WHITEHALL – Everett R. Mattison III, 36, of Whitehall, was tragically taken from his loved ones doing what he loved on April 21, 2023.

Born August 16, 1986, Everett was the son of Everett R. Mattison Jr. and Vicky (Starks) Mattison of Whitehall.

Everett attended Hartford Central School. He was employed at Adirondack Natural Stone in Whitehall.

He married the love of his life, Marieka Carman on June 30, 2012.

Everett was an avid hunter. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Everett was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Everett Mattison Sr. and Jane (Rosick) Mattison; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Beverly (Blair) Starks; his favorite aunt, Edna Green; and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Marieka (Carman) Mattison of Whitehall; his 2 children, Everett R. Mattison, IV and Maraylee Mattison; his parents, Everett R. Mattison Jr. and Vicky (Starks) Mattison of Whitehall; his siblings, Tina Mattison, Kristi Lee Johnson, Joshua Mattison, Jessica Stevenson; and his brother in law who he thought of as a brother, Melvin Key Sheppard; his special niece, Kaylee Jade Kelly; his mother and father in law, Jim and Donna (Pettis) Carman; his close friend, Jimmy O’Rourke; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many loved ones.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

GLENS FALLS – Terry Joseph Fitzgerald, affectionately known as ‘The Old Man’, 75, of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of April 25, 2023.

Terry’s sunrise was on May 3, 1947, born to the late Beryl and June (Rabine) Fitzgerald. As most of his family and friends will agree, The Old Man was always larger than life, and started that way when he entered this world as an almost 14-pound baby! His mom joked that he needed shoes when he was born since he was ready to walk at birth.

Terry spent his youth working with his dad on the family race cars, and with his grandfather on his plane projects. He graduated to his own race truck, an old Ford called the Silver Bullet, and the love of racing never left him. He spent many years racing between Upstate New York as a youth and later in Northern Michigan with his 4-cylinder Chevy Monza, the F-4. He won “Sportsman of the Year” at Northern Michigan Speedway in 2003, for doing what he was known for, helping others.

“The Old Man” was a founding member and Vice President of the Hebron Motorcycle Club for the last decade. The Old Man loved his “Brothers and Sisters, ” truly embodied what it meant to be a biker, and passed that on to his family. He was a member of the Drifter’s Motorcycle Club in the ’70s. Known as ‘Tramp’ he traversed the country many times on his Harleys and made friends and connections everywhere. He was also a member for many years of the Elegant Disciples Motorcycle Club, an interracial motorcycle club out of the heart of Detroit. As a Jack of All Trades, Terry was a talented Harley mechanic, electrician, rough carpenter, and had knowledge of almost everything mechanical. If it was broken, he could either fix it, or be able to tell you why he couldn’t, but who could. Terry loved tinkering and loved a challenge, and he was able to spend the last 15 years working maintenance for Moran Enterprises.

Terry is survived by the love of his life, wife of 32 years, Dawn (Matson) Fitzgerald; their children, Doniece (Brad) Muzzy, and Ashleigh Fitzgerald; along with Debbie and their children Terry (Nancy) Fitzgerald, Jesse (Ivy) Fitzgerald, Shelly (Larry) Curtis; Terri Jo Fitzgerald, daughter of Michelle Leombruno (deceased), and his first wife, Alice and their daughter, Wendy. Alice and Terry’s daughter Jill passed away in June 1991. He has 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A short service will take place at 3:30 pm.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Joshua H. McNaughton, 40, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023. Josh was born on July 20, 1982 in Glens Falls and was the son of Gayle (Summerville) Mattison and the late Francis McNaughton.

Josh worked as a driver for several taxi companies and medicabs in the area. He also worked at Finch Pruyn and Massie’s Restaurant. Josh loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking.

He is predeceased by his father, Francis McNaughton; a sister, Joann Oeinck; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Wilma Summerville; and Howard Rousseau.

Josh is survived by his mother, Gayle Mattison; a son, Isaiah Douglas; a stepson, Michael; his brothers and sisters, Crystal McNaughton, Leo (Terry) Rousseau, Pam Humiston, Joanie Ely, Krystal Westover, Ashley Wells, and Dustin Rousseau; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

HUDSON FALLS – Leonard Thomas “Tom” Mansell, 75, of Hudson Falls, passed away at home on November 28, 2022.

Born on July 23, 1947, in Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Louis and Constance (Elverson) Mansell.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Tom.  He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.  His passing has left a hole in lives of our family.

Tom was a graduate of South Glens Falls Central School and proudly served in the United States Air Force.  He was stationed in various places in the United States and in Germany.

Tom was a free spirit all his life, he worked in construction, both in New York and in the southern states, with quite a few years in Texas.  He was very active in local AA groups and always said. “You have friends wherever you are,”

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Brann, Nancy Dickson and Connie Jackson; his brother, Lou Mansell; also his nephews, Brian Mansell, James Brann, Shane Jackson; and his niece, Julia Brann; his great nephews, Cole Jackson, Troy Jackson and Kevin Marcum.

A memorial calling hour will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 10 am to 10:45 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.  

A Celebration of remembrance will follow at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Committal services with full military honors will be conducted at 12:30 on Tuesday, at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

We are so very sad to announce the passing of Roger Kurt Runkle on Wednesday, March 8, 2023   at the age of 85 after a long period of illness.

Roger was born on October 13, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, the second son of Charles and Gladys Runkle (Loveland).  Following the early death of his father in 1944, the family lived with their grandparents in Hudson Falls, N.Y. where Roger and his brother Donald spent their childhood years.  Roger attended Glens Falls High school.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Susan (nee Medcalf); his much-loved grandsons, Blake (Casey) and Evan Runkle and Justin (Alex) and Dakota (Rachel) Hamby; as well as daughter-in-law Lisa Runkle; stepdaughter, Angela (Keith) Cooper; stepson, Stephen Grant; and step-grand-daughter, Chelsea (Phil) Tesoriero. He was predeceased by his son, Karl; daughter Malia; brother Donald Runkle; former wife, Nancy Hagan; and parents Jim and Gladys Van De Mark.

His military career in the US Navy started upon graduation from Michigan State University in 1959. Upon completion of Flight Training, he flew patrols in the Pacific, based in Hawaii, followed by 2 years in Corpus Christi, during which time Malia and Karl were born. After assignment to Patrol Squadron 21 in Brunswick, Maine, he was Safety Officer for the Pacific Fleet P-3 squadrons at NAS Moffett Field, California, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander.  From 1971 to 1974 his P3 squadron was deployed to the Philippines with detachments in Vietnam and Thailand in support of the Vietnam conflict.  In 1977, Roger was awarded the rank of Commander and returned to Pensacola as Executive Officer of Training Squadron VT/2 and Commanding Officer in 1978.  Roger and Susan married in 1980, combining the two families together. Roger’s last tour of duty was as Assistant Chief of Staff at NATO Headquarters in Denmark from 1982-1985.  He retired from the Navy in 1986, living and working in the Cincinnati area until moving to Florida in 2004.

Roger was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who was always

loyal and supportive to others. He loved travel, particularly to Maine and London, playing golf, keeping fit, watching football and above all, family visits, particularly at Christmas.  He leaves behind treasured memories that will live on with family and friends.

FORT ANN – Rockwood “Rocky” Symonds, 52, of Fort Ann, went home with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, at 9:47 am, surrounded by family, while in the arms of his loving wife, at Albany Medical Center.

Born on May 15, 1970, in Saranac Lake, the third and last child of Roger P. Symonds and Meredith I. (Flint) Symonds. Rocky spent his childhood among many friends and family in Vermontville, NY. He enjoyed playing basketball, riding his bike, fishing, camping, boating, swimming, as well as any other outdoor activity.

After high school Rocky found his calling working at Callanan Industries in Albany, where he climbed to a foreman position that he loved. He enjoyed the comradery of his crew members who looked up to him as a 2nd father figure. He was a proud member of the local 190 Laborer’s International Union of North America in Glenmont.

Rocky was always a family man who also loved dearly his dogs – Bella, Faith, and Daisy May, as well as any and every other animal he has ever encountered in his many life adventures. He enjoyed traveling, seeing new places and things, as well as any adventure, near or far, with his loving wife, Lisa Jo. Rocky was a giant teddy bear who helped anyone he encountered in need, was always the first to give a needed hug, or stick up for anyone who needed it.

Rocky was predeceased by his first wife, Amy Symonds, and his son Rocky Jon Symonds. He is survived  by his wife, Lisa Jo Symonds of Fort Ann; his daughter, Kayla Marie Symonds; his parents, Roger P. Symonds and Meredith I. Symonds; his stepchildren, James Carter, Stephanie Carter, and Stephen Carter; and 8 grandchildren who were his whole heart, who called him Papa Rocky; his sister, Sandee Stevens; his brother, Roger Symonds, Jr.; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A time of remembrance will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls..

GLENS FALLS – Bruce E. Crandall, 71, of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Born on July 24, 1951, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Clayton Crandall and the late Dorothy (Harding) Gamache.

Bruce graduated from Granville High School, class of 1970.

His career accomplishments included working at General Electric Co. in Fort Edward, the Post Star newspaper, Hill Electric and Irving Tissue until his retirement. When Bruce was not busy working, he enjoyed fishing, and hunting with friends. He liked music, especially the blues. Early in his life, he played the drums in a band with his bandmates.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 28 years, Estela Tumaque-Crandall; his sister-in-law, Nemia Tumaque-Holmes-Golden and family; his sisters and brothers, Sheryl Wilson (Claude) of Illinois, Deborah Rozell (Fred) of Granville, Adrian Crandall (Sandy) of Sevierville, TN, Christine Hall of Hudson Falls, Corby Crandall, and Larry Crandall (Gabrielle) both of Glens Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the callings hours, on Tuesday, at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow the service on Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Granville.

A gathering and celebration of life will follow the burial at the VFW Post 1653, 9 North Street in Granville.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to all who went above and beyond to provide comfort and ease at this very difficult time. GANSEVOORT – Richard A. Chapin, II, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Born December 12, 1984 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Robin (Maracle) Chapin and Richard Chapin.

Richard graduated from Hudson Falls High, where he enjoyed varsity wrestling and wore his favorite color, green, on his school uniform with pride.

When Richard wasn’t reading science fiction or playing the latest video games, he developed a knack for computers which helped him find success at Global Foundries.

He loved camping. His favorite summer nights were spent around glowing campfires surrounded by family and lifelong friends who would laugh with his sardonic, wisecracking jokes.

Richard especially loved gathering for the holidays so he could spend extra time with his family & friends.

Richard is predeceased by grandparents, Lemuel Chapin, Sally Chapin and Robert Morehouse.

Richard is survived by his mother, Robin Chapin; his father, Richard Chapin; his sister, Nicole Chapin and grandmother, Joan Morehouse. Richard’s greatest joy was as father to daughters Leyla Chapin, Amelia Chapin and son Jacob Chapin. Richard was loved and will be missed by many including step-mother Natalia Chapin, step-siblings John & Victor Woodworth, & Sara Woodworth Spaulding. Richard was adored by niece Samantha Chapin and nephew Dustin Lamora. Even though they divorced, he shared a special bond with ex-wife and co-parent Raven (Wescott) Chapin. He was beloved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend and he will be profoundly missed.

QUEENSBURY – Patricia A. Andrus, 87, of Queensbury, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Elderwood at Ticonderoga.

Born on January 23, 1936, in Bolton Landing, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Betty (Banker) Langworthy.

Patricia was a graduate of Argyle Central High School.

On October 17, 1953, she married Forrest Andrus in Bakers Mills.  Together they shared many wonderful years together until he passed away in 1985.

In her early years, she worked for G & V Laundry.  For many years she worked for CR Bard, until her retirement.

Patricia was an avid reader, wonderful cook and always faithful to watch the horses on OTB.  She loved watching and shopping on QVC.  She loved finding deals on the latest gadgets on QVC, but she not only bought one, she purchased several just in case someone else needed one also, because of this, she was lovingly referred to as the “Gadget Queen”.  Her Yorkie, Bella has been her closest faithful companion over the past nine years. Most of all her family was the center of her life and she was happiest in life, when she was spending time with them.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Betty Duell Langworthy; daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Andrus, her great grandchild, Aerolyn Andrus, her brothers, Adelbert Langworthy and Jim Langworthy and her sister, Donna Shorey.

She is survived by her son, John J. Andrus and his wife, Maryann of Glens Falls; her grandchildren, John J. Andrus, Jr., and Lillian Hughes; her great grandchildren, Jasmine Andrus, Sabrina Hughes, Aiden Groesbeck, Damian Andrus, Carter Andrus, Tessa Andrus and Jayce Andrus; her sisters, Carol Cifone and Joan Fennell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

FORT EDWARD, NY AND RUTLAND, VT – Carolyn (Bibb) Enzor, 88 formerly of Rutland, VT, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side.

Born on December 19, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Cassius and Louise Bibb. Carolyn graduated high school in Gadsden Alabama and went on to attend Emma Sampson College in Gadsden, earning her associate degree. On June 19, 1959 she married Ken Enzor and they have enjoyed almost 64 wonderful years together.

Carolyn was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. In her earlier years she worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper in the Birmingham area. Carolyn and Ken moved to Rutland several years ago and, upon Ken’s retirement, they moved to South Carolina and then recently back to Vermont.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Griffies; and a brother, Danny Bibb.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ken Enzor of Fort Edward, NY; two sons, Lamar Enzor of Manchester, VT and Greg Enzor and his wife, Benita of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Justin, Rachael and Nicole; a great-grandchild, Peyton; and her brother, Tommy Bibb of Denver, CO.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

FORT EDWARD (Durkeetown) – Martha M. (MacCauley) Miller, 96, born on August 16, 1926, in Glens Falls passed away on April 5, 2023.  She was the daughter of the late Claude R. and Lillian R. (Rosa) MacCauley. 

Martha is celebrating in heaven with God and all of her beloved family and friends saved by Jesus.  Always with the brightest smile, she welcomed everyone into her home and into her heart. Martha’s greatest passions were gardening and homemaking.  She loved baking, crafting, sewing, canning, hugs and kisses, road trips with her BFF Isabel, and driving her VW bugs.  She never missed a holiday, birthday, anniversary or an opportunity to use her sarcastic wit.  She was a feisty, strong-willed woman who you couldn’t pull one over on. Family gatherings at her home were full of hi-jinks, Martha’s delicious food, and laughter.  Her family will continue to bake her famous recipes for generations to come. 

On the eve of her 96^th birthday, Martha received her Certificate of Completion of High School Studies from Fort Edward High School.  She was one sharp cookie.  Thank you to the Fort Edward Union Free School District, Superintendent, and Board for giving her one of her proudest moments.

She was the Matriarch and Rock of her family.  Her family has peace knowing that she will live on in all of them through the love she unconditionally gave, lessons she taught, perseverance she showed, differences she accepted in others, and the great stories she told. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Miller; and her brother, Douglas MacCauley, and her many rescued companion cats.   

She raised her five children as a single mother, with incredible love and support from her parents. All four of her sons (and son-in-law) served their country in the Armed Forces.  She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Athearn (Frank) of Queensbury; her sons, Jeffery Miller (Connie) of Argyle, Michael Miller (Dawn) of Hudson, Mark Miller (Gwen) of Clemson, South Carolina, and Cary Miller, also of Clemson; seven grandchildren: Aaryne, Matthew (Jen), Jason, Jeff, Frank (Rachael), Hilary (Donald), and Scott; ten great-grandchildren; Morgan, Colin, Grayson, Kodi, Lillian, Brielle, Brennen, Maisie, Evan, and Ryan; (If you can believe it) one great-great grandchild, Juliana; sister-in-law, Isabel MacCauley of Chester, Vermont; dearly loved nieces, nephews, and cousins; close friends and neighbors, April, Lisa, James, Steve, Kim, Carmel, Linda, Jim, Jason, Sabrina, Barb, Betty, Sam, Marilyn, Dennis, and Nancy. 

At Martha’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Graveside service will be conducted at a later date, June 10, 2023 at 11 am at Warrensburg Cemetery in Warrensburg if you choose to attend.  If not, following will be a gathering of all family and friends at her home in Fort Edward.  The addresses can be obtained through her family or Carleton Funeral Home at (518) 747-4243.

Martha requested that memorials in her memory be made to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Robert “Bob” E. Levison, 96, passed away peacefully at home with his daughters by his side on April 6, 2023 after a long illness. 

Bob was born on July 5, 1926, in Norwood, NY.  He was the son of the late Lawrence and Cora (MacDonald) Levison.  Bob graduated from Savannah, Georgia High School in 1944.  He served in the US Army during World War II, from November of 1944 to August of 1946. 

On August 27, 1959, he married his beloved wife, Mary (Gillman) Levison, with whom he shared 50 years.  Mary passed on August 29, 2009, just two days past their 50^th wedding anniversary. 

Bob was a member of the Glens Falls Fire Department for 32 years and retired on April 1, 1988 as an Assistant Chief.  Bob was known by his crew to always be fair and a wonderful Chief. While at the department, he enjoyed his time as representative for the local firefighter’s union as a negotiator.  He had many great friends as part of his firefighter family, who stayed in touch through their retirements.  Several celebrated his and Mary’s 50^th wedding anniversary party in Indian Lake.  On the day of his retirement, Bob and Mary learned that they were to become first time grandparents and the same day moved to their new home, built by Bob on Lake Adirondack in the Town of Indian Lake.  While in Indian Lake, Bob was active in the Lake Association and Town Planning and Zoning Boards.  He loved the outdoors, especially spending time fishing in the area with his brother Larry. After 29 years in his home, Bob decided to move and live with his daughter Karen in Moreau. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Lawrence (Larry) Levison and William (Bill) Levison, his sister Norma Levison, and his beloved wife Mary.  Survivors include his children, Karen Levison of Moreau, NY and Robin Levison of Mayfield, NY; two grandchildren, Charles Gray III, and Tabitha Henzel, both of Mayfield; two Sisters-in law, Marjorie Levison of the Oaks, Fort Edward and Caroline Suprenant of Queensbury and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. Rite of committal will take place at a later date at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Queensbury.  Friends are welcome to join in a Celebration of Life at the Elk’s Lodge #81 on Cronin Road in Queensbury following the Services.
