HUDSON FALLS – Thomas M. McKinney, 79, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Thom was born in Glens Falls, NY on August 22, 1944, to the late Alvin and Elizabeth (Maileff) McKinney.

He was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. He worked in sales retiring in 2009 from Dreamhouse Furniture.

Thom enjoyed outdoor activities, working on cars and “puttering” around the house. While spending time at the beach place in Ocean City, MD, Thom’s favorite activities were swimming, reading on the deck overlooking the water and visiting with the neighbors. Those who knew Thom appreciated his dry sense of humor.

He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Thom is predeceased by his son, Glenn McKinney; his brother Robert McKinney; and his sisters-in-law, Marie and Joan McKinney.

He is survived by his wife, Sally McKinney; two daughters, Terri Shaw (Ed Ireland), and Tracy Simmons (Billy Simmons); grandchildren, Jeffrey McKinney, Kaitlyn Shaw, and BJ Simmons; 6 great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Layla, Ivy, Sarah, Riley, and Rikki; his brother David; and nieces and nephews.

GLENS FALLS – Martin C. “Marty” Tifft, 75, of Glens Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. He passed into the next life with his brother and best friends, Richard and Sally, by his side.

Born on January 22, 1948 in Bennington, Vermont, he was the son of the late Henry and Estella (Jackson) Tifft. Marty grew up in Troy and graduated from Troy High School. He worked as a truck driver for the City of Glens Falls. He loved to fish and play pool, enjoyed county fairs and could often be found hanging out at the Double on South Street. One of his most memorable times was going to Yankee stadium with his brother.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Raymond, Irving, and Ronald Tifft; his sister, Katherine; and several aunts and uncles.

Marty is survived by two brothers, Richard Tifft (Sally), and Jack LaPelle; and many nieces and nephews.

GANSEVOORT – James Stanley Winters, 51 of Gansevoort passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday morning, August 24, 2023.

Born on October 4, 1971 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Nancy (Goldie) Winters and the late Michael Winters, Sr. James grew up in Hudson Falls and was a 1993 graduate of Hudson Falls High School. Shortly after that, he and his family moved to Lisbon, NY until 3 years ago when he returned to the area.

He loved pizza and, while in Hudson Falls, he worked at the Pizza Hut there. He was a participant in the Special Olympics where he was awarded a Gold Medal and Bronze Medal in swimming which he was very proud of. James’ family called him “Jimmy-Doo” and he enjoyed playing cards and loved Elvis Presley. He enjoyed having get togethers at his Aunt Shirley’s house and was good at making friends, everyone that knew him loved him.

James is survived by his mother, Nancy Winters of Lisbon; a sister, Carolyn Winters also of Lisbon; his brother, Michael Winters, Jr. (Renea) of Gansevoort; nieces, Alexandra (Phil), Danielle (Morgan), and Joanna; and a nephew, Quinton.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

KINGSBURY – Don Passed away on Tuesday August 22nd, 2023, at 78, at Albany Medical Center Following a brief illness with his loving family by his side.

Don was born on September 17th, 1944, to Marion (Robare) Gonyea and Leonard Gonyea in Morrisonville, New York.

He was raised on a farm with 6 other siblings. Don enlisted in the United States Army in 1962at age 18 and served his country from 1962 to 1965. Following his tours in Germany, Don was discharged home. He then Married the love of his life Byrle “Blair” Gonyea on November 13, 1965. They settled in the Kingsbury area. Don and Byrle spent 58 wonderful years together and truly shared, “A love with no end”.

Don worked for 37 ½ Years for Decora Manufacturing company in Fort Edward New York. He was very active serving his community in the Hudson Falls Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years and then serving for the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company as fire police chief for 44 years up until his passing. Amongst his many hobbies and passions his number one passion was his family, that he loved spending time with. Especially with his grandchildren and great granddaughter Letty Jean.

In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his stepmother, Bertha “Badger” Gonyea; his brothers, Armond and Gary Gonyea; his sister, Verna Desourdy; brother-in-law, John Desourdy; sister-in-law Patricia Gonyea; father and mother-in-law Arthur and Myrle Blair; his brother’s-in-law, Leon, Gerald, Myrle and Robert Blair, and Leslie Lester.; sisters-in-law Shirley Marshall and Elsie Lester.

Left to cherish Don’s memory is his beloved wife of 58 years, Byrle; his daughters Marion Gonyea of Queensbury and Melissa Gonyea of Hudson Falls; his grandsons, Corey (Kasey) Mechanick of Sabattus, Maine, and Joshua Daniels of Queensbury; his great granddaughter who he cherished beyond words, Letty Jean Mechanick of Sabattus ME,. His brothers Marvin “Sonny” (Jeanette) of Hudson Falls NY and Gerald “Joe” (Virginia) of Tennessee, Sister Gloria Bren of Minnesota and many nieces and nephews as well as good friend Jerry French.

At Donald’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Kingsbury Fire Department Banquet Hall in the Town of Kingsbury.

A prayer will be said at 2 pm at the fire house on Saturday with full military honors to follow, provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion Color Guard Post 574.   

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank Albany Medical Center for their exceptional care during this difficult time as well as all his family and friends.

GLEN LAKE – Grace Corsignana Eplite Fallacaro, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2023, at her home on Glen Lake.

Grace was born Corsignana Eplite on October 30, l925 in Giovinazzo, Bari, Italy to Dominic and Rosa (Palmiotto) Eplite.

As a teenager, she emigrated to the United States at the outbreak of World War II in Europe.  She joined her parents and family in Mt. Vernon, NY before settling in Schenectady where she assimilated into her new American life and was given the name Grace.  Although she did not speak the language, she attended high school and held a number of jobs, including seamstress to support her family.

At the end of the war, she met and married the love of her life, Domenico (Dom) Fallacaro. They were married on May 12, 1946, and she moved to Hudson Falls where together, they took over and ran the family grocery, deli, and meat market, renamed “Dom’s Market” on Oak Street.

For the next 40 years, together, she and Dom’s Market became well known in the community.  Several generations of families shopped, socialized, and grew up with her and Dom’s Market as part of their lives.  She was especially loved by the neighborhood children who managed to leave the store with more candy or ice cream than they had money.

In 1986, she and Dom retired and split their time between their new home in Orange City, Florida and their Glen Lake camp which they transformed into a summer home where family and friends gathered in mass. Everyone was welcome and there was always plenty of food cooking, especially Sunday spaghetti sauce.

Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved preparing and sharing meals for both large gatherings and hosting friends and family in both her winter home in Florida and her Glen Lake home.

Grace was a devout Catholic and was active in the Catholic Daughter of America at St. Mary’s in Hudson Falls.  She was also very active in her new Florida life, joining St. Peter’s Church, Deland, FL where she made numerous new and very dear friends. She was also an active member of the Orange City Women’s Club and Cursillo/Ultreya at St. Peter’s.

Grace was a talented needlepoint embroiderer. Her legacy was to pass on to her family her State and National award-winning art. She took great delight in gifting her art to her children and grandchildren on special occasions.

In addition to her husband, Dom, and parents, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Janet Rose, her sister Louise “Jean” Pizzino, her son-in-law David LaPan, two infant grandsons, Daniel and Joseph LaPan, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette LaPan (David) and Rosemary Fallacaro of Hudson Falls; sons James Fallacaro of Orange City, FL and Michael Fallacaro (Joan) of Niskayuna, sister Jennie McCadden of Myrtle Beach, SC, brothers Gaetano “Guy” Eplite (Jean) of Milford, MA and Michael Eplite of Troy, NY and sister-in-law Florence Jarvis.  Her grandchildren include Matthew LaPan (Melissa), Andrea LaPan, Cassandra Bixler (Douglas), Renee Vitale (Jacob), Dominic Fallacaro (Abby), and Anthony Fallacaro.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Karleigh Anagnost (Stavros), Katelynn LaPan, Joseph LaPan, Daniel Hess, Benjamin Bixler, and Asher Vitale.

Friends may gather with the family on September 2nd, 2023, from 9:30 am to 11 am, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul on the Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the calling hours at 11 am, at the church.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Edward.     

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to mom’s caregivers; Linda, Martha, Wanda and Tina for taking excellent care of her and their support of our family.  We would also like to thank Holly, Jo Ann, Noah and Matt of High Peaks Hospice. HUDSON FALLS – Daniel Carl Ure, 65, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, after a brief illness.

Born in Glens Falls, on October 11, 1958, Daniel was the son of Leon Ure and the late, Barbara (Pincheon) Chadwick.

Daniel attended Hudson Falls High School.

He was self-employed, owner/operator of Ure Trucking for several years until health issues prevented him from driving.

Daniel was involved in the area pool leagues. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, and a master mechanic. He loved his family dearly and was a kind man always willing to help anyone who asked. Daniel lived free and did whatever he wanted. He was also an avid car enthusiast, especially when it came to the Volkswagens Bugs. Daniel was also affiliated with the American Legion Riders.

In addition to his mother Barb, Daniel is predeceased by his stepfather David Chadwick and his grandparents Charlotte and Carl Pincheon.

Danial is survived by his children, Kratia Lee of Stillwater, Jetia Ure (Ashley) of Stillwater, Kalitia Gilles (Michael) of Lake Luzerne, and Makayla Ure (Brandon) of Ballston Spa, his grandchildren, Bella, Aiden, Noah, Lucy, Myah, and Landon; his siblings, Jim Ure, Debbie Diamond, Dave Ure, Dru Ure, Denise Ure and Douglas Ure; He is also survived by his former partners, Michelle Dekano, Deborah Nelson, and Robin Maxam; numerous step brothers and sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends and acquaintances.

Friends may call on Daniel’s family on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Darlene Lois Gould, 79, of South Glens Falls went into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Born on December 4, 1943, in Glens Falls, Darlene was the daughter of the late Michael and Mae (Lacque) Gould.

Darlene attended Fort Edward Central High School.

She was a school bus driver for the Argyle Central School District and South Glens Falls School District. Darlene drove for over 40 years, and took great delight in her job. She was beloved by the children she had the pleasure to transport, and was esteemed among her colleagues.

Darlene was a member of the Moreau Community Center, and a local bowing league.  She was also a member of the Argyle Central School Retirees and the Northeast Association of Country Western Entertainment. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Darlene is predeceased by her sister Helen Butler and her brother, Richard Gould.

Darlene is survived by her four children, Kimberly Bovair of Fort Edward, Deborah Ashe (Kenneth) of Hartford, James Breason (Dana) of California, and Melissa Ives (Joel) of Mississippi; her eleven grandchildren, Christie, Shelby, Brittney, Cody, Steven, Jessyka, Kaitlynn, Victoria (Tori), Elliott, Ethan, Schuyler, Abigail, and Charlotte; her several great-grandchildren; her fiancé James W. Krywy of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

HUDSON FALLS – Frances Sally Prevost, 79, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, August 12, 2023 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She left this earthly life surrounded by her loving children and the people that she loved the most.

Born on February 25, 1944 in Glens Falls, she was a life-long area resident and daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Girard) D’Angelo.

Frances’ family was her life and she enjoyed every minute spent with them. She also had a love of animals, especially her dogs.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by five of her sisters, Anna, Mary, Dorothy, Barbara, and Joan.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Hart (Chuck) of Hudson Falls, Monica Flood (Jim) of Niskayuna, Kelly Belden (Mark) of Queensbury, James Hart (Robyn) of Queensbury, and Philp Hart (Krissy) of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, De, Kye, Ryan, AJ, Derek, Tyler, Olivia, and Ava; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Philip D’Angelo (Anne Marie); sister, Linda Lucci (Earl); her beloved fur babies; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 18, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, 62 Warren Street in Glens Falls. Rite of committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

GANSEVOORT – Douglas W. Tyner, Sr., 75 of Gansevoort, passed away Friday morning, August 11, 2023 at Glens Falls Hospital after battling many health issues over the last several years.

Born on September 27, 1947 in Tyler, Texas, he was the son of the late Deward William and Anna Elizabeth (Stickland) Tyner. After high school, Doug joined the United States Navy, serving his country aboard the USS Bennington from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.

On June 4, 1993, Doug married the former Priscilla Gates in Fort Edward and the two of them have enjoyed many wonderful years together. He worked for the New York State Department of Corrections and was stationed at several prisons in the state, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2008. Doug was a talented handyman and wood worker and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents, Doug is predeceased by his brothers in law, Butchie, Eddie, and Jimmy Gates.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Priscilla H. Tyner of Gansevoort; his children, Douglas W. Tyner, Jr. of Californina, Leanne Riley (Erwin) of Queensbury, Bethany Tyner of Greenwich, and Nicole Hermance of Wilton; his grandchildren, Hailey, Brayden, Urijah, Addison and Nathan; two sisters, Patsy Tyner and Carrie Tyner both of Texas; his favorite fishing buddy, Jeff Hermance; two brothers in law, Myron Gates (Robyn), and Ronnie Gates; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in Glens Falls.

HUDSON FALLS – Wayne “Peter” West, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 31, 2023, at his home in Davenport, Florida.

He was born on July 21, 1954, at the Glens Falls Hospital and he resided with his family for many years in Hudson Falls.

The family moved to Glen Lake, where Peter graduated from Lake George High School.

Peter Began working at G.A. West & Co.  Many might remember his friendly, outgoing personality during his many years there.  Using his mechanical skills, Pete ran the Stihl Department at Wests’ and eventually went to work for the Stihl Corp in Connecticut.  Peter Joined the Bay-Ridge Fire Department, where he volunteered for several years.

Pete moved to Lake George, taking in “Lady” a mixed breed dog and rescuing several cats. 

In 2019, he moved to Florida with his animals, where he enjoyed the warm weather and meeting new friends.

Pete was predeceased by his father, Hubert W. West and Mother Geraldine (Jones) West.

He is survived by his brothers, Hubert West (Joan) of Lake George and Gary West (Judy) of Queensbury; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Matthew (Daniela) of Germany, Mark of Tucson, Arizona, Victoria (Jeremy Latson) of Adams, Mass, Daniel (Lisa) of Hudson Falls, Aaron (Laura) of Queensbury and Wendy (Randy) Ovitt of Lake George.

Calling hours will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

FORT ANN – Jeffrey Nathan Tucker, 30, of West Road, died Thursday, August 10, 2023 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on January 3, 1993 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Jeffrey L. Tucker and Susan M. (Stevenson) Bennefield.

Jeff was a 2011 graduate of Fort Ann High School. He learned and worked in many different trades including steel fabrication, carpentry, and mechanics, but his passion was trucks, big rigs, and motorcycles. Jeff’s dog, Buster, loved to ride on the back of his motorcycle in a milk crate when he was a puppy and did so until he was too big for it.

He loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping when he could. But Jeff was much more than that. He loved to give of himself, helping others when they needed it and asking little in return.

He is predeceased by two of his cousins, Michael J. Sherman, II and Kelly J. Bowman; and his grandmother, Lorraine H. Gordon, who will be at Jeffrey’s side in Heaven.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff Tucker and Susan Bennefield; his sister, Tonya N. Tucker; his grandparents, Raymond and Carol Stevenson; four nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
