with his wife on his Harley lowrider motorcycle. Prior to his health decline he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Steven and his wife Kathleen shared many adventures over the years including four wheeling, vacationing in Hampton Beach, St. Thomas and sharing rum drinks on the beach and climbing coconut trees. Steven’s boys will deeply miss not having him just a phone call away just to chit chat or provide guidance and advice. Steven shared a special bond with each of his siblings including his four sisters from Florida and especially his only brother, Chipper, treasuring every moment spent with them.

Steven was an easygoing man that wasn’t afraid to give it to you straight. He had the biggest heart and was always ready and willing to help others. Steven was a joy to be around as his quick wit and amazing sense of humor could light up a room with smiles and laughter. His life motto was “Life is good”. He lived life on his own terms and lived it to the fullest up until the end. Steven’s family will forever miss his calm strength and laughter. He leaves a hole in his family’s hearts that won’t soon be filled. They will always be comforted by his devotion and innate ability to love them so deeply. Steven was happiest surrounded by his family and friends sharing moments of laughter and cracking jokes. He could render you speechless with his cutting one liner’s. Many evenings were spent with Kathleen sitting by a campfire staring at the stars telling stories and enjoying each other’s company.

Steven’s strength while enduring so much pain was amazing. He was always more concerned with the effect it had on others. It will forever be a reminder of his deep love and devotion to the one’s closest to him. He was loved and deeply admired by his family, his wife’s heart is broken. The tears that have been shed feel like they will never stop. As in our marriage vows, “Death parted us but heaven will reunite us my king”.

The family would like to thank Tower 2 at Glens Falls Hospital- Jennifer (RN), Cassandra Frasier, you both helped me so much through this difficult time.  We would like to thank Chris, Courtney, Rodney, Tom and especially Sue Havens for giving me strength.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future in honor of this great man! He requested “If they don’t have something nice to say about me then screw them, they don’t need to come”. Steven shared a special bond with each of his siblings including his four sisters from Florida and especially his only brother Chipper, treasuring every moment spent with them.

Steven was an easygoing man that wasn’t afraid to give it to you straight. He had the biggest heart and was always ready and willing to help others. Steven was a joy to be around as his quick wit and amazing sense of humor could light up a room with smiles and laughter. His life motto was “Life is good”. He lived life on his own terms and lived it to the fullest up until the end. Steven’s family will forever miss his calm strength and laughter. He leaves a hole in his family’s hearts that won’t soon be filled. They will always be comforted by his devotion and innate ability to love them so deeply. Steven was happiest surrounded by his family and friends sharing moments of laughter and cracking jokes. He could render you speechless with his cutting one liner’s. Many evenings were spent with Kathleen sitting by a campfire staring at the stars telling stories and enjoying each other’s company.

Steven’s strength while enduring so much pain was amazing. He was always more concerned with the effect it had on others. It will forever be a reminder of his deep love and devotion to the one’s closest to him. He was loved and deeply admired by his family, his wife’s heart is broken. The tears that have been shed feel like they will never stop. As in our marriage vows, “Death parted us but heaven will reunite us my king”.

The family would like to thank Tower 2 at Glens Falls Hospital- Jennifer (RN), Cassandra Frasier, you both helped me so much through this difficult time.  We would like to thank Chris, Courtney, Rodney, Tom and especially Sue Havens for giving me strength.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future in honor of this great man! He requested “If they don’t have something nice to say about me then screw them, they don’t need to come”. Merl R. Allen

HUDSON FALLS – Merl R. Allen, 67, passed away unexpectedly, at his home on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Born September 27, 1955, in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Ethan and Ona (Thomas) Allen.

Merl was a 1973 graduate from Hadley – Luzerne Central School District.

On October 19, 1973, Merl married Kathleen Yole in Glens Falls.

Merl held various jobs throughout his life.  He was experienced with body shop repairs and worked for VW Weeks, making bus body repairs; Queensbury Motors, where he was Manager of the body shop, and an adjuster for UAC. Merl was the proud owner and operator of his own body shop, where he met and made many friends in the community. Before retiring in 2018, Merl was a millwright/carpenter through the Union, Local 229, where he worked at Knolls Atomic in Milton.

For many years, Merl enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Hadley Hunting/Fishing Club.  Merl was always there to lend a capable hand to anyone in need.  He was known by his family and friends as being a jack of all trades. There wasn’t a project he wouldn’t help with, from carpentry to plumbing and electrical work, he was always there to help.  Merl’s family was most important to him.  His children and grandchildren were his world.

In addition to his parents, Merl was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Allen and Douglas Allen; his sister-in-law, Elaine Allen; and father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Betty Yole.

Merl is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen Allen of Hudson Falls; his children, Holly Corlew and her husband, Peter of Queensbury, Lisa Hastings and her husband, Jason of Wilton; his grandchildren, Kelsey DiCaprio and her significant other, Igor Kozak, Abbey King and her significant other, Brian Barrett, Ryleigh “Jasper” King and Sam Gale; his brother, Neil Allen of Day; his sisters, Jeanie Allen and her husband, Lee of Day; Sue Fairchild and her husband, Scott of Denver, NC; his sister in law, Nancy Allen of Pensacola, FL, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, following the calling hours, 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Reverend Desmond Rossi, officiating.

Joyce L. Monahan

WEST FORT ANN – Joyce L. Monahan, 75 of West Fort Ann, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Born in Glens Falls on March 3, 1947, Joyce was the daughter of the late Roy and Rita Porteous.

Joyce was a graduate of Fort Ann Central School and attended a semester at Adirondack Community College.

In 1966, Joyce and Dennis Monahan eloped.  After they married, Joyce moved to Las Vegas where she worked and lived for over 20 years.

Upon returning home, Joyce held various jobs throughout the area, including Stewart’s in Hudson Falls, then Price Chopper and Market 32 as a cashier.  She was a member of the West Fort Ann United Methodist Church and a previous member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 574 of Hudson Falls.

Joyce enjoyed playing card with her sisters, crocheting blankets, especially baby blankets for family. Joyce was also an avid reader of mystery and romance novels.  Everyone Joyce encountered throughout her life will remember her as being welcoming, easy going and a friend to everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her sister, Edna Sexton and her grandson, Cody Dashnaw.

Survivors include her son, Michael Monahan and his significant other, Elaina Blackmer; her grandchildren, Katelyn Monahan and Samantha Wood; her great grandchildren, Michael, Karlee, and Remi Wood; her sisters, Judith Johnson (Carl), Helen “Honey” Edwards (John), Genia Dragon (John) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

A spring burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
